SWF>>>Chincoteague skies

For this weeks Skywatch Friday   I have some more Chincoteague skies. Some sky with birds and some with threatening and moody clouds and some skywatch with some neat kites.

Above we were the early birds up on the beach for the sunrise, the usual Willets and Sanderlings were keeping us company as we watched the sky.

The clouds looked very threatening but we did not have any rain while we there. At least not until the drive home which was Ok with me.

Another sunrise on the beach at Chincoteague Island, Virginia. Or I should say it is actually the Assateague National Seashore.

It was a moody sky, but still neat seeing this adult Bald Eagle with a juvenile Eagle closeby.  We watched this eagle and juvenile eagle in almost the same spot where I saw the Merlin in my previous post..

Even though we did not see the rain we did get to see this rainbow. If the egret would move over some, it would look like the egret is at end of the rainbow.

We were on the wildlife drive watching the birds and the sky.

It was a great day for flying kites on the beach. This is one of the kites I really liked. It reminds me of Peter Pan for some reason. Very cute.

I hope you enjoyed my skies and to see more beautiful skies from around the world
check out Skywatch Friday  Thanks to the hosting group at Skywatch: Sylvia, Sandy, Wren and Fishing Guy!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and to all the birders out there Happy Birding.

  2. I certainly did enjoy your skies today, Eileen. I loved the stormy, broody feeling and then you brighten it up with the colourful kite. I would also love to see a Bald Eagle, and console myself that I see it through nature blogs like yours. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend. Regards Jo

  7. Oh my gosh, I was just thinking the other day I'd like to have a kite! Both of those are great! That vivid red against the cloudiness.
All your photos are great, but I loved that second one where it looks like the pink tint was added afterwards-like they used to do to photos in the 40's and 50's.
    Have a great weekend Eileen!

  18. You had some wonderful, dramatic skies to supplement your bird watching and the kites were yet another bonus.
I can see why the one would make you think of Peter Pan, it is reminiscent of the pirate boat.

  19. Love the layers of clouds in that first shot!
All your sky shots are lovely!
Oh so envious of the bald eagle "capture" - well done Eileen.
I smiled with your reference to Peter Pan - a magical shot of the kite.

  21. Wonderful to see a rainbow! Well your moody sky photos are fabulous along with the pretty beach scene..they look lovely with your background! The kite is just excellent Eileen.
Hope things will look up with US Fish and Wildlife service as well as the N.P.S. plans on changing public usage and that.
One other thing I'd forgotten, I did a little research on Ancestry.com a number of years ago and found it pretty interesting. I got more out of that in some respects than relatives (lol)
Anyhow, have a well deserved weekend Eileen~

  22. Moody skies are great, I'm really beginning to appreciate how interesting they can be. The Sunrise is beautiful and I love the kite with its red sails, I can see why you would associate it with Peter Pan, I wonder if Captain Hook was aboard? The rainbow, egret and eagles are an added bonus.

  25. nice! love that unexpected ship in the air. :)

I don´t know if Watery Wednesday will shot down. But she has on several occations mentioned both health and work problems. Maybe she comes back. If so, having two water memes will still work fine I think. Lets hope she is OK. :)
