Hello,
Wow, it's the last day of January. Time to say hello February.
Today, I am sharing the Glossy Ibis, another bird that seems to be common in Florida. The Glossy Ibis can be seen in various countries around the world, it is a widespread species. Their diet can be insects to mussels, crabs and crayfish.
Breeding adults have reddish-brown bodies with shiny green wings.
I hope you enjoyed my photos and post. Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

Its different to our boring white Ibis, which is a pest here called 'rat of the sky.'

I wish they were more like limpkins or mud hens. They're a little skittish and never gotten a good shot of one
ReplyDeleteA beautiful bird. I always enjoyed watching the birds at the beach. We used to love to visit Santa Rosa Island near Pensacola. The sun is shining here. Hope you have a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteNice work Eileen. I have seen Glossy Ibis on a couple of occasions but in poor light so never been able to get the iridescsent feathering that you captured so well. Very nice pictures indeed. Enjoy the rest of your day/week.

Belle série ;-)

That is a beautiful bird! I hope you are having a great week!
ReplyDeleteGlossy Ibis is a very elegant bird, not a species that I see very often unfortunately. Occasionally - very occasionally - a vagrant shows up here, but the last one I recall was several years ago. However, many species usually found farther south are appearing here with greater frequency so perhaps Glossy Ibis is next.
ReplyDeleteThey have a real iridescence to their feathers - beautiful! Cheers to you Eileen :D)(
ReplyDeleteLovely photographs, those feathers do shimmer and shine.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Such lovely photos!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever see one of these birds before. Beautiful shots!

ReplyDeleteI am going to go back and look at my pictures of the Glossy Ibis... did not notice the colors on the wings, like your beautiful photos show! Hugs!
