Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

"In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." John Muir

I am sharing part 2 of the woodpeckers I have seen during my travels.

Click on images for better viewing.

"Joy is when a tiny bird sings a big sweet song."

Below is the Golden-cheeked Woodpecker seen on a guided bird walk in Puerto Vallarta Mexico.

The Jamaican Woodpecker below looks a lot like our Red-bellied Woodpecker.

Below is the Red-naped Sapsucker seen in Arizona.

The Smoky-brown Woodpecker was seen during a guided bird walk in Belize.

Below I have the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, these birds are seen in back yard and all around Maryland.

The Black-cheeked Woodpeckers, two photos below were taken in Tortuguero Costa Rica.

The Crimson-crested Woodpecker was seen in Panama during a guided bird walk.

The Ladder-backed Woodpecker seen in Arizona looks similar to the Downy Woodpecker. Two photos below are the Ladder-backed Woodpecker.

The Lineated Woodpecker was seen in Costa Rica, this bird reminds me of our Pileated Woodpecker.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the woodpeckers I have found on my walks and travels.

I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday   I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

I didn't know there were so many different kinds of woodpeckers! Thank you for sharing, Eileen!

I love seeing the great spotted woodpecker in your post today, dear blog friend Eileen. Why? It reminds me of Munich, where I grew up. Among other things, I used to live in a house with a wooden façade there. What can I say? The woodpecker would peck holes in it to find worms...

Thank you for sharing and for hosting. Greetings by Heidrun ❤️

Oh, I love your tiny bird-quote, Eileen!
And to see Woodpeckers... And your "Vote 2026"-button, yes, so important! In Germany so many do not vote because they think "it does not matter" - it does and others fought hard we can today!
Thank you, so many species - have a great Saturday.

Wow, that's quite the variety! I have heard a great many woodpeckers, but apart from seeing some Pileated on my trip to the States a few years back, I don't think I have managed to see any! YAM xx

I didn’t realize how widespread the woodpeckers are. There are around 230 species on almost all the continents (not Australia or Antarctica). I’ve seen only a small number out of all those.

MadSnapper n Beau said...

the are all beautiful, all different and MY favorite is the one from Belize, that golden glow is beautiful and not expected in a wood pecker

It's worth all the travels just to see the variety of woodpeckers. They are all special. I wonder if the one that looks like the pileated sounds like it too. Enjoy your Saturday and thanks for the party. I am so happy to be here again this week! Hugs, Diane

I seldom have a look at a woodpecker. But you can hear them when you walk in the woods. Sounds so funny when they hammer on the trees.
Have a good time and all the best

Woodpeckers (and a few others) have those flashes of red heads...perhaps a sign that they are slamming their heads into wood all day!
