Around the yard_Feb 7

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday   They are both fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun or check out some of the post.

I am sharing some photos and scenes from around our yard for the past week maybe a little over a week.. I think everyone knows by now I love taking photos of the moon.. The shots are straight out of my camera (Canon SX40) which has awesome superzoom.. No extra lenses are necessary.. And I do not have a tripod so all my photos are handheld.. some of the bird shots are taken from my dining room window.. I can stay warm and still enjoy seeing the birds outside my window..I hope you enjoy this series of images and the mosaics..

A few of my yardbirds, the American Goldfinches, Carolina Chickadee and the male Northern Cardinal are all year round visitors to my yard..

The Northern Cardinals are usually shy around me and my camera.. They take off as soon as they notice me..

The full moon was gorgeous...

One moon shot is at 109X and the closeup is at 140X.. also bottom right is a sunrise through the trees..this was taken from my driveway..

I like this shot of the moon with Jupiter (upper right) nearby.. The cloud lit up and on the right side one cloud has some colors..click to a larger image to see the beauty.

I thank you for your visits and all the wonderful comments..

Saturday's Critters #60

Saturday's Critters #60

It's a new month and the first Saturday in February and now it's time to share your critters.. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.

For my post this week I am sharing some of my yardbirds...A female Cardinal in the snow...

A female Downy Woodpecker on my pergola.

A few Cedar Waxwings have been showing up..there must be some berries they like nearby.

A couple of Dark-eyed Juncos on the thistle sock feeder.

The one and only Pine Siskin I have seen on my feeders this year..

I have plenty of Mourning Doves hanging around..

One of my more popular feeders with some House Finches.

Since I've retired and I am not always able to get outside for my walks I use my treadmill everyday and watch the birds outside the window while walking.. On this day the Eastern Towhee stopped by..I hope you enjoyed my birds and post..Again I thank you for linking up to the critter party. I also appreciate the visits, comments and the support of my blogging friends................... Have a happy weekend!

Bombay Hook NWR

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

Sharing my photos from our most recent visit to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware.. a sunrise shot and some scenes from our birding outing to Delaware.. We stopped at Port Mahon to look for owls and than we drove part of the wildlife drive at Bombay Hook NWR.. We were sad to see part of the wildlife drive was closed for hunting..I wish I had known in advance about the closure :(

For Skywatch Friday...the sunrise seen during our drive, I had to pull off the road to get this shot..

Port Mahon Road we searched for the Snowy Owl and Short Eared Owls but no luck there. We did see a young Red Tailed Hawk or Red Shouldered? And a adult Bald Eagle..

We stood on the pier to be up higher to look for the owls above the grasses.. This is the view from the pier looking out at the Delaware Bay. I hope this shot counts for both Skywatch and Good Fences..

Some of the birds we saw on the wildlife drive at Bombay Hook NWR. A Horned Lark, two more hawks and a Great Blue Heron.

Above a frozen pond, some Tundra Swans, ducks and gulls..

A couple of Tundra Swans and Canada Geese and a gull.

On the way home from Delaware..a shot for my Good Fence post.. a drive by barn and fence scene..

To end my post I have  my capture of the crescent moon taken the evening before our Delaware trip..

I hope you enjoyed our Delaware day trip and photos.. Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Mosaic Monday_Feb 1

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

Hello, I can not believe it is February 1st, the time is just going by so quickly. I am sharing a review of the past month of January..It was a fast month, the days just flew by. I have to say I LOVE being retired...I can run out chasing a life bird, My Common Redpoll lifer..We can go on getaways to the shore, then there are the simple pleasures of watching the sunrise, sunset, the various phases of the moon and just taking a walk locally.. And of course just being able to relax and not worry about the snowstorms.. I can just sit back and watch my yardbirds and critters in the snow...

I enjoyed my month of January and I hope you had a great month also.. I am looking forward to seeing what February will bring..Stay tuned..I am sure I will be sharing the pleasures of the new month ahead.. wishing everyone a happy month of February.

I hope you enjoyed the photos and my January mosaic..I thank your for visit and all the wonderful comments..
