Around the yard_Jan 5

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

For my Good Fence post and Skywatch Friday I am sharing some of my backyard skies, fence scenes and I always throw in some birds..

A threesome sitting in my weeping cherry tree. Included are the Mr & Mrs House Finch and a Mourning Dove.

A sunrise seen from my driveway, I like the trees, clouds and little bits of blue sky.

My deck is usually covered with Mourning Doves in the early morning.. A fence shot with the deck railing and link fence showing behind and blue tarp covering our wood pile..

The sky looking over our roof ..

The squirrels can always be found eating my bird's seed and lately a raccoon has been making a mess with the bird feeders too.  Can you find the Junco in the shot above?

This is a Junco, just in case you do not know what they look like.  Do you see one in the photo above?

For another fence scene, my deck railing loaded with bird food..I hope this counts as a fence.. A piggie squirrel and a couple of Mourning Doves looking like they would rather be on that feeder.

The almost full moon, I took this shot of the moon from my driveway one evening..One tree limb sticking out over the right side of the moon.

Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Great Blue Heron

Linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes

For this week's wild bird I am featuring the Great Blue Heron.  Some shots taken recently at the Bombay Hook NWR.

I wish you a happy and magical New Year. I hope it brings you lots of new birds, joy and happiness. All the best in 2015.

The Great Blue Heron is a common bird found near the shores of open water and wetlands.

The Great Blue Heron is the largest Heron in North America.

These herons usually nest in trees or bushes near the water edge.

Herons locate their food by sight and usually swallow it whole.

Along with a few ducks, some Canada geese there are three Great Blue Herons lined up on the edge of the water..I hope you enjoyed my wild bird post..
Till next week's wild bird post.. I wish you happy Birding and have a wonderful week!

Loch Raven Reservoir

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

I am sharing last weekend's walk at the Loch Raven Reservoir..It was a pretty day to be out walking and this is a nice spot when they close the road for the weekend for the walkers, bikers and joggers. All kinds of peeps were out enjoying the scenery and weather..

Loch Raven is one of three reservoirs in Baltimore county, they hold the drinking water for Baltimore City...

In the winter months the ducks, gulls and coots seem to make Loch Raven their winter home.

We saw 4-5 eagles..both adult Bald Eagles and the juveniles..In the mosaic above and the photo on the left there is an adult eagle sitting in the top of one of the pine trees .

Can you find it?

I love the reflection shot of the Canada Geese and I was amazed at the numbers of American Coots.. There must have beeen hundreds of them in rows on the lake and along the shores..

One of my favorite shots from our outing.. I hope you enjoyed my walk and post..I wish you all a happy week, a happy January and a happy New Year.

I use Pic Monkey to create my mosaics, you can use Pic Monkey free or pay for an upgraded version.
I hope you can join in on our fun at  Mosaic Monday and   Our World Tuesday

Happy weekend everyone and Happy New Year! I am glad to see you sharing your critters.. Any kind of critter will do, even if you have an older post it will do.. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit..

Also, I hope you can check out the post at Anni's I'd-Rather-B-Birdin.  You should also check out Misty Dawn's Camera Critters.

These shots are from last weekend's walk at Loch Raven Reservoir..

A mixture of Canada Geese, Ringed-necked Ducks, Gadwall and possibly some other ducks..

Rows of Coots.. I was amazed at how many Coots there were, I could not fit them all in the photo..

This could be a Hairy woodpecker but I am not sure sometimes the angle and distance can throw off the size of the bird. To id you are supposed to look at the beak and head size..

Fort McHenry, Baltimore

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

I appreciate all my blogging friends for their visit and wonderful comments thru-out the year! I wish everyone all the best in 2015, Happy New Year!

The day after Christmas was a beautiful day to be outside. Hubby and I joined up with my hubby's cousin for a walk around Fort McHenry in Baltimore.. It has a nice walkway along the water with view of the Fort which is famous for the Star-Spangled Banner written by Francis Scott Key..

I took some shots of the Fort's canons, the flag, fences and the sky..Oh I can not forget some ducks in the Baltimore Harbor.. Later in the day I took some shots of the waxing crescent moon from my deck..

A couple of Mallard duck, the Baltimore harbor and a view of the neighborhood Canton across the way.

A Double-crested Cormorant flying by.

A view of Fort McHenry, the flag and a fence scene for Tex's Good Fences meme.

A beautiful sunny day, the water glistening along the harbor's walkway..

The Bufflehead ducks seemed plentiful around the harbor..

Another view of the Fort's canons, flag and the fence..

The sky and a pretty tree seen along the harbor's walkway.

A lone male Bufflehead duck floating in the Baltimore harbor.

Continuing on our walk around the fort, another view of the Fort's flag and fence..

More Bufflehead ducks see on the calm water.

Another sky shot for Skywatch Friday, a view of the Francis Scott Key bridge..

Back home a shot of the waxing crescent moon seen from my deck..I hope you enjoyed our walk along the Baltimore Harbor and Fort McHenry..Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..
