1. The NCR rail trail, is popular for joggers, bike riders and people walking, lots of dog walkers.

Feb 26th, NCR trail with Miney

2. Miney wanted everyone that went by to stop and say hello.  She is a friendly dog.

3. Off the NCR trail I noticed these two Canada Geese. One look like it was sick or dead, it's partner seemed to by hanging close by.  I am wondering if the sick bird has the HPAI Avian flu. I was sad to hear they closed my favorite trail at the Susquehanna River, due to the large count of dead Vultures. The Avian flu is killing the vultures seen at the Conowingo Dam area.

Feb 26th, a stop at the Prettyboy boat dock to see the Common Mergansers.

4. On the way home from our walk on the NCR bike trail we stopped at the Prettyboy Reservoir's boat ramp. If we are lucky we usually see some ducks hanging out nearby.  This day we saw a large flock of Common Mergansers and some Canada Geese.

5. A closer look at the Canada Geese.

6. Somewhat closer view of the Common Mergansers. The male has the white body and a green head. The female has a rufous colored head with greyish body.

7. Miney watching a jogger go by.

8. From March 2017, during our 6months living in Florida we visited the Circle B Preserve at least once a week. It is a great place to see the birds, just watch out for the gators. Below seen off the Circle B trail I could see the Great Blue Heron with one of their chicks.

Another Circle B Preserve photo, we saw various Egrets, Ibis, Wood Storks, Roseate Spoonbills and Little Blue Heron.

Today is National Payday it Forward, spread the kindness!

On this last Saturday of March, I continue with a mish-mash of photos. I am sharing my yard birds, walks around the lake, on the fire roads and photos of our dog Miney.

Click on images for better viewing.

1. Feb 21st, looking out my kitchen window I noticed this hawk sitting in a tree at the end of our driveway. Needless to say my yard birds all went into hiding.  I am guessing that it is a Red-shouldered Hawk. But, the Red-tailed Hawk is another common raptor seen in my neighborhood.

2. The hawk seems to have something in it's sight line, staring intently.

3. Feb 23rd, we took Miney on a walk to the Prettyboy reservoir to see the Eagle's nest.  We did not see the Eagles, I hope all is well with their nest.  We did see lots of Canada Geese and some Common Mergansers.

4. Miney always enjoys her walks, on this day we had a short car ride around to another section of the reservoir.

5. Lots of Canada Geese on the lake and on the far shore I see at least one Common Merganser, usually there we see lots of the Mergansers in this area.

6. Feb 25th, I took Miney on a shorter walk. Just up and down the street.  During my walks, I could hear the Hairy Woodpecker, American Robins and some crows.

7. A Facebook flashback from From 2015, 10 years ago. I would see many American Goldfinches in my yard and at the feeders.  I am missing them now because I no longer put out bird seed in feeders. This is a male starting to get his summer colors and black forehead.

8. Flashback Feb 2017, two Barred Owls sitting in a palm tree at my favorite birding spot Circle B in Florida.

As usual I am behind, posting my photos on our outings and walks in various parks, my neighborhood and my back yard birdwatching. These are all from November and some December photos.

1. Nov 1st, this mosaic and the next one are from our walk at the local Leister Park in Hampstead Md. They have a nice walking trail and I can usually find some birds. Below are images of the trail, a flock of blackbirds, a Squirrel and a unknown Hawk, we met and passed by a women and her three Corgis on their walk and there were some beautiful Autumn colors.

2. Also off the trail we saw a flock of Cedar Waxwings eating berries.

3. On the way home from the park above, I was driving down our street and saw this Bald Eagle on the ground eating something unknown.

4. Nov 3rd, we have many options for our walks around the Prettyboy watershed, this is one of our favorites. We saw a flock of Dark-eyed Juncos eating off the ground and a Turkey Vulture in flight and bottom left are the neighbors turkeys that she raises to sell for Thanksgiving.

5. Nov 5, Our walk on the NCR rail trail in Parkton, we saw a Great Blue Heron, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Carolina Chickadee, male Downy Woodpecker and a White-breasted Nuthatch.

6. Nov 7th, we drove a little further away for our walk at the Conowingo Dam and Susquehanna River. We wanted to see if the Bald Eagles arrived.  We only saw a few Eagles both juvenile and adult Bald Eagles.  There were plenty of Black Vultures, Cormorants and a Great Blue Heron and we saw a deer off the river trail below the dam.

7. Another walk on our local Prettyboy fire road, I saw lots of berries and a cute bunny.

8. Another fire road walk to the front section of the Prettyboy reservoir, we saw a group of Canada Geese and we saw that the female Hooded Mergansers have arrived for the winter.

9. Dec 7, I looked out my kitchen door and noticed our missing Peacock was back on our deck.  He gobbled up some of the peanut suet nuggets that I feed my birds.

10. Bonus: Nov 10th, our granddaughter Sophie was baptized.

I noticed I have a few blogs I follow on my side bar that do not update with the current post, they stay at the bottom of the list even though the blog has a new post. Does anyone know how to keep the list updated with current post?

Feb 4th, a pretty sunny and blue sky day for our walk.We take this fire road walk to see how the Bald Eagle nest is coming along. We have been seeing the Bald Eagles nesting for years now at our local Prettyboy Reservoir.

Below is a fuzzy image of the Bald Eagle on the nest and her mate was sitting in a nearby tree.

One of the Bald Eagles took off and flew around the lake only to land in another tree.

Far off across the lake I saw a big group of Common Mergansers. They are common visitors to our lake in the winter months.

A juvenile Bald Eagle flew over the lake.

We were still able to walk on the lake shore, usually when the lake is full we have to walk on the trail.

At first I though I saw a deer on the trail in front of us as we were walking back to the car.
It turned out to be a man walking his two German Pointer dogs.

We love visiting with our grandsons and the grand-dogs, Nibbles and Winnie are cute critters.

Here is another critter puzzle we have finished recently.  I love the Orca whales, I had a brief glimpse of one while on an Alaska cruise.

Saturday's Critters # 528

A month behind, I am still trying to catch up. These images start with an early morning Christmas day walk to the lake.

1. Our walk was on a fire road that leads to the lake and a view of the Bald Eagle's nest.  We didn't see an Eagle on the nest but there was an adult Eagle in one tree and a juvenile across the lake.

2. This Bald Eagle was calling to another Eagle that flew away from the tree.

3. Dec 29th, our walk was to our back part of the lake. We were happy to see a large flock of Canada Geese and 20-30 Common Mergansers.  We were a distance away and the Mergansers were still spooked and flew further across the lake.

Below is one male Common Merganser with three females. The male has more white on it's body and a green head. I cropped this photo, I wish it was a clearer photo they were a good distance away.

4. Just a few of the Canada Geese seen at the lake.

5. Along the fire road we watched a flock of Eastern Bluebirds, I was surprised to see a large group hanging out together.  Below are the Male Bluebird on the left and the female is one the right.

6. On New Year's day I like to record the first bird I see, it was the Blue Jay. After putting out some peanut nuggets on the deck railing, the Blue Jays were the first bird I saw along with the Dark-eyed Junco, Tufted Titmouse and the White-throated Sparrows.

7. Jan 2nd, our walk to the front part of the lake. We saw 3 Bald Eagles, 2 in flight and one sitting in a tree. A big flock of Robins were seen along the fire road.

8. I was able to snap a few photos of the Robins, they were flying back and forth across the fire road as walked close.

Jan 24th, was our grandson Mason's 2nd birthday, we were happy to be there to celebrate on the actual day.

Here is a Saturday's Critters badge if you would like to add it to your post.
