SWF>>>>Turkey Point

My Skywatch Friday post
is from this past weekend hubby and I visited the Turkey Point Lighthouse and hawkwatch at Elk Neck State park in Maryland. The lighthouse sits on top of a cliff overlooking the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.

When we were there it is was a slow time for hawk watching. I think we saw one hawk while we were there. Overall it was slow for seeing all the birds. I did see the one unknown hawk, lots of Cardinals, a couple of redbellied woodpeckers, lots of Golden Crowned Kinglets, A Yellow Rump Warbler and a couple of Winter Wrens. It was a pretty day but just a slow birdie day.

Way, way up there is the one and only hawk I saw at the Turkey Point hawkwatch.

It was neat to watch this ship go sailing by.

This redbellied woodie was fussy over another redbellied woodie that was nearby.

There were lots of clouds around but also some pretty blue sky. A pretty day to be outside enjoying nature.

There seemed to be a few sailboats out on the Chesapeake Bay. This one looked like it was a tour boat.

We did hike the lighthouse trail, which is a nice loop trail that took us down to the waters edge. A few pretty fall colors on the trees. This trail was where I saw my FOY Winter Wrens.

Looking at the sky back at the hawk watching site. I hope you enjoyed my skies and post and to see more beautiful skies from around the world click here Skywatch Friday

Thanks to the hosts of Skywatch: Sylvia, Sandy, Wren and Fishing Guy.
Also, thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to comment.

I have been having trouble commenting on some blogs for some reason. I feel bad that blogger sometimes tells me I am not signed in when I know I am. So, I do keep trying to leave comments but they do not always work. Anyone else having this problem?

  1. I'm reading a novel at the moment set in Chesapeake Bay.So now I know how it looks. Beautiful. Love lighthouses too. Bad luck about he slow birdwatching but what a beautiful trail. I would be happy following that.
I'm not having problems commenting but some time ago I had a window pop up saying 'not signed in' but i found if you just click off and then hit comment again it comes good the second time.

  2. Hi Eileen, thanks for this lovely post. Wonderful photos that make me want to visit such a neat looking area. I have had similar problems with Blogger recently. They must be having a few new hiccups.

  3. I enjoyed the trek with you; shame the hawks were low profile on the day. Would enjoy the loop trail walk...

  4. Hi Eileen
It sometimes helps to "UN-check" the "keep me signed in" button when you sign in. I also found if I go through blogger dashboard to view posts instead of google reader. Hope this helps. I know I was quite frustrated when this was happening to me---you know I love to "talk"--LOL!

Anyway, beautiful photos--I love the lighthouse path one. So intriguing.....

  8. That first ship photo looks awesome! If only there was a skull & crossbones flag waving it would be a perfect Halloween-y ship!

  24. Beautiful place to look at sky and birds! I am enamoured of the State Parks in your area.

I almost never can leave a comment on blogger or blogdpot blogs where the comment form is embedded instead of being a pop-up like yours is. (I know this because TexWys Girl (the runaround ranch) wrote about it and I copied it onn my blog.) A few people I wrote an e-mail to and they changed their form.

I feel I am walking through the trails surround by colorful foliage!

  26. Today, another tanker went aground almost where the other one did. May be they should have a light house there.

  34. I like to report an anonymous comment that I have been getting on my blogs which is offensive to half the American population. I am not American, and is still very angry with it. I have deleted the comment on my blogs, and I wonder if you have received any. I won't bother to mention the name because that would promote him further.

Re: your problem, when you sign in to blogger, uncheck the 'keep me signed in' box, I always have trouble if I don't do that, it's wierd.

  42. Lovely shots! I'm very weak for the lighthouse, it's gorgeous. I've been to Maryland several times, but never been out in the nature. It's so much to see! I hope to be back next year to visit my family in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and love to see more of your beautiful country :)
