A walk in the woods

I am linking up with  Mosaic Monday  and Our World Tuesday

I can not believe how fast the week is going, and it is hard to believe it is Sunday already.  I have some photos of recent scenes from our local walk in the woods. As I am walking I am seeing the leaves falling, being a birder seeing movement automatically draws my attention. Sometimes I look from a distance at what I believe is a male cardinal in a tree and it turns out to be a red leaf. Are the leaves falling earlier this year? We are lucky to live near a pine forest so we have green year round which I love.

Above are some of the scenes I saw last week while taking a walk. There are all kinds of berries, some of the berries I recognize are the pretty purple Devil's Walking stick berries, there are still some wild flowers blooming, a few different flycatchers showing up, some warblers are moving south and my pretty favorite.. the Red-Breasted Nuthatch.

The fireroad going thru the pine trees, the grass seems to be growing fast and hopefully they will come and cut it soon.

I am not sure if this is one of those confusing fall warblers or a flycatcher or could it be a vireo?

I am not sure what kind of berries these are but if the birds like them I like them too. The splash of bright red is pretty.

These are the Devil's walking stick berries and the warblers seem to love them.

The Gray Catbirds also seem to love the berries.

I always love to see any kind of wildflowers along the trails.

The Red-Breasted Nuthatch seem to be all over the woods near my house. They makes the cutest sounds.

I hope you enjoyed my walk and photos.

SWF>Blue Moon & Reflections

Hi another week has rolled around and I am linking up my post with Skywatch Friday

These are some local shots of our reservoir, the blue moon and a few of my yard birds.

In morning before leaving for work I was able to catch the almost full Blue Moon setting.

The sky from my deck, the clouds were beautiful.

One of my pretties, the American Goldfinch found something yummy on this seashell I have sitting on my deck.

A first of the winter season bird has already arrived to the woods around my house, a really Red-breasted Nuthatch. What a cutie one of my favorites. I hope this does not mean we will be having an early winter. I am not looking forward to snow at all.

The reflection of the sky on the lake.

In the evening the blue moon was rising above the lake. I hope you enjoyed my skies and birds of course.

Thanks to Sylvia and Sandy for hosting Skywatch Friday!. Thank you for stopping by to see my post. I wish everyone a safe and happy weekend.

Some of my winter birds.

I get to see some pretty birds in the winter months at my feeders. The Pine Siskins and the Red Breasted Nuthatch are two of my favorites.

A few years ago I was host to at least a hundred Pine Siskins. They ate a lot of seed but it was so much fun watching so many on my deck and at my feeders. This year I have been seeing may 4-5 Pine Siskins maybe a little more at times. And sometimes  I can see at least 3 Red Breasted Nuthatches at one time.

Below, there are three Pine Siskins on this feeder with a Goldfinch on the feeder below.

One of my favorite webcam shots has the Pine Siskins on the feeder and the Cardinal in flight

The Red Breasted Nuthatch is one of my favorites.

I have been lucky to have a Pine Warbler visit my feeders for the past few years. His bright yellow color sure is a pretty addition to my yard. Sorry, this photo was taken thru my dining room window and is not the best quality.

The Pine Warbler is posing pretty for the birdcam on this shot.

Some of these I took with Canon and others are from my birdcam setup on my deck. I hope you enjoyed my winter birdies.

Some people have asked about my birdcam which was bought at Amazon.  Here is a link Wingscapes Birdcam .  It takes 4 d size batteries and is weatherproof. It gives you three choices for foccus distances, which is also great.  I also have the arm which swivels around is can mount on a shephards hook. I have been really surprised and happy with the photos.
