Merry Christmas everyone!

These photo were taken on the same day Dec 14th. It was a snowy morning so I did my walking on the treadmill. I saw a blur go by my window, I was not sure what went by. When I finished my walking I looked out my window to see this hawk below.  I am not sure, but I was told it is a Sharp-shinned Hawk. It was small in size.

My version of Where's Waldo, my Dark-eyed Junco tree. How many can you find?

I was able to zoom in on two of the Dark-eyed Juncos sitting close together.

The Sharp-Shinned Hawk decided the back yard was a better setting for eating his meal.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments! I hope you enjoy my post and photos too!

A HodgePodge

Happy Thankful Thursday,

I have not been anywhere lately except for our walks on our local fire roads and on the local bike trail.  The Super moon photos were taken from my deck.

I felt sorry for this Dark-eyed Junco, it appears to have a tick stuck to the side of it's face. I hope it fell off.

November 25th , a scene from our local bike trail.

A house off the bike trail has a big gnome collection, we enjoy looking at during our walk.

November 26th, our walk was at the Hemlock Gorge. A nice trail along the stream.

November 26th,  after leaving the Gorge area we made a quick stop at the top of our lake and the mud flats to look for birds.

Driving home from our walk at the Hemlock Gorge we passed by this barn. Looks like a drive-thru barn.

For the Skywatchers and moon watchers, here is my almost full moon on Dec 2nd.

The Supermoon on December 3rd.

I hope you enjoyed coming along on my walks.

I am thankful for peaceful days with nothing special needing to be done.

Winter Wonderland

Happy Monday!
Can you believe we are only a week away from Christmas day? I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season.
We had our first snow on Saturday December 9th. I  was able to enjoy the snow and my backyard birds from my dining room window. It was a winter wonderland.

A cute Tufted Titmouse

Snow covered pine trees in our yard.

A Dark-eyed Junco really is a snow bird.

My deck and a view of the back yard. A snowy winter wonderland.

As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

Shenandoah National Park

I have a list below of memes I am joining for this week, and to save time I am doing one post for all. They are all fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts. Special thanks to all the wonderful host and their memes, I hope you have some time to check them out.

Hello, I am sharing another daytrip to Shenandoah National Park on Aug 26th. It is one of our favorite places to visit and an enjoyable drive. We like to hike on the Limberlost Trail and on this day we also hiked some of the Hawksbill Trail. It was nice to see the Dark-eyed Juncos off of the Limberlost trail and we enjoyed watching an Eastern Bluebird family while eating lunch at the Big Meadows.

For my Wild Bird entry these are the best bird images I could come up with during our visit to Shenandoah on this day. The top row is the Dark-eyed Junco and the bottom row a family of Eastern Bluebirds.  I saw and heard lots of other birds but no photos.

The new bridge on the Limberlost trail, it is wider for the handicap access.

Somes scenes from our hike on the Limberlost Trail, some pretty wildflowers, gorgeous big ferns and some chicken of the woods fungi and the signpost labeling the trails.

Some wildflowers off of the Skyline Drive.

For NF Trees here are some of the trees of off  the Hawksbill Trail.

I just love this tree with the hole almost heart shaped and the greenery growing inside.

The Hawksbill trail above, a whitetailed deer, some berries and unusual plant and blooms.

We noticed this plant growing along the trail the leaves had a lot of white on them and there were some unusual blooms. I am not sure of this plants id?

A view from the Range View overlook on the Skyline Drive.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed our visit to Shenandoah Nat'l Park. I also appreciate the nice comments. Have a happy new week!

Hurry Spring!

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

I just can not get over how fast time is flying, it is almost the end of February.. I am happy that Spring is almost here.. The Mid-Atlantic states have not been enjoying the early and warm weather that the west coast is having. I wish it was a warm winter here, it has been an awfully cold winter!  I am sharing more scenes from this past weekend and earlier in the week, I hope you enjoy!

A cute snow covered squirrel. And another can you find the Junco shot?  BTW, do you see the fence?

A multi fence shot, with my deck railing, chained link fence and a fence further off. Do you see my neighbor with his snow blower.. He was very nice and helped hubby clean the snow off our driveway..Can you see the snow blowing up and into the woods..

You know me by now, I just have to share some birds on my post, some more colorful Starlings..

My skywatch shot, some neat contrails and the sunset...At least I enjoy the pleasures of skywatching.

A pretty sky, the contrail and  sliver of moon on the far top left.. Do you see the moon?

My moon capture taken on Feb 22nd.. I hope you enjoyed my latest post.. Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..

Let It Snow

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday   They are both fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun or check out some of the post.

We had our first big snowfall yesterday. I think there is close to 10 inches or more out there.. During a snowstorm I love watching the birds, they seem to go into a feeding frenzy.. At one time I think I had to have a 100 birds on my deck..and the snow was coming down fast and furious..I just do not seem to do well taking snow photos, the birds look ok though. Now, that the birds have been fed, the snow can disappear.  Come on SPRING!

The Cardinals are one of my favorite birds to watch, their red colors really pop in the snow..I made this mosaic with my lipstick wearing female..Isn't she pretty?

Another female Cardinal and a Pine Siskin.

We've had this table on our deck for years and hardly ever use it, we have other deck chairs we like.  So the table has become a bird feeder table.. I put seed under the table trying to keep the snow from covering up the bird seed right away. The birds seem to love it..lots of Juncos, Mourning Doves and Pine Siskins.

A view of our deck from my dining room window..

My most popular feeder, Mr Squirrel likes it, female Cardinal with the Chickadees and a Pine Siskin..

I think Mr Squirrel looks cute..

By the afternoon I shoveled the deck 3 times and the snow was still coming down..As you can see above the birds were all over the deck and feeders. I am hoping this is the last big snowstorm and spring is on the way, please.. I hope you enjoyed the photos and mosaics..I thank you for visiting and all the wonderful comments..

Just a tease...remembering warmer days from our trip to Key West , Florida..

Around the yard_Jan 24

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

I am sharing some photos and scenes from around our yard for the past week.. We seem to be having snow every couple of days..Luckily it does not hang around on the street but the trees and grass looks pretty.. Since I do not have to go to work now, I can say let it snow...and not worry..

One of the best things about snow is watching my yard birds.. They seem to love our trees and of course the feeders..The Blue Jays are a rowdy bunch when they arrive..

I think they are waiting for me to put out some peanuts for them.

A few captures of the sky over the past week.. I love seeing the pretty crescent moon.

One evening we had some colorful skies, I ran out and took a few shots from the driveway. I see four birds way high up in the sky, maybe four geese?

More from around the yard, we have some large pine trees in the back of the yard, a cute squirrel, Mr & Mrs Cardinal and  puffed up Mourning Doves..

Another find the Junco photo..Can you see the Junco in the Pine Tree? I hope you enjoyed the photos and mosaics..I thank your for visiting and all the wonderful comments..
