Saturday's Critters # 510

 Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

This post is part 2 of our visit to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware. Since we spent the night in Dover Delaware we were able to visit the wildlife refuge early in the morning.  I like seeing the refuge during the low tide also the lighting is different on the pools.

1. I love seeing the large groups of Snowy Egrets and the Great Egrets, we also saw a Tricolored Heron hanging out with the Great Egrets and a few Green Herons. The American Goldfinch was eating some seeds off a nearby plant, American Avocets look busy grooming themselves, a Common Moorhen was hidden in the wetland grasses. In the last row, I was undecided if I was seeing the Purple Martins or Swallows, someone listed Bank Swallows on ebird for this sight. A pair of Bald Eagles were seen off in the distance near their nest and last are more Egrets with a Glossy Ibis.

As always, click on images for larger viewing.

Snowy Egrets, Great Egrets and the American Avocets.

Below are the Great Egret and a Tricolored Heron.  The Tricolored has the long bill and a white belly.

The Green Heron, one of my favorite herons.  One of the smaller herons only 17 inches tall.

The male Indigo Bunting, is a pretty color blue.

We enjoyed watching this Indigo Bunting, calling out his familiar sound.

A pretty male American Goldfinch, found some seeds to eat. At this spot I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye, it was a Least Bittern. The Least Bittern disappeared into the grasses, it was too fast for my camera but a great sighting.

The low tide brings out the Clapper Rails, foraging in the muddy area of the wetlands.

The two Clapper Rails went off in different directions and soon disappeared in the grasses.

The Semipalmated Plover is a cutie!

We enjoyed our picnic lunch in the car while watching these two Green Herons at the edge of the pond.

A front view of the Green Heron, it looks comical.

A view of the pool, way off in the distance are lots of little shorebirds looking like little brown spots, closer in are the American Avocets, Snowy Egrets, Great Egrets and the Glossy Ibis.

Bombay Hook NWR is a great place to see the birds,  many are breeders and are here during the summer.

Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Saturday's Critters #173

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

I have not been many places since being home, one reason is the weather has not been cooperating. But luckily, I have tons of photos from my visits to the Circle B Reserve in Lakeland Florida. I do not think I will ever get around to showing all of them. I am trying to pick out my favorite birds and critters.

Another favorite the Belted Kingfisher.

A couple of Sandhill Cranes on the trail.

A pretty Tricolored Heron.

Common Moorhen and reflection.

A soft shelled turtle, look at that nose.

My favorite, the Green Heron

Lakeland Florida

Hello,

These are some images from our Lakeland neighborhood, the lake, view of the moon, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Juvenile Moorhen and an immature Little Blue Heron. I have enjoyed the past winter in Lakeland Florida, I hope you enjoy my photos.

This is a sunrise scene of our local lake, Lakeland Florida.

The neighborhood Black-bellied Whistling Ducks.

I believe this is a juvenile Common Moorhern but then I also think it could be a juvenile Purple Gallinule?

A juvenile Little Blue Heron.

I am thankful for being able to live my life around the things that I love, mostly nature related.
I am also thankful and blessed to be retired and doing what I am doing. It includes living part time in Florida for the winter.

Thank you for your visit and comments on my post. Enjoy your day and the weekend ahead!

Lettuce Lake Park

Hello,

Is January flying by or what? I wish there was a way to slow down time, it is going by much too quickly. These are images are from Nov 14-16th. I never got around to showing my photos of November's Supermoon and a sunset. Also, our visit to Lettuce Lake Park just outside of Tampa Florida.

Sunset from our neighborhood.

Some clouds over the Supermoon.

November's supermoon reflection on our local lake.

The boardwalk at Lettuce Lake Park, it is a beautiful park. We saw pretty views of the water, trees and boardwalk.

White Ibis on the tree top.

A twisted Great Egret across the lake.

A small alligator and a turtle.

Here is my list of thankful things:

My critter post is all about the birds, below are the Palm Warblers.

Common Moorhen and or Purple Gallinule , this photo looks much better if you click for the larger version.

Not the best shot, the birds were further away. But, I thought it was cool to see the Wood Stork, Snowy Egret and White Ibis all together in the neighborhood.

Two Snowy Egrets, Anhinga and a Great Egret

The neighborhood Snowy Egrets, there maybe a juvenile white Little Blue Heron mixed in.

Circle B Bar Reserve

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday   They are both fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts.

I am continuing with another post and photos from our Florida trip.  We visited the Circle B Bar Reserve located in Lakeland, Polk County. The Circle B is known as a hotspot for birding in Florida.  It is named after the cattle ranch that existed on this property. The property was acquired by Polk County and the pastures were restored back to it's natural state, the marsh land. It is now home to an impressive bird population. Nature trails, picnic areas and a beautiful Discovery center are a must see if you are near Lakeland, Florida..

Above some of the beautiful trees along the Circle B trails, Marsh land, Cormorant & Red-shouldered Hawk are seen in the mosaic.

I love the lighting on the trees and spanish moss.

One of my favorite Florida birds the Limpkin and the Common Moorhen or also known as the Common Gallinule.

Limpkin with snail

Waterway and some of the wildflowers seen along the trail..

Top row: Anhinga, aligator on trail, Blue-winged Teal
Middle row: Black Crowned Night Heron, Roseate Spoonbill, GB Heron
Bottom row: Green Heron, alligator eye, Osprey on nest

We had to wait awhile for this gator to move off the trail. I am not sure if the lady on the other side turned back and returned the way she came or not.  These are photos from our first visit to Circle B, we loved it so much we went back a second time.. I hope you enjoyed my photos.. Thank you for visiting and for all the nice comments.. Have a great day and week ahead!

I use Pic Monkey to create my mosaics, you can use Pic Monkey free or pay for an upgraded version.
I hope you can join in on our fun with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday
