Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
If you love critters like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
These are some images from our last visit to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware. On this day we saw a lot of birds, awesome sightings of the Purple Martins, Great Egrets, Mallard and ducklings, American Avocets, a few sightings of a Red Fox.
The Purple Martin houses are close to the visitor center.
This Red Fox was laying right on the wildlife drive. I think it is a young one and looked sick.
A view of one of the ponds and some Great Egrets and Canada Geese.
I believe this is a Mallard with her ducklings.
The American Avocets, a pretty shorebird.
I have much more from our visit to Bombay Hook NWR, we visited for two days. There is always so much to see. I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments! I hope you enjoy my post and photos too!
Here is a list of my linky parties;
Also visit: I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.
Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

ReplyDeletethe sick fox looks so sweet and precious.. and I love the bird house gourds
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen. How clever to create a housing development like that for the purple Martins!
ReplyDeletePoor little fox doesn't look good so I hope someone helps it.
Lovely photos of the ducklings with mom and of the American Avocets!
THanks for hosting and happy weekend!
Thank you for hosting this great meme Eileen.
ReplyDeleteI think that you are right about the young Red Fox. It may be the beginning stages of Sarcopic Mange which can devastate an entire Red Fox family. If they can be captured, they can be treated and re-released, but that is not so easy.
The Purple Martin housing is much like a man has near us. He has I forget some 15 to 20 setups like that and he get hundreds of Martins every year. He said that one of the worst thing to happen with them, of all things is Great Horned Owls. They know the Martins are in the holes and they will fly to the entrance and grab them as they please. I would have never guessed that~
Have a great weekend~
Great shots again Eileen, really impressed with the Avocets, never seen so many in one flock.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a good weekend, Gordon.
Wonderful photos. I have only seen one fox in Indiana. They are beautiful animals.
ReplyDeleteGreat wildlife photos, especially the last one!

ReplyDeleteGreat captures, Eileen! That fox does look a bit under the weather. I hope mamma came to help. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen!:) Impressive accommodation for the Purple Martins, I haven't seen little houses like that anywhere else. Lovely shot of the large group of American Avocets,..they are such handsome birds, and the view of the pond with the Great Egrets is beautiful. I hope someone helps the sickly looking young fox, it clearly is unable to care for itself,...so sad!
ReplyDeleteThe purple martins are amazing and the poor little fox doesn't look at all happy :(
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Sunday Eileen.
Eileen, nice collection of shore birds plus Purple Martin actiivity. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, Eileen - love the purple martins. Poor little fox. Hope you have a lovely week! xx Karen
ReplyDeletegreat pics
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything like those Purple Martin houses with that thin rectangular opening. Amazing. Their shape reminded me of a gourd. Pretty cool how they live in a community like that.
ReplyDeleteLove the Red Fox, in particular.
ReplyDeleteAnd, the other critters.
Just bought Chaka a Red Fox Squeaky Toy yesterday and we are all loving it.
Thanks for hosting.
Have a Happy Weekend, Eileen!
Peace :)
Poor little fox! I hope the wildlife people come and give it some assistance! Love the avocets, and those purple marten houses remind me of my ad who used to put them up!
ReplyDeleteVery nice ! I love the bird houses !
ReplyDeleteThat is one amazing purple martin complex!! It must be crazy busy there during nesting season. That poor little fox really doesn't look well :( Maybe the authorities will catch him and check his vitals.
ReplyDeleteLoved the group of avocet birds, how pretty they look in a large group like that with all their muted colours. Nice to visit you again Eileen and hope you're enjoying the last weeks of summer!
Wendy
Poor little fox; I hope he gets well.

Thank you for the treasure of these delightful photos.
ReplyDeleteawwwwwwwwwwwww poor widdle fox
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather built Martin houses / this post reminded me of that; he had two out in their back yard for them :)
ReplyDeleteThe fox has a lovely red coat but does look a little malnourished.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds, but sad about the Fox.
ReplyDeleteAnd lucky my mushrooms are. Your birds never eat them.
Lovely birds! I feel sorry for the little fox.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the Martin's - Something I don't see that much at all. I am sorry to see such a young fox not feeling well, and I hope he's regained his health.
ReplyDeleteAre you all set to see the eclipse on Monday?
Thanks once again for doing your narration and sharing the wonderful photos this weekend Eileen. We birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' are always appreciative.
ReplyDeleteTerrific pix of this place for sure, Eileen!! I have never seen mallard chicks up close so that was a treat along with the swarm in the first photo...made me gasp!!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Eileen !! I love the purple martins !!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend !
Nice shots.. But poor fox!!! :-(
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead Eileen..
Beautiful place to admire the birds. Lisek lovely and it would be a shame if he was ill. Regards.
ReplyDeleteThose are unusual birdhouses! That poor little fox does look sick...but I guess you really can't mess with nature.
ReplyDeleteMartin houses are interesting to me. A neighbor has them in their yard, and there is a company several miles from my home that makes them. I should look up martins, because I really don't know how to recognize them. I'm sad for animals like the little fox, and hope that somehow he can be helped. That is a nice looking group of American Avocets. Have a great week ahead, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteI love the purple martin houses! The poor fox doesn't look well though...
ReplyDeleteOh, that poor little fox...it sure does look like it feels awful. I sure feel sorry for an animal like that.
ReplyDeleteWonderful images, Eileen! Always fun to see what you post here.
I love martin houses (and the birds too of course) and all those wonderful avocets -- they are gorgeous -- and I've never been lucky enough to see that many at once. And I know that birders probably sometimes hate foxes, but he is really such a beautiful animal -- he just shines and seems to have such beautiful eyes. our Colorado kids used to have a den in a vacant field next door to them; we loved watching. But sadly they are developing the field, so no more foxes.
ReplyDeleteThe fox has a lovely red coat but does look a little malnourished.
ReplyDeletethai porn
That poor baby fox! I hope they can capture him and treat whatever he has. Foxes are such beautiful animals. The purple martin condos look really neat. We have a lot of purple martins at our farm. I love to see them dive into our pond for food. Have a lovely week Eileen. Christa
ReplyDeleteNice captures, Eileen. The red fox is my favourite, even if it looks so miserable...or perhaps because of that...
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week!
Hi Eileen,
ReplyDeletemarvelous photos of all the birds. I especially love the little fox.
Best regards, Synnöve
