Linking up with NF Winged and Skywatch Friday
On the third day of our Florida vacation hubby and I went south and spent 2 nights in Bonita Springs. Located on the gulf and midway down the coast. We toured Sanibel Island and Ding Darling NWR and Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. All great places for birding and pretty scenery, so I am sharing birds for NF Winged and some sky shots on this post.
This Sanibel Island lighthouse is a different design than what I am use to seeing. But, I do enjoy seeing lighthouses and will take a few photos of each lighthouse that I visit.
The Brown Pelicans were plentiful in Florida. We saw a lot of them on Sanibel Island.
The Snowy Egrets seemed to like hanging around the fishing pier, maybe hoping for a free meal.
Some of the Sanibel shorebirds..the cute Sanderlings and some Ruddy Turnstones.
Juvie Osprey on the nest, testing out the wings.
Now, it's time for the sunset on Sanibel Island.
Love the pretty pink clouds in the shot above.
These sky shots are in order as we watched the sunset. By the time we arrived at the beach the sun had set, the colors and reflection was still pretty. Stay tuned more to come from Corkscrew and Ding Darling NWR.
Thanks for visiting my blog and I always appreciate your comments.
Happy Skywatching to everyone!

All lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteThat lighthouse is definitely unique. It reminds me of an old-fashioned water tower. Your sunset pictures are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThese are all wonderful shots. I love the colorful sky at the beach. The lighthouse is unusual and great seeing the birds. You got some great captures of the birds in flight which I find hard to do.
ReplyDeleteoh I must plan to go, we have never been!! Awesome shore birds and a breathtaking sunset!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Sometimes the best color of a sunset is after the sun drops over the horizon!

ReplyDeleteDing Darling NWR is a birders paradise! I was there in late Nov, it was very hot! Nice pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat seems so pleasant, the look of the waves and the sunset, beautiful.

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, Lucky you! Now, I am very jealous! I adore Sanibel Island and Ding Darling preserve. I have not been there in 20+ years though. It is on my "soon" list now that I live within easy several hours' drive of it. Excellent pictures. Hoping you have a fantastic weekend!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky shots, Eileen, especially behind the lighthouse. And I love the birds. I used to see ospreys from a distance, and I know where they nested, but I never saw a juvenile. Thanks for posting one!
ReplyDeleteK
A beautiful, fascinating series of photos! Such can't get used to your brown pelicans as opposed to our black and white ones!
ReplyDeleteWonderful sky shots, Eileen:)

ReplyDeleteThe sunset is great but those crazy pelicans jumping in feet first like a bunch of small boys has me grinning all over.
ReplyDeleteGreat lighthouse!! It's so unusual, but it seems to fit into the whole area ... I bet you'll be going back there again!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in the sky and the tranquil view of the settling sun in the distance.
ReplyDeleteA slice of paradise! Lovely sky shots.
