Assateague National Seashore

Happy Thursday,  I wish everyone a happy day!

I am sharing some photos from our visit to Delaware & Maryland shores. Ocean City and I have some photos from Assateague Island National Seashore, Maryland. We made a few visits to the park during our trip to the beach.

The first photo is the sunset from Ocean City Maryland inlet.

Ocean City Maryland

Not sure if these are Ring-billed Gulls, Ocean City, Md?

"Make peace of mind your priority."

This may be a flock of Snow Buntings, we never did see them on the ground or close up. We just watched their flight pattern.

My Saturday's critter post has more of my wild pony photos.

A view of the park's beach.

Saturday's Critters #221

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are some birds we saw at the Indian River Inlet, Delaware.  It is neat to see what kind of sea ducks can be found around the inlet.  During our shore getaways we make a point to stop at the inlet and look for birds.

Below on the Indian River State Park beach are the larger Great Black-backed Gull and the smaller Ring-billed Gull. They were both pecking at a large fish on the beach.

I am not sure but I think this is the Horned Grebe, but I could be wrong. Let me know, if you agree?

We 5-6 Purple Sandpiper moving in and around the rocks on the jetty at the Indian River Inlet, Delaware. Enlarge the photos below and look closely at the rocks, you will see the Purple Sandpipers.

Lake Erie, Pennsylvania

Happy Thanksgiving, wishing everyone a great day! Be safe if you are traveling to eat your turkey dinner. I am publishing this post a day early in case bloggers will be away for the holiday. I'll be cooking.

On this post,  I am sharing some photos from our trip to Erie Pennsylvania and a visit to the Presque Isle State Park.  My hubby has an old friend that grew up in Erie Pa and he always talked to us about the Presque Isle State Park. I think he knew we would enjoy the scenery and views, the birds and the lighthouse. We finally made the trip and now I am sharing the scenes with you.

We arrived at the Presque Isle State Park located on Lake Erie late in the day. We decided to sit on the beach near the lighthouse and watch the sunset. If any of my blogging friends visited my travel blog some of these photos may look familiar. :)

There were a bunch of gulls around to entertain us, I believe they are the Ring-billed Gull.

I played with the stones and sticks on the beach, here is my beach man.  Hubby was my model.

The Presque Isle Lighthouse

Hubby and I on the beach at Presque Isle State Park, Erie Pa. Our shadows are our faithful companions. They follow us everywhere.

Lake Erie looks like an ocean, so big.

It was a lovely sunset.

A sun puddle, all that was left after the sun went down into Lake Erie.

I am thankful to see each and every sunset and sunrise.
I am always thankful for my family, health, home and for good friends and for the food on our table!
I am thankful for good friends.
I am always thankful for your visits and your comments.

Virginia Beach, Virginia

Below is a list of memes I am joining for this week, and to save time I am doing one post for all. They are all fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts. Special thanks to all the wonderful host and their memes, I hope you have some time to check them out.

I am sharing our most recent trip March 22-24. A two night, three day road trip to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Side excursions were stops at the Great Dismal Swamp NWR, Back Bay NWR, Chincoteague Island National Seashore. We saw some beautiful sunrises, sunsets and the moon rising over the Atlantic Ocean. Lots of birds, turtles and even some butterflies.

My first time visiting Virginia Beach,Virginia, sharing our shadows.

Above the boardwalk, turtle sculptures, gulls on the beach and the surfer sculpture. I am always having fun taking our shadow shots. I think we missed the Spring Breakers, it was not crowded at all. Just the way we like to spend time at the beach.

A Ring-billed gull on the beach.

Not many people but plenty of gulls on the beach..I love the beachy colors of the sand, ocean and the sky.

The hotel pool was closed for the winter season, but the Mallard ducks claimed the pool for themselves.

Our first sunrise at Virginia Beach!

Sharing a map of our road trip to Virginia Beach, Great Dismal Swamp NWR, Back Bay NWR and Chincoteague Island National Seashore. It was a great trip, it is always great to visit new places.

As always, I appreciate the visits and your nice comments.  Have a happy new week ahead!

Loch Raven Reservoir

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

I am sharing last weekend's walk at the Loch Raven Reservoir..It was a pretty day to be out walking and this is a nice spot when they close the road for the weekend for the walkers, bikers and joggers. All kinds of peeps were out enjoying the scenery and weather..

Loch Raven is one of three reservoirs in Baltimore county, they hold the drinking water for Baltimore City...

In the winter months the ducks, gulls and coots seem to make Loch Raven their winter home.

We saw 4-5 eagles..both adult Bald Eagles and the juveniles..In the mosaic above and the photo on the left there is an adult eagle sitting in the top of one of the pine trees .

Can you find it?

I love the reflection shot of the Canada Geese and I was amazed at the numbers of American Coots.. There must have beeen hundreds of them in rows on the lake and along the shores..

One of my favorite shots from our outing.. I hope you enjoyed my walk and post..I wish you all a happy week, a happy January and a happy New Year.

I use Pic Monkey to create my mosaics, you can use Pic Monkey free or pay for an upgraded version.
I hope you can join in on our fun at  Mosaic Monday and   Our World Tuesday

Middle Creek WMA

I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

Wishing everyone a Happy Saint Patrick's Day!..and here is an Irish blessing for you!

Middle Creak Wildlife Management Area includes a 400 acre impoundment. It is a prime destination for the wildlife and for people who enjoy seeing wildlife..Hubby and I were surprised at the number of cars on the wildlife tour. It seems everyone knew the Snow Geese arrived.. The self -guided driving tour is open from March 1 to September 15.

Middle Creek WMA is nestled in the middle of farmland on the border of Lancaster county and Lebanon county, Pennsylvania. It was created as a waterfowl refuge for the Canada Geese flyway. The big attraction is seeing the Snow Geese are making their way back to their breeding grounds to the tundra of Northern Canada and Alaska.

If they feel threatened at times the flock of Snow Geese will lift off and make lots of noise..

We also saw some pretty Killdeer along with a group of Ring-bill Gulls..

More Tundra Swans coming in for a landing..It was easy to tell  the Tundra Swans apart from the Snow Geese.  The Tundra Swans are all white underneath and the Snow Geese have some black on their wings.

It is like being in a snow storm when the Snow Geese come swirling down from the sky. From the 1970's up to the present the Snow Geese numbers increased over the years along with the numbers of Tundra Swans.  It was reported this week as many as 60,000 Snow Geese were seen and close to 5000 Tundra Swans.. Definitely a cool sight to see and hear.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the Snow Geese and Tundra Swans..if you are in the area it is a great place to stop and see. I am ending my post with another cute Irish blessing and wish for you.

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too
And a host of friends that never ends
each day your whole life through!
