Linking up with Skywatch Friday and Good Fences
I am sharing some scenes from a local birding outing..Lately hubby and I will visit the local spots during the week when it is less crowded.. These shots were taken on April 6th at the Swan Harbor Farms Park and at the Susquehanna River State Park. The main reason behind this visit was to see the Wilson's Snipe which is on my previous post..
Eagle sky....A look at Momma on the Eagle's Nest near the Susquehanna River..
An overview look at the Swan Harbor Farms.. a park the birders love to visit lately..It was a pretty sky and a lovely day to be out birding...we sat in the blind waiting for the King Rail to make an appearance.. We heard it calling a few times but it never came out in the open... :(
The Wood Ducks were enjoying some large rain puddles..near the blind.
A barn/fence scene at the Swan Harbor Farms near Havre de Grace, Maryland..a local park..popular with the birders, fisherman and very popular for weddings..
The Tree Swallow sky.. the swallows have returned a nice sign of spring..
My Canon SX40 has great zoom...Momma eagle on nest.. Poppa was perched down below..and a beautiful blue sky.
See the brown clump in the treetop...A view of the distant eagle's nest from the road. BTW, we did not illegally park or tresspass on property..This is a great fence scene for Tex's Good Fences meme. The sky looks pretty too..for my Skywatch Friday shot..
For Skywatch..my moon shot taken on April 11th..BTW, this was taken with my Canon SX40..handheld and no extra lenses were needed..
John Lennon quote " Yeah we all shine on, like the moon and the stars, and the sun".
I hope you enjoyed this post of birds, fences and the sky.. Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you didn't get to see the Rail, but you did have a lovely outing. What nice photos!
you managed to get some great shots here!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos Eileen . The tree swallows look very similar to our King birds here ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures, Eileen. I love the Eagle. Berry College in Georgia has an eagle cam and the two eaglets are almost ready to fledge!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos Eileen. Love the eagle shot up close. Great fence the way it wraps around the area.
ReplyDeleteYou captured a great detailed shot of the moon. You have a fantastic camera.
Have a great day!
CM
Great shots! A nesting eagle... but my absolute favorite are the swallows, sitting like music on paper...
ReplyDeleteHave a nice time
i love the moon shot. that bird pond reflection shot is too cool as well. happy Thursday!! ( :
ReplyDeleteI think you're a very lucky gal to go birding with your husband through the week. What great shots of the eagle! You live in a lovely area for all these migrating birds. Enjoy your day Eileen!
ReplyDeleteWendy
The cameras today make us all good photographers! LoVe that MOON!!!
ReplyDeleteEagle nests, blue skies, king rails...and a whole lot of goodies shared today.
Beautiful scenes! I love the eagles. You didn't happen to see a kid's sneaker along the road near Havre de Grace? One of our kids kicked a shoe out of the van when we were traveling there about 15 years ago. Lol. It is a beautiful area!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen - Your Canon SX40 with 35x Optical Zoom is great. I will have to take a look at one as I am considering adding a new camera to the gear here. The main purpose would be for zoom shots. I like that photo that shows the perspective of the eagle from where you took the photo. AND, I like the way you mentioned you didn't illegally park. :-) Wishing you a fine day.
ReplyDeleteEileen, looks like you're making good use of your "extra" time since retirement. I hope you plan to sell some of your photos, which are very professional!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you covered the memes well today, Eileen...fences and sky for sure. Love the eagle shots.
ReplyDeleteI loved that 7th shot.
ReplyDeleteyou do have GREAT zoom! i'm always impressed by your moon shots, too! love the eagle and barn and wood ducks and fences and... :)
ReplyDeleteLovely bird shots. And that moon!
ReplyDeleteI tried a handheld shot of the moon the other day. It came out o.k., because the moon was completely full. But it can't get half moons at all...5X optical zoom just won't cut it.
I think I'll get an SX-40 when (if!) I have some spare cash someday...they're an older model now and on sale on ebay.

Your part of the United States is beautiful, just look at the terrain.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if I'll ever have the privilege of seeing an eagle outside of a zoo?! I'm especially impressed with your lovely "family shots" - mama on her nest with daddy guarding nearby. Some people could learn a lot from animal behavior!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteYou are a patient person, waiting for the Eagle to show-up. I reckon that's one of the tricks to wildlife photography.
The photos of the eagle mother are very nice, especially with the blue sky and the really nice non-concrete, city-like background.
I am in love with your moon photo. So well done!
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
Great photos with that little camera! I am also very happy with my new SX700HS 30X. Its image stabilization is amazing, as also demonstrated in your moon shot.
