Saturday's Critters #77

Saturday's Critters #77

Happy weekend, everyone!

It's the first Saturday in June and the first day of the Summer Solstice is June 21st. It has felt chilly here and we had some rain over the past week. I am looking forward to warm summer days. Ok, it's time to share your critters.  Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.

For this week's critters I am sharing some of my yard birds and my grand puppy Nibbles. Soon we will be puppy sitting when my son takes a short trip to the beach, it will be like having a dog again. Some of these shots were taken back in May but I have not shared them until now.

My cute Ruby-throated Hummingbird, he is on guard watching his feeders.

A Gray Catbird has been seen around the yard.

The Indigo Bunting has been seen almost every day lately..

One of my all time favorites the Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

The House Wren is one of my loudest yard birds. It seems to be fussing at something all the time..

I've been hear and seeing the Great-crested Flycatcher around my yard too.

The view from my treadmill window..a bunny and a chipmunk.

Nibbles not quite 6 months old yet, she is a little on the wild side. I hope you enjoyed this collection of yard birds and Nibbles.
Thank you so much for visiting and commenting and for linking up to my critter party. Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks to Tex Theresa aka Tex, I was able to add this link up button and thanks to  Jennifer for creating my photo badge.

George's Creek

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

Hello, everyone.. Fall is almost here ( starts tomorrow the 22nd)  and I just can not believe how fast the summer went.. We had a cool summer here, not the usual hot & humid days that we are used to.. LOL, I feel cheated..

These are some photos from our weekend walk at our local George's Creek.. it is a creek that leads into our Prettyboy reservoir.. Hubby and I have enjoyed our walks along the creek each time seeing something different..

These are some of the scenes from our walk..the pretty Swallowtail and Fritillary butterflies. Some wildflowers and ferns seen along the creek.

Swallowtail and Fritallary butterflies..

I am not sure what these little orange flowers are called but, it was obvious the Ruby-throated Hummingbird was enjoying their nectar.

A sweet hummer, I will miss them when they head south.. I wish I could go with them.  I am not looking forward to this winter..

Some slider turtles sunning themselves on a log, an Eastern Box Turtle, wildflowers, Fritillary Butterfly and a Canada Goose.

I hope you enjoyed these nature scenes and photos.  I am glad you came along on our walk..

As always I thank you in advance for stopping by and for the nice comments.

4th of July weekend

I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

These are some scenes from my 4th of July weekend.. We had a nice weekend, dinner out with our son, seeing the fireworks with a good friend and some neighbor photos..

Marlow is my neighbor's dog, a few weeks ago he was hit by a car in front of our house. He looked pretty bad on that day and yesterday I was able to go and visit with him. He is home from the re-hab vet hospital and is still recovering from fractures on his spine and has to take medicine for the next 8 weeks to keep him calm. Please send a prayer for Marlow! I wish him well, he is such a happy cute dog..

While visiting Marlow in our neighbor's front yard, I was able to see the Great Blue Herons in their nest.. It looked like three rather large heron chicks..The chicks are loud and fussy.. I can hear them loud and clear from my yard, they can sound like wild animals fighting..

These are some of my backyard birds from this weekend..The Eastern Bluebird, Ruby-throated Hummingbird and the Northern Cardinal..My version of red, white and blue..

On July 4th hubby and I visited with my friend Janis, I wanted to see her new puppy dog Elsa.. Also included are Piglet, Elsa in the middle and guinea pig Guinness.

Also, from July 4th the moon and firework display from Jacobus, Pa.

I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July and or your weekend. I am happy to see you visit my post and photos.

Thanks for stopping by and for the comments.

Saturday walk

I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

On Saturday, hubby and I took our walk on one of the local fireroads. I had not been this direction for some time and I was amazed to see how many down trees there were across the fireroad.. This past winters ice storms and snow caused so many trees to come down. During our walk we had to either climb under, go across or around the downed trees. It was like a workout on an obstacle course.

During our walk on the fireroad we spotted another Great Blue heron on a nest.. You can just barely make out the yellow beak.. Some scenes from along the fireroad..bottom left looks like a deer's jawbone?

A first of the season, the Ovenbird seen along the fireroad.  A breeder in the forest next to us.

Still looks like winter, we can see the lake from the fireroad.. I am looking forward to seeing everything green again.

Back in the yard, my first hummer sighting of the season, redbud tree, cherry blossoms, bleeding heart plant, waterlilies in the small pond

A closeup of the weeping cherry blossoms.

I was so happy to see the hummingbirds return to the yard.. I was happy that I recently hung the hummingbird feeders.

A view from the deck of our weeping cherry tree and the redbud tree.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and my weekend walk.. Thanks for stopping by and for the comments..

Linking up Camera Critters and I'd-Rather-b-birdin
I hope you are joining in and posting your birds and critters.

These are some scenes from last weekend up thru today.  Mostly sharing shots of my yardbirds, I am never tired of watching my yardbirds. The migrating warblers have been a real treat to see stopping in my yard for some berries. I believe last Saturday was my last sighting of my Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.  I will leave the hummer feeders up in case there are any hummers traveling south and need to stop for a re-fill.

The shot above and the one below are the beautiful Cape May Warbler.

The Nashville Warbler...I was wondering who named the warblers. There are many that have the names of places..like Nashville and Cape May...Tennessee...Connecticut...Canada....Kentucky.

A pretty juvenile Nashville Warbler.

One of my regular year round birds...the Carolina Chickadee.

Possibly my last sighting of the Ruby-throated Humming bird..until next year...see you then.

Goldie Girl goes for a walk to the lake.

Last but not least..a chipper to make you laugh!!! He/she has a peanut in each cheek and tried to take another. I hope you enjoyed this series of birds and critters.

Thanks for stopping by and  I wish everyone a happy weekend.

Backyard Birds

I am linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes

September 9, 2013

This weekend in between running errands and taking our weekend walk, I did find time to check out my backyard birds. I am hoping to see some warblers pass thru like they did last year. I have plenty of pokeberries and berries on the Devils Walking stick. So, I am ready! Come on Warblers!

Above is a Gray Catbird and in the background is a blurry Tufted Titmouse.

This is a little better shot of the Tufted Titmouse.

A fluffy looking Carolina Chickadee enjoying his seed.

A female Ruby-throated Hummingbird has taken over the duty of protecting the feeders.

The hummer enjoying the hibiscus flower and plant.

I love my hummers and I will miss them when they head south, for now I am taking lots of  hummer photos.

I love my hummingbirds.

A beautiful male American Goldfinch still showing off his pretty color.

I was happy to see the Black-throated Blue Warbler on my deck, I know this is an awful shot. But, it is my record of seeing this warbler in my yard.

I will end this post with a cute Chipping Sparrow. I hope you enjoyed my backyard birds.

Birds, Butterflies and blooms

I am linking up Camera Critters and I'd-Rather-b-birdin

August 3, 2013

I hope you will join in on the fun and share your critters and birds. My post is on the birds, butterflies and blooms in my yard.

I love sitting on my deck and watching the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds, I am seeing around six of them at my feeders. They are such fun to be around, sometimes there is a juvie that will hover right in front of my chair.

This is the second year for this hibiscus plant, we brought the plant inside for the winter. It is not very full and bushy but it seems to be blooming very well.

The beak on this hummer looks weird, I am not sure if it not developed all the way or if something happened to it? I believe the hummer is a juvenile, I hope it is Ok.

The hummingbirds have been seen sitting on the branches of this trumpet vine.

Seen on the same evening I was watching the hummer show..a male Scarlet Tanager in the treetop above my yard. The Scarlet Tanager is a breeder in the woods next to my house.

I included these butterfly shots in one of my mosaics in a previous post but now I am showing just the photos. Above is the Tiger Swallowtail.  One of the more common butterflies seen in my yard.

A little ragged but a beautiful Black Swallowtail.

A Sulfur on the Purple Coneflowers. I hope you enjoyed this post,
