Saturday's Critters #97

Saturday's Critters #97

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

For this week's critter post I am sharing some various yard birds and some critters that were all seen in my yard during the month of September.

Above is the juvie male Scarlet Tanager seen with the dark wings.

The Gray Catbirds were seen all summer long.

The Tennessee Warbler hung around for a couple of weeks. It was enjoying the berries.

I believe this is the Eastern Wood Pewee perched on our Weeping Cherry tree.

The female Ruby-throated Hummingbird hung out in the weeping cherry tree, close to the hummingbird feeder.

A chipmunk likes to sit on top of our wood pile.

This American Bullfrog was enjoying his favorite rock next to our little pond.

A young deer maybe a female showed up in the yard on Sept 21, the bow hunting season in the woods near our house started on Sept 11th. I hope this deer stayed safe.

The Swainson's Thrush was another new yard bird for me.

A new yard bird for me, it is the Summer Tanager. It is neat comparing the Summer Tanager to my first photo above of the juvenile male Scarlet Tanager. I hope you enjoyed my yardbirds and critters. As always I appreciate my blogging friends joining in on my Saturday Critter party. Thanks for linking up and I also appreciate the nice comments. Have a Happy Weekend

Oregon birds & critters.

I am linking up with Camera Critters  and Scenic Sunday

Sorry, I have not even started sharing all my Oregon coast photos and you are probably sick of seeing my trip pic's. I only shared the first three days and we went to the coast for 4 more days. So many photos to go thru.

In this mosaic I have the osprey in flight, Canada Geese near the river, windsailing, squirrel, Lewis's dog Seaman , another Swainson's Thrush, goats on the trail and Little Crater lake.

These are some more shots from the Columbia River and our hikes to Timothy lake and to the Little Crater lake.

I love these sculptures of Sacagawea and Lewis's dog Seaman. While visiting Oregon we saw many references to the famous explorers Lewis & Clark. Seaman the Newfoundland was acquired by Lewis for $20.

Another one of the Swainson's Thrushes I was hearing a lot of them everywhere.

Neat shot of the sailing club?

This is the first time we came across people walking their goats on the trail. It seems Oregon is very dog friendly too. I thought of my lonely Goldie Girl at home, when we saw dogs everywhere we went. Restaurants and hotels had water bowls set up outside their entrances.

I had another incentive to visit Little Crater lake, I was told at the visitor center that there was a Sandhill Crane family seen in the marshy area. I would have loved to see the crane chicks. The grasses were tall and if the cranes were there they were hidden well.

Hubby and I loved this Little Crater lake, the water is SO BLUE. There was a sign saying the water was very cold, while we were there a young man dove in on a bet with his friends.

Oregon Lifers

I am linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes

These are just two of the lifers I saw while on vacation in Oregon.  The Swainson's Thrush seem to be pretty common and everywhere I went. To me part of their song is similar to the Veery, but it is only a small part of its song. So it did confuse me, I was thinking I was hearing the Veery.

This bird was seen at the trailhead of the Oneonta Gorge. I think there were a few of them in the bushes but I was only able to get this shot.

The two shots above are the Swainson's Thrush. At least I think they are, LOL. This bird above was seen on the trail to the overlook at Cape Perpetua.

Another lifer, I believe this is the Rufous Hummingbird, maybe a juvie? It looks like it has the start of the coloring on the neck.  But, looking at the Allen's Hummingbird it seems to look a lot like the Rufous. The Allen's has a green back and the Rufous has a rufous back.

The Hummingbirds were flying around me and going to the feeders outside the gift store at the Multnomah Falls and visitor center. I have a lot of fun watching these gorgeous little birds.

I want to thank Theresa of The Run*a*Round Ranch. I won this beautiful eagle drawing from her blog's giveaways. I love it, Theresa. Thanks again.
