Chincoteague skies

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

We completed the huge loop on our way home from the Outer Banks NC driving across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel near Norfolk and then we headed to Chincoteague Island, Va. It was a foggy morning but by the time we made it to Chincoteague the sun was coming out and we decided to stay another night. We had enough points to get a free night stay at our favorite Chincoteague hotel..So I have some more birds and some pretty sky shots for Skywatch Friday to share and of course some fences for Tex's Good Fence party..

Chincoteague NWR Snow geese.

Snow geese and the sunset..

The hotel  is just outside the entrance of the park, we were up early to enjoy the sunrise too.  The Chincoteague ponies were standing along side the road as we drove to the parking lot at the beach..

Sunrise at the Chincoteague beach..

Great Egrets in the distance and a fence scene for Tex's Good Fences meme.

Another shot of the Chincoteague ponies and I see a fence there keeping the horses off the road..But, they still find a way to the road..

Another sky shot for Skywatch Friday.. I though this was a cool scene, a hole in the sky and the jet contrails..

More of the Snow Geese at Tom's Cove, Chincoteague NWR.  I hope you enjoyed my skies and the Snow Geese and the wild ponies of Chincoteague..

Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..

Eastern Meadowlark

Linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes

For this week's wild bird I am sharing the Eastern Meadowlark.  It is a beautiful medium sized songbird.. I do not see them near my home very often, due to the farmland is disappearing.. But,  I was thrilled to see not just one but five of them on the grounds at the Bodie Island Lighthouse in the Outer Banks, NC.

They were still a distance away and my photos are not as clear as I would like.. But, I enjoyed seeing them, I could not fit all five in one photo. So I had to take several shots.

The Eastern Meadowlark will stalk thru the grasses probing for insects will their long bill.  They are beautiful birds with their bright yellow underparts and a bold V on their chest..

Till next week's wild bird post.. I wish you happy Birding and have a wonderful week!

Outer Banks continued

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

I hope everyone does not mind but I am still going thru our photos from Nags Head and the Outer Banks, North Carolina.. We had a great time enjoying the ocean, beach and all the birds.. The sunrises and sunsets were amazing, just the kind of trip hubby and I enjoy...all about nature...

Above a Northern Harrier, sunrise, shadow shot, American Wigeon, Song Sparrow, moon.

Sunrise at Nags Head. "Delight in the beauty that surrounds you" unknown author. A quote that hubby and I live by...

In the mosaic above are some Sanderlings on the beach, Great Egrets, White Ibis in flight, GB Heron & Coots, Brown Pelicans on the beach and sunset..

I always enjoy watching  the Northern Harrier. Some Tundra Swans in the distance are feeling safe.

At sunset a few Brown Pelican on the island, near their rookery. It was amazing seeing so many Brown Pelicans! There were more Pelicans then I could fit in one photo.

Just for fun...here is my great-nephew Neill with Santa..I believe this is the first time I have seen him crying..He is still a cutie!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos..

I hope you can join in on our fun at  Mosaic Monday and   Our World Tuesday

Thanks to Judith our  host of Mosaic Monday and to the hosting group of Our World Tuesday: Arija, Gattina, Lady Fi, Sylvia, Sandy and Jennifer.  I wish everyone a happy week ahead!

Saturday's Critters #52

Saturday's Critters #52

Happy weekend everyone! Wow 52 Saturday's Critters have flown by. I can not believe it has been a year already.

Ok, it's time to share your critters.. Any kind of critter will do.. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit..Also, I hope you can check out the post at Annis's I'd-Rather-B-Birdin.  You should also check out Misty Dawn's Camera Critters.

I am sharing some more birds and critters seen during our Nags Head, Outer Banks trip..

A pretty American Wigeon seen at the Pea Island NWR in the Outer Banks.

The American Avocets are beautiful birds.

A cute Pied-billed Grebe another one of my favorite birds.

I believe this could be a Pilot Whale! It was seen from the beach near our Nags Head hotel.. Hubby and I enjoyed watching the dolphins and these Pilot Whales. I watched the dolphins playing in the waves close to shore. An awesome sight to see. The Dolphins we saw were gray in color and what I think is the Pilot Whale were darker black sea mammals swimming by.

A cool sighting..the dolphins and pilot whales.. I hope you enjoyed my birds and mammal from the Outer Banks.. It is an awesome place to visit, even during the off season..

Thanks to Tex Theresa aka Tex, I was able to add this link up button and thanks to  Jennifer for creating my photo badge.

Thank you for linking up to the critter party. I also appreciate the visits, comments and the support of my blogging friends................... Have a happy weekend!

More from Nags Nead

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

We were in Nags Head, North Carolina from Nov 29 to Dec 3rd.. So we saw a few sunrises and sunsets and lots of birds..  I hope you enjoy the scenes from our trip!

Sunrise on the beach outside our Nags Head hotel.

Four Tundra Swans flying over the Pea Island NWR.

The lookout at the Bodie Island Lighthouse park..and a pretty blue sky. I thought the fence rails would be a good shot for my Good Fence post.

Here is an American Pipit seen on the grass area outside the Pea Island NWR visitor center.

They mean it, keep off the dunes..another fence scene for Tex's Good Fence.

A Ruddy Turnstone on the beach..Outer Banks, North Carolina...

And here is one more fence scene and a long boardwalk to the beach and over the dunes..

A pretty blue sky and a beautiful day to be at the beach...

A pretty skywatch...sunset at Nags Head..heading back to our hotel..I liked the tree silhouettes and colors in the shot above.

A view of the moon after the sunset..  Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..
