Lake Mirror, Lakeland Florida

Hello,

"Don't look back, you're not going that way." unknown

I have found a lot of different birding spots and places to walk from reading various posts on Florida Facebook groups and from Ebird. This post is on our walk at Lake Mirror in Lakeland Florida. We saw various ducks, swans and a few Palm Warblers.

Thankful Thursday: I am thankful for each sunrise and sunset, a simple pleasure. I am especially thankful for my family and friends. Thanks to Michelle for the meme Thankful Thursday

I will start off with our lakeside sunrise for my Skywatch photo. November 2nd, it was a beautiful start to our day.

The walkway around the lake, some parts have the stone wall for protection.

A Palm Warbler on the walkway

The Common Shelduck is a Eurasian bird but can be purchased in the USA. They may have been purchased by the city of Lakeland. They hang out at Lake Mirror in downtown Lakeland.

The Mandarin duck below, the male is gorgeous. It is another non native duck for the USA and Florida. They seem to be able to move around freely.

Various ducks, Muscovy, White Ibis and some Geese hang out at this lake.

One of many sculptures that can be seen around Lake Mirror. A pretty sky and a cool sculpture.

Downtown Lakeland has a few lakes and in and around these lakes are hundreds of birds all for my viewing pleasure, lol. I hope you enjoyed my photos. Thank you for your visit and comments on my post. Enjoy your day and the weekend ahead!

May you find moments that make you smile today! Happy Saturday!

I am sharing some of the birds hubby and I saw during our visit to Ocala Florida. This was at a local park called Tuscawilla Park. This was a great local park jammed pack with birds.

Thanks to my Florida blogging friend Wildlifewatcher posting about this same park. I hope you can visit her blog.

Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, is it just me or do some of these whistling ducks have grouchy looking faces.

A Cormorant, Egret and more Whistling Ducks. LOL, I think they are all camera shy and turned their heads. Or, I just caught them all during their nap time.

Lake Hollingsworth, Lakeland Florida

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

For this week's Good Fence and Skywatch Friday memes I am sharing more birds, skies and fences from our visit to Lakeland Florida. On this day we walked close to three miles around Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland Florida. It was a little foggy in the early morning, we could not even see the whole lake during our walk.

Above is one of many of the Limpkins we saw during our walk.

Scenes from our walk around the lake, ducks were plentiful and lots of fences in front of the big homes on the lake. My contribution for Tex's Good fences above. During our walk, various groups of ducks would actually run up to us like they were greeting old friends. I know they were looking for food but we did not have anything for them.

This may have been one of the few days we did not have sunny skies while in Florida.. A foggy look at the lake..that is if you can see the lake.

Not a lifer, but one of my favorite Florida birds the Purple Gallinule. It's beak color is different than the Moorhen or Common Gallinule.

A look at the sky, trees and fence as we walked around the lake. Another combo fence and sky shot for both of the memes. I love the trees. I am pretty sure later in day the weather was much better.

It was easy this morning to look straight into the sun..this is it folks, my view of the sky on this day.

More of the Lakeland Birds we saw during our walk around the lake. On the top row: Little Blue Heron, Wood Stork with Limpkin, Mallards or Mottled ducks.  Bottom Row: White Pelicans, Wood Ducks, Duck family.

I hope you enjoyed this series of skies, fences and birds. I know you all know me by now, I can not do a post without my birds, lol! Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..
