Linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes
For this week's Wild Bird I am featuring the Eastern Towhee. I have been enjoying this pretty male right outside my window which in front of my treadmill. Some people watch TV walking while they are on the treadmill, I watch the birds outside my window..
The male Eastern Towhee is a handsome bird. They have a black head upper body and tail. Rufous sides and white underneath...
I think they are residents in Maryland.. I have seen them all over the state of Maryland and in Shenandoah Nat'l Park, Virginia..
This female Eastern Towhee has the rufous sides and is mostly a brownish color on the back and wings..
The view outside my window while I am walking on my treadmill.. The Eastern Towhee is sharing a meal with the White-throated Sparrows.
Another look outside my window at the Eastern Towhee!
I hope you enjoyed my wild bird post.. Till next week's wild bird post.. I wish you happy Birding and have a wonderful week!

Have a fine day

This looks a lovely bird Eileen and you have managed great shot of it.
ReplyDeleteNice clicks....
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see these kind of birds. Here we can see them only in special bird parks.
Many greetings,
Marco
Nice photos of one of my favorite birds. They usually show up around here in May--and only stay for a brief time. We sure enjoy them while they're visiting!
ReplyDelete:)
I think that is a lovely view from the treadmill you have. Nature is much more fascinating then TV :)
ReplyDeleteCaminhar na esteira fazendo exercícios com um visual desses é lindo! Vale muito! bjs, tudo de bom, chica
ReplyDeleteGreat bird - I saw a spotted version last year! Don't think it will be on this years list!
ReplyDeleteNice.
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
A lovely series of the Towhee. I saw the Spotted Towhee in Seattle last year and liked them too. A great idea to watch the birds while on your treadmill.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos ! We don't have those pretty birds here . If I had a treadmill I would be doing the same thing watching the birdies as I was on it but instead I walk our yard and valley and watch the birds lol or just take it easy and look out my kitchen windows lol Thanks for sharing , Have a good week !
ReplyDeleteHe's neat and attractive!
ReplyDeleteso cute. I think I'll go fill the feeders now.
ReplyDeleteThey are such an attractive bird...and I love their sound...:)JP
ReplyDeleteThe Towhees are good looking birds! I don't see them here in Iowa.
ReplyDeleteyour view from the treadmill is much preferable over anything on TV. our Cardinals are screaming springtime for the last 3 days. our temps soared into 78 degrees the last 3 days and now their is a chorus of birds
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to get a descent shot of an Eastern Towhee. :)) Unfortunately I have never seen one in my yard.
ReplyDeleteCute is the first picture of a very nice bird. Regards.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the Eastern Towhee! I haven't gotten that close to one yet.
ReplyDeletei'm jealous as i've never seen a towhee in person.
ReplyDeletesuch handsome birds, those towhees
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see these cute birds right outside your window!
ReplyDeleteLovely bird. You've reminded me I need to get on the elliptical trainer today. Any minute now!

ReplyDeleteWe have Towhees as well, and you got some lovely snaps. Around here some call them Rufous Sided Towhees. Happy Week~
ReplyDeleteWow, such incredible beauty, and something new for me again. A Towhee, I have to look into this bird. The coloring is striking!
ReplyDeleteSuch a handsome bird! I had one stop in my yard last year while migrating.
ReplyDeleteA really handsome bird to be able to watch from your window.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteLovely bird the Towhee. Never seen one before, until visiting your blog today.
Is there a TowShe? :)
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
Eileen what a great way to pass the time while exercising, and you get such lovely pictures. This is one beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous bird! I really envy your view.
ReplyDeleteSome great shots Eileen! I kid you not I have spent today trying to get a decent shot. This is the second year I have had them. Thanks for sharing the female. I know now I've only seen males. I do learn from your knowledge.
ReplyDeleteWhat welcomed visitors to distract you while you do the treadmill. Much better than tv!
ReplyDeleteSuper bird Eileen and much more relaxing than watching TV.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bird. I don't think I've ever seen one in person.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one in Pa...interesting..Pretty bird :)
ReplyDeleteGood shots.
That first shot is gorgeous! I like the female towhee....I've never seen her before. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty bird !!
ReplyDeleteThat female is beautiful...for the first time I really think the woman is the more beautiful of a pair of birds.
ReplyDeleteThanks Eileen. I'm learning a little more about birds with every post.
ReplyDeleteNice shots of this attractive bird. I'd like to see one myself.
ReplyDeleteLove these guys! I just don't see them very often.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen the Eastern Towhee up close and personal and here you are looking out your window while on the treadmill enjoying the view. I agree the male is a handsome bird as is the female. Perhaps I should get a treadmill ... maybe that's the trick. :)
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From The Sol
You have the best birds, and now retirement time to really pursue them!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are so handsome Eileen. I think I may have seen them once in my yard but I would have to check!!
ReplyDeleteNice to have such a great view while exercising!!
Thanks for sharing these images. Great captures! Feel free to come link up at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2015/02/bathing-in-bubble.html
ReplyDeleteOh wow, great pictures of the Eastern Towhee Eileen. Both male and female are really neat looking birds. Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteQuite a nice view! My grandson and I have been watching the birds a lot this week too. We even saw some robins.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of beautiful birds and how nice to be able to watch them while you exercise!
ReplyDeleteNicely captured.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, The Towhees are gorgeous birds! Outstanding photographs. Have a wonderful Wednesday tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHe's very pretty! It's amazing that the males and females look so different. And it's no fair the males are usually the prettier of the two. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen one here and I will have to go look and see if they are even in this area at all. Lovely photos.. Watching birds is better than TV much of the time...Michelle
ReplyDeleteGreat captures. I wish some of them visited me. :)
ReplyDeleteA great looking bird, especially the male Eastern Towee. Lovely shots Eileen.:)

Really wonderful, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteBest regards, Synnöve
The towee is such a beautiful bird :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Towhee!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
They look like the towhee's we have in the west. I have always liked them.
ReplyDeleteI think watching the birds is the right thing to do. :) And take shots of them. :)
ReplyDeleteI knew this bird did not and had never seen them. Beautiful bird and beautiful clear photographed.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Helma
You really showed the Towhee's features beautifully, Eileen. The male looks similar to the Towhees we see here in the west, but the female seems very different. Love the auburn colouring. Thanks so much for hosting. I just squeaked in this week under the time limit :) Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos and beautiful birds !
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Hello Eileen. I think "handsome" is a very appropriate word to use when describing this towhee. Those colours certainly make me think that yours got dressed up in his best suit for your pictures.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your week.
Always sweet and welcome, Eileen!

I'd be glued to my window all day if I had such a handsome visitor in MY yard!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking I'd kill myself if I tried to take pictures while on the treadmill! But I'd rather see your birds than any TV show anytime! The towhee looks like it has a longer tail than the western one we see (in Oregon ) ... Otherwise very similar.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous bird! I've never seen one of these. Thanks for sharing your treadmill TV!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds Eileen. I agree that watching birds on the treadmill or any other time is far better than TV. Great pics of the Towhee, he has slightly different markings from the rotors sided towhee here.
ReplyDeleteDearest Eileen; the Towhees both male and female look really handsome and beautiful♡♡♡ Your phrase in the first paragraph made me smile; how I wish living in your nature :-)
ReplyDeleteSending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
That is a much nicer view than a TV screen. He sure is a handsome bird.
ReplyDeleteI love to watch the towhees, you got great pictures out your window! Have a great day! Phyllis
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, Eileen. I don't think I have ever seen such gorgeous starlings...they are glorious! And last weekend my hubby asked me what kind of bird that was with all of our others. I looked it up and sure enough...it was an Eastern towhee!
ReplyDeleteMuch more entertaining than TV!
ReplyDeleteThey are handsome birds! Great photos Eileen...
