Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

On our way home from Ocean City, Md we took a detour to the Blackwater Nat'l Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Md. We drove the wildlife drive twice, seeing many Bald Eagles, Canada Geese, Snow Geese. Tundra Swans and various ducks.

Below I see the Tundra Swans, Canada Geese and a few Northern Pintail ducks.

One lone White Pelican greeted us close to the wildlife drive entrance.

A distance out on the river, the Snow Geese.

We saw a lot of Bald Eagles, it was hard getting all in one photo this shot shows 2 adult Eagles. We counted 6 Bald Eagles in this one area all just sitting in the trees.

This Great Blue Heron had a mouthful of fish.

Adult Bald Eagle and a juvenile Bald Eagle on an old Osprey nest.

We saw many bald Eagles on the nest, this nest below looked huge even from a distance.

A Bald Eagle takes off after seeing the Snow Geese take off.

Saturday's Critters #104

Saturday's Critters #104

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

I am sharing some of the birds from the Blackwater Nat'l Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Maryland. We stopped here for a quick visit on the way home from the beach.. It breaks up the drive home, we took a walk on the Marsh Edge Trail and drove on the wildlife drive.

It is nice to see the White Pelicans enjoying Blackwater NWR. I think there was a count of 40-50 White Pelicans. Their numbers increase each time I visit.

There was a good number of Tundra Swans also seen from the wildlife drive.

We also saw the Canada Geese, we were a little early to see the Snow Geese.

A number of Great Blue Herons were seen from the drive.

Lesser or Greater Yellowlegs?

Not the best shot of the White Pelican in flight with some Terns, maybe Forster's Terns? I hope you enjoyed coming along with me to Blackwater NWR. As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

Saturday's Critters #83

It's Saturday and it's time to share your critters.. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.

For my critters I am sharing more birds from Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park. I am happy that these birds have a home and were rescued but it is sad to see just how many birds needed to be rescued and rehabbed.

Above the Great Blue Heron with a fish dinner and a Black Vulture nearby.

The Yellow Crowned Night Heron.

More of the breeding Brown Pelicans and a Cormorant showing off. Can you find the male Wood Duck?

Two Great Horned Owls.

The Barred Owl.

Two White Pelicans, they seem to be happy in this park and I guess it is good that they have a safe and happy home. I hope you enjoyed my visit to the wildlife park. As always thank you for stopping by, for all the nice comments and for participating with my Saturday's Critter party!

I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.

I have more birds and critters to share from our trip to Florida. Merritt Island NWR and the Canaveral National Seashore are on the Atlantic Ocean side of Florida. This was the first time hubby and I traveled around this part of Florida.  I assume you know by now, the birds and critters are a big part of our vacations.. I hope you enjoy.

We watched the Northern Gannet's diving into the Atlantic Ocean from the Canaveral National Seashore.

I had to really zoom in for this groups of Gannets..

Not the best shot taken thru the car window but this was my first time ever seeing an Armadillo. It was seen walking along the road at the Canaveral National Seashore.

This gator was at the Merritt Island NWR..We spent three nights close to this refuge. I knew it would be a great place to see the birds and critters..

We saw the Brown Pelicans and the White Pelicans at the Merritt Island NWR and the Canaveral National Seashore..I have much more from Merritt Island I will be saving them for another post.. Thanks for stopping by and I always appreciate the nice comments.. I am looking forward to seeing your critters now..HAPPY WEEKEND!

American White Pelican

Linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes

For this week's wild bird I am sharing the American White Pelican.. It is one of North America's largest birds. The Pelicans remind me of a prehistoric bird.

A view of the Pelican's white and black wings..

Both  the White and Brown Pelicans are another one of my favorite birds..Groups of Pelicans have been known to work together to herd fish..

A side look at the Pelican's pouch. They use the pouch to scoop up fish..

We saw a lot of White Pelicans during our Outer Banks, NC visit. But, the Brown Pelicans out numbered most of the birds we saw.. In the Outer Banks there is a place called Pelican Island. A known Brown Pelican rookery that began in the 1980's. Between 500-1500 Brown Pelican fledglings can emerge from this rookery.

Another view of the Pelican's huge wing span..  I hope you enjoyed my Pelican post..   Till next week's wild bird post.. I wish you happy Birding and have a wonderful week!
