South of Daytona Beach, Florida

Hello and happy Thursday!

Would you believe these images are from Jan 18th, that is where I left off sharing my Florida photos. On this weekend we went on an overnight to the Flagler Beach area and visited Daytona Beach the next day, we stopped at various beaches along the coast. Daytona is just a little further south down the road  and along the Atlantic coast. We like the uncrowded area of the Ponce De Leon lighthouse and the Lighthouse Point Park located at New Smyrna Beach Florida.

Terns and a gull. There is one Sandwich Tern in the group below. It has the black bill with a yellow tip.

Osprey with fish

Shadow shot of me and hubby!

An Egret was hanging near a fisherman on the jetty.

Surfers at Daytona Beach

A look back at the Pone De Leon Lighthouse from the jetty. I do not really like beaches that allow the cars to drive on them. I worry about the birds and their nests in the breeding season. Daytona allows  cars to drive on the beach.

For my list of thankful things this week:
I am thankful for pretty beaches. It was great to see so many Florida beaches are clean and do not have litter and trash thrown around.
I am thankful for the time we had sightseeing in Florida. I am also thankful my hubby and I share the love of nature and the outdoors.
As always, I am thankful for your visits and comments on my blog.

I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.  Thanks so much for visiting and for your nice comments. Have a happy day!

Thank you Michelle for hosting. Thankful Thursday

Thank you to the hosts of   Skywatch Friday

  5. Good Morning, Eileen. So nice that you and your husband share a love of outdoors. It's been about 20 years since I've visited Florida. I enjoyed the lighthouse, beach and bird photos you have shared. Hope you have a nice day.

  6. Beautiful capture on the beach and I really liked the white sandy beaches there… wonder how the cars there drive on the beach sand without getting struck! Do all 4x4? I love the lighthouse and the views from near and far. Nice shadow of you both :)

  9. Hello Eileen! This is a very picturesque beach but I agree with you about the cars driving over the area and possibly causing damage.
Lovely shots of the lighthouse and osprey!
    Best wishes!

  14. Love the birds, and the lighthouse is gorgeous. Would you believe I've never seen a lighthouse in person? Hopefully, we'll remedy that in the fall this year. I can't believe they let cars on the beach knowing many cars have oil drips.
    Have a great day!

  18. It is unfortunate about the cars on the beach but I guess it is a tradition there and it is hard to stop tradition.

  24. Lovely series, and an osprey with his breakfast/dinner/lunch, what a superb shot. Down here, I am so thankful for where we live, and this week with more utter tragedy, think of those in the fire, the shootings, and cannot comprehend it all. Thankfulness every day for blog friendships.

  28. We have a few beaches on the Oregon coast that also allow cars, and I'm with you - I don't like it all. Very hazardous for birds and people alike.

  29. Such beautiful photos, Eileen. Those terns look like they are facing into a very stiff breeze although by the look of the gull I can tell that is how they look naturally. I hope you are having a great day.

  30. I love your photos too! And Daytona is just about the closest beach to us but we usually go down to New Symrna. It's so HOT now though...but I miss going to the beach! Enjoy your afternoon sweet friend. Hugs!

  33. Just to clarify ..........for anyone wanting to go visit the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, it is a bit south of Daytona in New Smyrna Beach.

Once again, BEAUTIFUL photos. Those royal terns are one of my favorite birds. They remind me of little old men.

  43. lovely photos, the top one is beautifully composed. Lovely to see the sandwich tern too, I saw my first sandwich terns of the year this week!

  44. Hello Eileen, I enjoyed your photos of the beaches with the lighthouse. And the Terns are pretty cool looking birds. I didn't know what Daytona beach looked like. I guess some beaches still allow driving on them. There are a couple in South Texas that allowed it years ago, but I don't know if they still do. Have a wonderful weekend!

  48. Great photos - I love all of the birds! It seems like cars on the beach would dirty the beach :(

  49. So beautiful. I bet you wouldn't get that tranquility during peak times.

  50. Vehicles can traverse our beaches nere also...but they're patroled by city police AND beach patrol. Love the lighthouse photos!

  51. I know that lighthouse. I would love to return to Florida someday and see it again! Lovely pictures!

  54. I'm with you on the beach thing. I love the shadow shot! We took a walk on a nearby reserve, and I thought of it, then forgot to do selfies! Old age...:-)

  55. Hi Eileen-
That's a Stellar bird - awesome capture. The Giraffe and beach are also very nice captures.
People would rather park their autos on the beach, instead of in a parking area away from the beach and walk to the beach to get some 'free' exercise, and then go to the gym to work out to stay fit :)
    Lots of words there, eh?
Have a Happy Weekend and thank you for hosting.
    Peace :)

  58. I would certainly believe you still have Florida pictures; you guys covered so much ground and the state is so rich in birds. Thanks for the help in IDing sandwich terns.... I hate that they sometimes let cars drive on beaches. That NEVER happens in Oregon and those, of course, are the beaches I know the best.
