Snow, Snow and more Snow

Linking up with Skywatch Friday

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

Lately we seem to be having some kind of weather event, whether it be snow or freezing rain. Our temperatures have been very cold and whatever snow we had first never had a chance to melt. As I type this post it is snowing once again and we have about 10 inches of new snow from overnight.  These shots are from last week's ice storm..

A frosty winter wonderland.

Our street, the pine trees lost a lot of branches from the ice storm. On this day I had to stay home from work, the roads were icy and there were trees across the road every couple of feet.

Hubby's shot of our lake.

A closeup of the moon

Blue Jay on our icy weeping cherry tree. The birds do not seem to mind the cold weather. I have been keeping the feeder full and water in my heated birdbath.

Hubby's shot of some Canada Geese on our lake.

Another section of the lake, mostly frozen..

Thank you for visiting my post, I hope you enjoyed my birds and skies. Please stop back for Saturday's Critters. My post will be on the Great Backyard Bird Count.

To see more pretty skies from around the world please visit  Skywatch Friday
and to see more of the winged critters check out NF Winged

Thanks to Sylvia, Yogi  and Sandy for hosting Skywatch Friday! Thanks to Monica the host of NF Winged.   I wish everyone a safe and happy long weekend.

  36. We have been having similar weather here, with the exception of ice storms. We have had frequent snow falls, sometimes a little and sometimes a lot. The cold temperatures haven't allowed what snow has fallen to melt. I enjoyed your winter wonderland, sky and bird pictures.

  43. Just looking at them makes me shiver! I can't imagine there are hot-bloodied entities that survive those environments. I dedicate my post in my other blog (POG) to my friends with deep winter, so they can have a semblance of life for the subconscious. By the way, do you see your moon in this position? Mine is always facing up! haha

  44. What beautiful photos, Eileen! With all the amazing scenery around you, how do you ever pick for your posts?? And I'll bet the birds love the heated bath in this weather!

  53. Wonderful winter shots, Eileen. We've had hardly any snow and ice this winter, that's why I love these shots extra today.
    Happy Valentine's Day!

  54. I absolutely love these images Eileen! They are the opposite of the hot, dry weather we've been dealing with and the sad smoke haze that has hidden the sun for the past few days. I refill the birdbaths each day so the birds can drink and cool down so it was amazing to hear of your heated bird feeder! Your feathered friends are lucky to have you caring for them :)

  62. I used to hate snow and ice and gray skies. Since I've begun birding, I actually welcome the cooler temps and love the snow and gray skies. So while it's not the greatest weather, it's still breathtaking:) Enjoy.

  63. Oh my gosh! You guys got hit hard. That is a ton of snow. It does make for pretty photos, especially the one of the Blue Jay! Just lovely :)

  67. Brrr! That ice brings such beauty along with the damage.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Even the moon looks cold and snowy... The look on the Jay's face seem to say that he's had enough of the cold too! Happy Valentine's Day ♥

    ReplyDelete
  69. The harsh weather this winter has made for beautiful photos. Love these.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Plenty of winter in our skies this week! Love the Jay on the icy limbs. When I called our tree guy (also a neighbor) the morning after the ice storm, he already had 130 calls for help with trees.

    ReplyDelete
  71. spectacular to see; it is hard to believe really. The lake is amazing

    ReplyDelete
  72. Snow is one thing, but ice storms are very hard to deal with. I hope you get past all your winter weather soon! We're back to more normal colder temps again in the minus 10s to 20s, but we're getting lots more daylight and sunshine, so much easier to take.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Great pics, although this winter I've grown tired of snow and cold. We haven't been above freezing since Dec 5. Stay warm and safe.

  74. BEAUTIFUL Shots and it almost appears as if it snowed on the moon as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Happy Valentine's Day (+1), Eileen! You guys really have been getting spanked by Old Man Winter. Those ice storms are especially nasty - it's been a bad year for ice here, too, which is unusual. Stay safe!

Your photos are lovely! That moon shot is most impressive, and I love all the birds and snowscapes. How lucky the birds are to have thoughtful humans like you to help keep them warm!

    ReplyDelete
  76. What gorgeous snow photos! I see you got a fair amount of ice, too. We were spared the most recent big storm.

    ReplyDelete
  77. A wonderful series of photos! The moon is gorgeous and also the bird ... all are great!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I know ice storms can wreak a lot of havoc on trees, and make getting around difficult.. But BOY, do them make for a lot of beautiful scenery!
We rarely get ice storms, since our temps are rarely hovering around rain / freeze temp. We just have snow & cold. So all those pretty pictures of icy worlds make me a little dreamy.

  79. Some really cool pictures Eileen and also thanks for the valentine greeting :-)
