Saturday's Critters #194

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Happy September everyone.  I wish all in the USA a safe and happy Labor Day weekend..Update I just heard it is Canada's Labor Day weekend also, Happy Labor Day to Canada!

If you love critters like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are some images of my yard birds and butterflies. I am so behind sharing photos, these are mostly images from July early August.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail

Female House Finch

Black Swallowtail or Spicebush?

In the woods across the driveway, a Turkey Vulture and a Great Blue Heron.

Great Spangled Fritillary and pretty Purple Coneflowers.

Eastern Bluebirds came one day to check out the bird houses and maybe our blueberry bushes, a male Ruby-throated Hummingbird and the Gray Catbird.

I am not sure if these two are Eastern Phoebe's or the Eastern PeWee? Any id help is appreciated.

Another Black Swallowtail butterfly or Pipevine? The butterflies and hummers love this lantana

The female Ruby-throated Hummingbird also at the Lantana. These photos were taken thru my dining room window. I have the Lantana and some other plants sitting on a table right outside the window.

I hope you enjoyed my photos, birds and butterflies.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments! I hope you enjoy my post and photos too!

Here is a list of my linky parties;

  2. Wow - what fabulous photos from your yard. Love the little birds and the flowers - especially the hummingbird in the lantana - and all those butterflies. I really like the way you captured the vulture and heron posing - great shots. Happy Labor Day weekend,

  5. You have the most wonderful yard -- all those visitors. I especially love the hummers, but all are wonderful. Thank you for hosting and, again, for helping me so much with IDs.... It has been very smoky here from wildfires and we haven't been able to get outdoors much, but the shrike that you ID'd for me in June definitely deserved another mention, as did your help and kindness!

  9. Hello!
What a lovely collection of critters!
I think your butterfly is a Spicebush Swallowtail because there are two rows of orange spots on the wings. Pipevine Swallowtails have only one row of orange spots.
Great photo of the Hummingbird on the Lantanas!
    Have a wonderful week-end!

  17. Oh, I love the Eastern Phoebe. They have long tails that they twitch and they sing their own name. It's so pretty and I have loads of them around my house. Your pics look a bit different from the ones I see. Perhaps they are the PeeWee. I don't know because I don't believe I've ever seen a PeeWee.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend.

Labour Day is a public holiday in all states and territories in Australia. It is observed in Western Australia on the first Monday in March and on the second Monday in March in Victoria and Tasmania. The Northern Territory observes Labour Day on the first Monday in May. :-)

  64. Pretty butterflies. I can't seem to get them to sit still while I take pictures of them, haha! And, the bluebirds! I love them! Years ago I thought the name bluebird was just a short name for Blue Jays! But, my mom set me straight a few years ago, and with help of the internet, I find that there are actually Bluebirds! I know that before I was a Campfire Girl, I was a Bluebird, go figure! I have a lot of Blue Jays visit my yard, and, I just haven't seen a regular Bluebird yet. But who knows? Thank you for a lovely post, and, have a safe Labor Day, Eileen.
