I hope you will enjoy some more of my Kauai Birds, each day we visited different beach parks. I found some birds in each park. I promise to be done with my Kauai posts soon. Just one more post to go hang in there.
1. Salt Pond Beach Park, here I found the Wandering Tattler, the Pacific Golden Plover, the Common Myna and the chickens.
2. There are two Tattlers seen in Hawaii, the Wandering Tattler and the Gray-tailed Tattler, they are shorebirds found on the Pacific Coast and Hawaii. This bird forages while bobbing it's tail up and down.
3. The Pacific Golden Plover was seen in various places around the Island of Kauai.
4. At the Spouting Horn Park, I watched a Cattle Egret foraging, there were also some of the Red-crested Cardinals, Common Myna and chickens.
5. The larger shot of the Cattle Egret.
6. One of the few Brown Anole lizards we saw during our vacation.
8. Three Java Sparrows which is a lifer for me. Also seen here was a Saffron Finch. I have seen the Saffron Finches in Curacao.
9. Four of the Java Sparrows with the Saffron Finch.
10. On our return to our hotel, we always saw at least one of the cats seen daily hanging out at the hotel lobby.

I am still making my way through our Kauai trip photos. One of my favorite birds to see was the Rose-ringed Parakeet. I am a fan of Parrots, Parakeets and Macaws. It is sad that this bird is considered an invasive species in Kauai, they are native to India. They are known to destroy crops, such as corn crops and fruit trees. Kauai residents are not happy with thousands of these birds coming in screeching loudly and leaving behind their droppings. I knew I would never be visiting India so I was a happy birder to see hundreds of these Parakeets fly in at sunset to roost in a large group of palm trees near a Mexican Restaurant called Monico's in Kapa'a.
Click on photos for better viewing.
1. Sept 27, a mosiac showing the Rose-Ringed parakeets in Kapaa Kauai.
2. I loved seeing all the parakeets, it was a sight to see and hear these birds come in waves and land in the palm trees.
3. Photos are NOT the greatest, the sun was setting and we were a distance from the palm trees.
4. With the sunset, the lighting was not the best for taking photos of the birds. I did try to brighten the photos some for better viewing.
5. This is a view of the palm tree across the street from the restaurant, the birds landed at the very top of these trees.
6. When I said there were waves of these Rose-ringed Parakeets flying in, this was one of the waves. You can imagine the sound coming from all these birds, I enjoyed the show.
7. There were times the Parakeets got lost in the palm leaves, I was able to see some of these pretty birds out in the open.
8. We enjoyed our dinner at the Monico's Mexican Restaurant in Kapa'a , I loved seeing the Rose-ringed parakeets flying in to roost for the night.
Coming soon, more scenes and birds from our visit to Kauai.

Kauai was our first big trip since Iceland in 2019, after 2 years of avoiding Covid and Grand-dog sitting for 8 months. I am breaking down my trip photos, I have SO many to share. Every day of our trip started out with watching the sunrise in front of our hotel.
Click on photos for better viewing.
The rest of the day was driving to various spots to snorkel, sightsee and bird watching.
1. Me and my shadow, views of the beach at Lawai, Zebra Dove, White-tailed Tropicbirds at Wailua Waterfalls, chickens, Hawaiian Stilts.
2. The Zebra Doves are pretty, A common bird seen on the island.
3. Chickens are everywhere in Kauai.
4. Wailua Waterfalls
5. The White-tailed Tropicbirds were flying around the cliffs at the Wailua Waterfalls, they are beautiful birds but hard to capture in flight.
6. Menehune Fish Pond overlook
7. A good distance away at the Menehune Fish Pond I was able to find the Hawaiian Stilts.
8. The Cattle Egrets are seen all around the island, usually I saw them along the road while driving.
Stayed tuned, lots more Kauai photos to come, I hope you enjoyed this post.

I was missing for a week at the end of September, hubby and I were enjoying a trip to Kauai, Hawaii. We were there 32 and a half years ago and it was one of our favorite places to visit. I took over 1500 photos of scenery, flowers and birds. Maybe a few critters too. I am sharing photos from the first two days.
1. Scenes from our hotel in Wailua Bay, the hotel had a nice view and a pond with the koi fish. Chickens had run of the place and a few cats.
2. The Common Myna bird was seen at the resort and all around the island. They were everywhere.
3. The Zebra Dove, a lifer for me, was another common bird seen all around the island.
4. The Roosters were seen all around, chasing other chickens away. They were crowing all day.
5. These Roosters were plentiful, very colorful and pretty.
6. The Red-crested Cardinals a lifer for me, they were seen in various spots too.
7. A Green Sea Turtle seen on the Poipu Beach.
8. The Pacific Golden Plover was another lifer and a common bird, I had sightings in various spots around the island.
9. This is one of the many cats seen at the resort, it seemed to like to sit in this spot in the open air lobby.
