Saturday's Critters #122
The Belted Kingfisher was seen along the wildlife drive in the refuge.
The Killdeer was seen right on the wildlife drive. They moved off as we drove closer.
It was a warm afternoon the the turtles were sunning themselves.
More turtles..we saw more as the day went on.
Turtles and their reflections were everywhere.
Not the best shot, but across the lake was a nest far right and I believe it an eagle on the far left tree.
Back on the hotel parking area the local pool swimming Mallard couple were out for a walk and a dip in the puddle. I hope you enjoyed my post. As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!
Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.
I am sharing larger images and critters or birds from the mosaics in my previous post. These birds were seen at the Great Dismal Swamp NWR in Virginia.

Nice spotting the turtles too Eileen. Have a lovely week. Till we meet again...Cath:)

Hi Eileen
ReplyDeleteI always love seen your birds - the Kilkdeer look fascinating - I'm thinking they don't really kill deer!
Fun to see the turtles out sunning themselves too.
Thank you for hosting Eileen.
Shane

I bet Yertle the Turtle was there too . . .
I love the Kingfisher, Great photo collection.
ReplyDeleteThe kingfisher are so beautiful.. Nice eerie of clicks.. Enjoy your weekend..
ReplyDeleteAnts are small, but they bring me to your Saturday's Critters.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! How cool to see an eagle and it's nest. Thanks for hosting, Eileen- and have a super weekend!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning and happy weekend. I enjoyed all your photos but especially the turtles enjoying the warm sunshine! Thank you for hosting.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen and thanks for hosting the get-together today. That place seems to have entirely the wrong name, especially with holding so many different and wonderful birds, not to mention the turtles. Shame the eagles were so far awy but hey you see lots, i don't see any.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
You can find ducks anywhere. Usually, there's at least one making a pit stop on our garage roof. I love your header!
ReplyDeletegreat images and reflections of the turtles!!! we have a lot of action in our puddles as well, nature made bird baths!!!
ReplyDeleteI love those turtles, Eileen! Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteTURTLES!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see some on our walk to Broad Branch, but I guess Rock Creek Park is still too cold for them.
~
Such a lovely and amazing series of photos, Eileen! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I've never been able to get a good shot of the Kingfisher. Great photos.
Y'all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
That belted kingfisher is such a beauty, love the funny head with feathers up.I'm surprised to see turtles outside in the wild.
ReplyDeleteSome of my true favorites here today !!!
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy your post. I do like the Belted Kingfisher best. I see them occasionally and they don't like their picture taken.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you

Hi Eileen, I love the Belted Kingfisher and the turtles. In fact I love all your birds today as usual. Love the nest and eagle nearby. I had a disastrous morning with my laptop; all's well now so I'm a little late linking in. Thanks for hosting this meme. Greetings Jo
ReplyDeleteYou can never have too many turtles, in my opinion! Great shots, Eileen! Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteKingfisher in your post I feel great. In the Netherlands we have only one kind of kingfisher but with you there are a number of different. Have a great weekend.
Greetings, Helma
Oh lovely, everything is done so beautiful, cheers Eileen.
ReplyDeleteLove the Kingfisher~ I can never get a good shot of one. Isn't it funny how ducks will choose puddles instead of better water? Gulls and terns do that too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting!!!
I'm SO LATE today!!!! Love your mallard couple. Ours was here today too
ReplyDeleteA happy Saturday to you too Eileen. What a great swamp to hike about and the turtles are my favorite photo of them all. Enjoy your day, take care.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the birds and turtles !!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Great to see the Kingfisher. They are very elusive here.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week-end!
Lea
Awesome capture on turtles and their reflections! Nice to see the killdeer giving way for you and the ducks playing in the puddle like kids :)
ReplyDeleteEven storks built nest on the edges of the trees, which i noticed during my last week visit to a bird sanctuary here.
Love the kingfisher and the turtles! Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteEu amo passarinhos e outros bichinhos!
ReplyDeletenada mais lindo que uma tartaruga!

I have so much getting near enough to a kingfisher-- you did very well!
ReplyDeleteMy hair resembled the Belted Kingfisher this morning. Turtles know how to make the most of a sunny day. Killdeer always make me smile.
ReplyDeleteFine critters you showed today. I haven't see a Kingfisher in years!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie that scruffy headed kingfisher! Love the ducks enjoying a puddle splash, on our news this week (well we don't have an 'exciting' election campaign!) was 20 + ducks who'd moved into someone's swimming pool as their pond had dried up!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteEileen, your photos are great!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend:)
What a stunning bird the Belted Kingfisher..
ReplyDeleteAmanda xx

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen!! Another great series of photos, and while I love the turtles, hands down my favorite is the Belted Kingfisher, what a great photo of this sometimes (all the time?) elusive bird!
ReplyDeleteGreat birds - just love the killdeer.
ReplyDeletePiekne zdjęcia,te ptaki u nas w Polsce są inne niż u Was ,lubię je podziwiać.
ReplyDeleteThe Belted Kingfisher has such a cute hair-do! ; )
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
Hope you have a terrific week ahead Eileen, and thanks so much for participating and sharing your birds for us at I'd Rather B Birdin'. I would really be thrilled to see an eagle in the treetops!!!
ReplyDeleteAcually it is the first time I have seen pictures of turtles in the wild, part from the gigant ones on the Galapagos Islands.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteI will the next time with the birds that are still to do in my archive. My husband had an accident and is now with a complicated leg fracture. He can get away anything and we can not leave too. I'll have to take care of him and do it with love.
Greetings, Helma

ReplyDeleteNot just children... but ducks too... like to splash in the puddles after the rain. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour great photos really make me want to learn more about birds.
