Blackwater NWR, Cambridge Md

I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

On Saturday, hubby and I took a daytrip to Blackwater NWR in Cambridge, Md.  It is a nice drive thru rural areas of  Maryland's Eastern Shore.

A closeup of the juvenile Bald Eagle, Adult Bald Eagle and a juvie Bald Eagle in flight.

A pretty scenic shot of Blackwater National Wildlife refuge. In the distance you can see some of the diamonds glittering in the water.

A flock of White Pelicans with some swans, a scenic shot of Blackwater NWR, Tundra Swan with Northern Pintail ducks and Canada Geese.

Snow Geese in flight and a view of the distant Blackwater NWR visitor center and the the Snow Geese.

It was cool to see the Sow Geese lift off the ground, they moved just a bit.

Two Northern Shovelers, Tundra Swans and a few Common Mergansers. I just love the green, white and rusty colors on the Shoveler. A very pretty duck.

A couple of pretty Great Blue Herons..

We had a great morning and afternoon, driving the wildlife drive three times.  Seeing different sights and birds along the way.. On the way home along Rt 50 we found a new place for our Maryland Crabcakes..the Harris Crab House at Kent Narrows.. DELICIOUS..

We have one more day of sunshine and warm weather and then the forecast is calling for more of the Artic Vortex and snow.....will this winter ever end? I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend..

Thanks for visiting my blog. I always appreciate your comments.

I've probably told you a million times or so that we saw snow geese like that in the fall at Bosque Del Apache. It is so amazing to see that many of these beautiful birds. Love all your pictures.

  21. Wow - what a great drive and to get to do it three times - I just love all the birds and find it interesting that almost all of them are ones we see here - except the pelicans. They have them down in Seattle - 90 miles south - but not here. I miss them from when we lived in California,.

  37. Oh my goodness Eileen, you really do take the most amazing pictures!! I LOVE all of these. Those snow geese are a sight to behold in such large numbers, aren't they? I'm very partial to swans and wish we had some close by. I've read that there are swans in parts of N.C., but I've never traveled to those areas to see them. Maybe one day. :)

Thanks for your visit -- I hope you have a lovely week.

  54. Hi Eleen, Great shots of the birds. The snow geese are incredible and the juvenile bald eagle looks like an unkempt teenager! Yes the sink hole is still there. The drilling is to determine if there are other cavities nearby. They will drill two more holes, then decide what to do to fix the problem. This section of the street has had several previous sink holes, one much larger, the others smaller.

  55. Eileen, between those magnificent Snow Geese in flight and the close up of the juvie Bald Eagle, those shots along with all other shares, you and your hubby had a wonderful day trip. I LOVE that Bald Eagle shot...great capture. The Snow Geese in flight, add a red and green ribbon in the corner and you have a Christmas greeting card~
