I love seeing the great spotted woodpecker in your post today, dear blog friend Eileen. Why? It reminds me of Munich, where I grew up. Among other things, I used to live in a house with a wooden façade there. What can I say? The woodpecker would peck holes in it to find worms...

Wow, that's quite the variety! I have heard a great many woodpeckers, but apart from seeing some Pileated on my trip to the States a few years back, I don't think I have managed to see any! YAM xx
Love these woodpeckers
I didn’t realize how widespread the woodpeckers are. There are around 230 species on almost all the continents (not Australia or Antarctica). I’ve seen only a small number out of all those.
the are all beautiful, all different and MY favorite is the one from Belize, that golden glow is beautiful and not expected in a wood pecker
I love the variety of birds you have. My hubbie likes taking bird photos. I wish he would buy a better camera! Have a fabulous week, and thankyou again for the linkup.

When I took the Woodpecker online course, I learned there were so many species and especially in South America. You are fortunate to have seen so many during your travels.

I seldom have a look at a woodpecker. But you can hear them when you walk in the woods. Sounds so funny when they hammer on the trees.

Woodpeckers (and a few others) have those flashes of red heads...perhaps a sign that they are slamming their heads into wood all day!

Hubby and I have been to Iceland, Ireland, Belize, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Curacao, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Canada and all have been great places to see birds.
