Good Fences

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

Another week is rolling along and Easter is next weekend on the 20th. April is flying by, even though my days at work are going slow.. This is my first time linking up with Tex's Good Fences. I hope to see you there along with Skywatch Friday.

The photos for today's post were from last Saturday, the Alpacas were seen at the Smithsonian National Zoo. I saw the fence and knew I had to link up with Tex's linky party called "Good Fences".

I love the alpacas they have the cute faces, just adorable animals..

On the same day, I took this moon shot. On April 5, 2014 it is the Waxing Crescent with 33% visible.

I just have to include some birds on my post, so here is a couple of House Finches at my feeder.

The sun is setting, seen from our backyard!

Love the pretty colors looking down the street from the mailbox..

Also on Saturday I was able to watch this colorful sunset.. The sunset shots are from our backyard and the other is our front street. So this completes our day.... a visit to the zoo in Washington, DC and back home in plenty of time for the sunset.. I hope you enjoyed my post.

I hope to see you on Saturday sharing your critters..

To see more pretty skies from around the world please visit  Skywatch Friday

Thanks to Tex @ The Run*A*Round Ranch for hosting Good Fences and to Sylvia, Yogi  and Sandy for hosting Skywatch Friday!   I wish everyone a safe and happy long weekend.

Around the yard

I am linking up with   Our World Tuesday

Happy  Mother's Day! I hope you all are having a great day!

These are some of the scenes from our weekend walk on the fireroad to our lake early Saturday morning. And some shots from around the yard.

A few geese came near Goldie Girl, a wild White Dogwood tree and we saw lots of ferns.... the forest floor was covered with beautiful ferns. It rained Friday night and after a rain everything green looks a darker color green.

Fern on the forest floor.
I checked out a small creek that leads into the lake, I thought I might see some birds there.  The geese and our resident GB herons were at the nest...they were the only birds I actually could see. I did hear a lot of birds calling and singing like the Ovenbirds, Northern Parula and Wood Thrush. I also heard the Barred Owl's call "Who cook for you" .  There were some pretty wild pink azaleas growing off the fireroad.

Wild White Dogwood blossoms.

I have been putting Goldie Girl's hair out in a old suet feeder for the birds to use in their nest. It seems like this Tufted Titmouse  really likes Goldie Girl's hair. The Titmouse had a mouthful of hair. This was the second time I filled up the feeder with more hair. It is a good thing that Goldie Girl sheds a lot of hair. Also seen above are some of my yardbirds like the House Wren coming out of the birdhouse, Carlina Wren, the Titmouse, House Finches with a Downy Woodpecker and WB Nuthatch.

Tufted Titmouse with Goldie Girl's hair. Yes, there is a bird behind all that hair.

I hope you enjoyed our walk around the yard and to the lake. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Delware birds

I want to wish everyone a very HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR. And to all the birders and ME (ha-ha), I wish many great bird sightings in 2012.

For my last Camera Critters post for 2011 I have some of the birds we saw last week in Delaware.
One of my main birds to look for at Cape Henlopen, Delaware are the Snow Buntings. In the winter they can be seen around the dunes at Cape Henlopen State Park.

Across the bay from Cape Henlopen Park we could see the Lighthouse at Cape May, NJ. The entrance to the Lewes/Cape May ferry is right next to Cape Henlopen State Park.

I did see the Snow Buntings flying around the dunes. It was kind of funny, while we walked toward the point on the bay side I could see the Snow Buntings flying toward the ocean side of the point. So we walked around the point to the ocean side and again saw the Snow Buntings flying toward the bayside. I was beginning to think they were playing games with me, like my dog wanting me to chase her and play keep away. Well, I did not see the Snow Buntings on the ground but I did see two groups in flight. Another bird that can be seen at Cape Henlopen is the Brown Headed Nuthatch. I could hear these birds all around the Nature Center. Sometimes, they would land at the feeder take and seed and fly off quickly. As far as photos of both the Snow Bunting and the Brown Headed Nuthatch it was not happening on this trip.

My only Brown-head Nuthatch photo is a silhouette. You can see their cute little bill.

The white tailed deer could be seen from the nature center's parking lot.

The deer didn't seem to mind me taking their picture.

I had a tough time trying to focus on what I believe is a Cooper Hawk perched in a tree off the seaside trail at Cape Henlopen. Forget the bird, I think I did a good job focusing on the pine tree branches. LOL!

Two female House Finches were chowing down at the nature center's feeder. I was a worried that one of these house finches could have the eye disease.

We were not the only people at the beach we did see a couple of horseback riders and a fisherman driving his vehicle on the beach.

Please visit Misty Dawn's Camera Critters . Thanks to Misty for hosting this fun critter meme all year round. Being an animal lover, I have enjoyed visiting everyone's critter post.
I hope to see even more cute critters in 2012.
