Patuxent NWR, North Tract

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

Happy Easter..I hope everyone has had a Happy Passover/Easter week!

My office was closed  for Good Friday, so hubby and I enjoyed some hiking and birding at the Patuxent NWR here in Maryland. Finally, it was a beautiful day to spend outdoors. The North Tract of the wildlife refuge was new for me, it includes the wildlife drive and hiking trails.

Some scenes from our visit to the Patuxent National Wildlife Refuge, above are the Great Blue Heron, a Belted Kingfisher and a shot of the Rieves Pond.

Canada geese, looks like a female is sitting on a nest.

We watched while this Great Blue Heron flew and landed on this tree.

I saw the Tree Swallows for the first time this year. They were flying low over this pond, and a few swallows were on top of the Purple Martin house.

The reflections of the trees in the Rieves Pond were pretty.

Above are just two of the many sparrows we saw, the White-Throated Sparrow and a Song Sparrow.

Thanks for stopping by my post and I always appreciate your comments.
Join in on the fun and for more wonderful photos please visit  Mosaic Monday and more from  Our World Tuesday
Thanks to our host: Mary our host of Mosaic Monday and to the hosting group of Our World Tuesday: Arija, Gattina, Lady Fi, Sylvia, Sandy and Jennifer.  Thanks also for stopping by to see my post.  I wish everyone a happy week!

Happy Easter to you too, Eileen. I love your Belted Kingfisher; it's like a cross between our Giant Kingfisher and Pied Kingfisher. And the reflections in the lake are stunning. Have a great week. Jo

Gorgeous photos, Eileen... Looks like a great place to get out and enjoy nature. I love seeing those gorgeous blue skies.

Our Easter has been cloudy and rainy. I feel sorry for all of the little children who wanted to get outside and hide easter eggs....

Happy Easter to you.
Hugs,
Betsy

Looks like a gorgeous day for photos! I saw a white throated sparrow today, but he would not let me get a decent shot. I enjoyed your shots of the water and all the wonderful birds-especially the kingfisher; they are so difficult to capture.

Beautiful collages Eileen. I especially love the incredible shot of the Great Blue in the tree, and I'm a sucker for Kingfishers so that bird caught my eye immediately!

Hi Eileen, Wonderful group of pictures of all those birds! Makes me miss old Hank and the geese at the pond where I used to live. I miss ducks and geese but do have some familiar birds here. Have a super nice Tuesday tomorrow!

Beautiful reflections in the lake. I like the kingfisher and the blue herons amuse me in the trees as they look too big to be sitting in a tree.

The White-throats are always a treat. I know they're common for many people elsewhere but when we find them here it's a big news:) Looks like a wonderful walk.
