Happy Monday,
On Nov 16th hubby and I went on a wild goose chase, really it was a chance to see the Snow Buntings in Baltimore County at the North Point State Park. We have been to this park often here is my link to some previous visits to North Point State Park. I dipped on seeing the Snow Buntings, they must have left over night. At least I did not travel far and we were able to take a nice walk in the park. Here are some birds and scenery we saw during our park visit.
A pretty Song Sparrow
Common Mergansers in the Chesapeake Bay
A reflection of the sky on the marsh!
I think this is a Black Rat Snake, we saw a few snakes out on this day.
The Black Marsh Trail
A large ship out in the Chesapeake Bay, in the background you can see the twin spans of the Chesapeake Bay Bridges.
The Snow Bunting were seen on the rocks along this pier. The only birds we saw were the Song Sparrows, Common Mergansers and some gulls way out in the bay.
A view of the picnic tables and park and the bay.
As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

Is that the bridge to cross to get to Baltimore? Long ago, when I was there, it was a toll bridge...I didn't like stopping in the middle of the bay, on the bridge, to pay the toll. lol
ReplyDeleteLoved this outing with you, the trail with all the autumn color is my favorite.
Hello Eileen!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures of the cute sparrow and the beautiful trail with the huge trees and the great reflection of the sky in the lake!
Very impressive the image with the bridge and the ship!

So calm and....HOLY CRAP is that a snake???
ReplyDeleteSnake - oh my horror - beautiful pictures. I have little time to comment, because I have a new relief project - homeless - I have to knit diligently / crochet for it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Advent

Nothing common about their name - Mergansers. I didn't know one duck from another before I met the RG and have always liked the sound of their name.
ReplyDeleteUnique reflection with the texture of the weeds.
Happy Day.
I like the ship in the bay. Amazing how huge it is. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteawwwww ... just to be out in all that life...is special.

Shame you missed out on the Snow Bunts Eileen but I hope you get another chance soon. I wonder if they quite scarce where you live. We don't get too many here. looks like you had a super day though and that trail through the woods is rather spectacular. I would love to se that snake. They do fascinate me probably because we rarely see many around here.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your week.

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, These are some neat photos! Of course, you knew I would love the ship picture! :-) I also love the Black Marsh Trail … beautiful! … and the reflection of the sky on the marsh. I especially wanted to thank you for your kind comments about my Canon Beach photos. I am totally fascinated that you & hubby have visited the Pacific Northwest so much! That is so neat! Well, thank you for sharing your blog and your kind comments on mine. Wishing happy days ahead to you and family! John

ReplyDeleteWonderful reflection in the water. I would have run out when I saw the snake, Eileen. Beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteTe deseo un buen miércoles.
Besos.
Some lovely photos Eileen. Here in Tasmania we have Tiger snakes & Copperhead snakes. Both aggressive & extremely venomous so if I ever see one I won't be hanging around to get a photo...
ReplyDeleteA couple of weeks ago I heard for the first time snakes referred to a Danger Noodles. I thought it was a good descriptive term for them.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful day! Love the trees by the trail.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos but I'll pass on that snack, thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteNeat photos! I especially like your reflection one.
ReplyDeleteThe View from the Top of the Ladder
My favorite is the reflections on the marsh -- so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI have also made a few trips (in vain!) to find a Snow Bunting this season. Sigh... Just can't seem to find one. Heard the last ones found were about a 7-mile walk, round trip. Can't quite do that yet! Yikes! But I have had a great year, so no complaining really... Thanks for sharing what you DID see! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou find the best birding areas Eileen....Michelle
ReplyDeleteLove that sky-reflection in marsh. You seem to travel a lot -- do you travel by car or by boat? Lovely pictures.
