Our World, My World

 Happy Monday,

☘️ ☘️  Wishing everyone a  Happy St. Patrick's Day!!  ☘️ ☘️

March 8-10th, these are some images from our little getaway to the Delaware shore and Ocean City Md.  we enjoyed walking the beach, watching the surfers and the birds at the Delaware Indian River Seashore Park. Later that day we enjoyed the sunset at Ocean City's inlet and we watched the moon rising over the ocean.

Below, me and my shadow on the beach in Delaware, Long-tailed Ducks, Common Loon, a view of the beach and surf, jetty, Bufflehead ducks, beach with people with their dog and gulls and some Brant Geese.

Common Loon? We saw a few that looked young like the Loon below.

Happy Thankful Thursday!

 Happy Thankful Thursday!

I am thankful for some warm sunny days.  😊  I am thankful and appreciate the beauty around me.

Ignoring the chances of catching the virus on March 8-10 hubby and I decided to take a short trip. We went to the Delaware Shore and Ocean City Md.  We waited for months (Jan & Feb) for the weather to be just right for our getaway.  We visited Bombay Hook Nat'l Wildlife Refuge, Delaware's Indian River Inlet seaside park, Ocean City, Assateague Island Nat'l Seashore and last but not least the Blackwater Nat'l Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Md.

These are images from March 8th taken at Bombay Hook NWR and the Indian River Inlet Seaside Park. Click on photos for larger viewing.

Below a large group of American Avocets and two Bald Eagles if you can find them in the tree tops.

A closer look at the American Avocets and a couple of Northern Pintail ducks.

The colorful Northern Shovelers with Northern Pintail ducks.

I felt lucky to find this one Sandhill Crane at Bombay Hook NWR. It was standing not far off from a Great Blue Heron.

Me and my shadow, surfers in the distance. Temps in the mid 50's to low 60's and windy.

We saw a lot of the Long-tailed Ducks at the Indian River Inlet.

I am thankful for a great getaway, walks on the beaches and watching the birds. Fingers crossed hubby and I do not get the virus. Take care and I hope everyone is well.  May good health envelope you!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

💓💓 Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  💕💗

I still have tons of Florida photos but I today am sharing some photos of our recent trip to Ocean City Maryland. It is fun getting away to the beach during the off season. We always check the weather first and the hotels are cheaper off season. The beach is just about empty of people, the gulls are still around.  You must know me by now, I can not go any where without looking for birds, I was hoping for a Snowy Owl but no luck there. We did see lots of sea ducks and cute little shorebirds.

Our first stop near the beach was at the Indian River Inlet, I have seen a Snowy Owl there in the past. We did see 30 or more Long-tailed Ducks, we watched these ducks fly up the inlet, land on the water and float back down. They repeated this countless times while we were there.

The Long-tailed Ducks flying up the Indian River Inlet.

Gulls resting on the jetty at Indian River Inlet.

Brant Geese were on the beach @ Delaware Seashore State Park

Oh, what a beautiful day! I am thankful for beautiful winter days.

I think these are the female White-winged Scoter?

More Long-tailed Ducks, Black Scoter, and Bufflehead.

More White-winged Scoters?

Common Loon or Red-throated Loon?

Lots of Bufflehead females, young male and one adult male almost hidden on far right.

A peek at a Bufflehead, the Black Scoter in the middle and just the head of a Long-tailed Duck.

The pretty sky and beach @ Delaware Seashore State Park

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday, wishing everyone a great day!

Slowly making my way back into blogland.
I am sharing our trip to the Delaware and Maryland beaches on Feb 13-15. I have some photos of the beach and bridge at the Indian River Inlet State Park in Delaware.

A distant photo with a  few Common Loons hanging around the beach and inlet.

A Loon and a female Merganser.

I hope you enjoyed my sky photos and the birds seen at the shore.

I am thankful for having our power turned back on after a windstorm. It was out from the morning of March 2nd to the evening of March 6th.
Thanks to all the linemen and power company workers.

Saturday's Critters #221

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are some birds we saw at the Indian River Inlet, Delaware.  It is neat to see what kind of sea ducks can be found around the inlet.  During our shore getaways we make a point to stop at the inlet and look for birds.

Below on the Indian River State Park beach are the larger Great Black-backed Gull and the smaller Ring-billed Gull. They were both pecking at a large fish on the beach.

Purple Sandpiper

I am not sure but I think this is the Horned Grebe, but I could be wrong. Let me know, if you agree?

We 5-6 Purple Sandpiper moving in and around the rocks on the jetty at the Indian River Inlet, Delaware. Enlarge the photos below and look closely at the rocks, you will see the Purple Sandpipers.

A Common Loon.

Delaware shore

I am linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences
I hope you can join in on the fun and share your fence scenes and pretty skies.

I am continuing our journey along the Delaware shore, we stopped at the Indian River inlet after leaving Bombay Hook and Prime Hook wildlife refuges and beach. The Indian River inlet is a great place to look for the seabirds and gulls.

Hubby and I getting silly with our shadow shots...at the Delaware beaches.

Another shadow shot, a pretty sky and view of the Atlantic Ocean.

There were a lot of Bonaparte's Gulls at the Indian River inlet.

A view of the bridge at the Indian River inlet.

Also seen at the Indian River inlet the Long-tailed Ducks.

More of the Long-tailed Ducks and some Surf Scoters.

It may have been a cold day but the clear blue sky made our visit worthwhile. After leaving the Indian River inlet we headed south to Ocean City, Md and our room for the night.

To see more pretty skies from around the world please visit  Skywatch Friday
and check for more fence shots at Tex's Good Fences

Thanks to Theresa @ The Run*A*Round Ranch for hosting Good Fences this past year it has been fun looking for fences for my post. Also, thank you to Sylvia, Yogi  and Sandy for doing such a great job at hosting Skywatch Friday.    I wish everyone a happy day and weekend ahead..
