1. May 25th, we've been visiting the York Pennsylvania Great Egret and Black-crowned Night Heron rookeries for years now.  It seems like the number of nests have gone down over the years.  It is still a treat to see these beautiful birds and their babies.

2. I watched an Osprey circle the lake, it is neat to see it hovering trying to decide if it should dive for a fish.

3. Below are a few of the Great Egrets perched on their nest high in the tree tops.

4. Some of the Great Egret chicks were getting big already.

5. The Black-crowned Night Herons were nesting on a little island in the middle of the lake.  We saw a few adult Night Heron which are white and black and the juveniles look brownish.

6. I believe these are Mallard hybrid ducks.  The ducklings were so cute.

7. There were lots of Canada Geese families, the goslings were different sizes. I assume they grow fast.

8. We saw a few Slider Turtles at the lake, some in the water and some sunning themselves.

During an early morning walk in Doolin, I came across this White-throated Dipper in a small creek.

Update Wednesday July 16th on hubby: On Wednesday it was day 3 of Dialysis for hubby and then hopefully they will find what they call a community chair for outpatient dialysis. He seems to be more with it, a little weak. He still wants out. He does not like hospitals.

Update on Thursday July 17th, Hubby will have one more dialysis session at the hospital Saturday July 19th which is today and then next week he will start his sessions at a local outpatient center.

Saturday's Critters # 507

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

September already and I am still sharing photos of the birds and critters seen in Ireland. Leaving Dingle, we drove along the Dingle Peninsula, Ring of Kerry and were heading to our next place to stay in Killarney.

1.  May 13th Another stop was for lunch, we stopped in Portmagee, hubby and I had a nice lunch in the Skellig Seafront Cafe. We walked around the coastal town being followed by a cute kitty, it is a nice village with pretty views. You can catch a boat tour here to the Skellig Islands which is a UNESCO Heritage site.

While we were walking along the harbor I noticed the Rook's nest , a group collecting in the tree top is called a rookery.

I watched these two Black Guillemot or are they called Common Murre floating in the Portmagee harbor.

Thanks to YAM and Margaret for the Black Guillemot confirmation.

A walk among the sheep, is someone on the wrong side of the fence?

Our driver/guide made an extra stop at the Kerry Cliffs, it is similar to the Cliffs of Moher with gorgeous scenic views.  It was hard deciding which way to walk on the cliffs, to the right or left.  I went left and hubby went to the right.

Next to our parking area we enjoyed these cute critters.  These two donkeys looked like they were hugging each other, very cute.

I love the cute alpacas, there were three different colored alpacas standing close together.

The Killarney National Park  was the last stop for the day before heading to our lodging for the next two nights in Killarney.

I believe this is a Grey Wagtail, we saw this bird near the Torc Waterfall in the Killarney National Park.

I hope you enjoyed these photos from Ireland. Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Happy weekend, everyone!  Can you believe it is the end of May? It's Saturday and it's time to share your critters.. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.

Hubby and I like to take walks along the Susquehanna River trail on this day we saw a lot of Double-crested Cormorants in the river.

Double-crested Cormorants seen in the Susquehanna River.

They must be catching some great fish in this spot.

Also seen on the trail a Mourning Cloak butterfly.

More Cormorants seen from along the river trail.

Saturday's Critters #21

Saturday's Critters #21

The Gentle Barn TheGentleBarn on facebook

I was asked if I would do a review on My Gentle Barn. I was not offered money and I am doing this because I want to....no other reason. I would highly recommend reading this book, hubby and I had fun reading the book at the same time. Two different bookmarks kept our place and we enjoyed talking about the book as we read.

On my post this week I am including a review of Ellie Laks book called My Gentle Barn. A true story begins with Ellie’s life as a child and shares her love of animals. Being an animal lover myself, it was sad reading about some of the animals being abused.  But, this story made me feel good that the rescued animals received necessary medical attention, respect and lots of love. Ellie loves all her animals and in return the animals loved Ellie.

Ellie takes it a step further in helping at risk teens. Ellie knew from her own experience just how much animals can bring a person comfort.  Ellie’s rescued animals were perfect to teach, heal and share compassion with the special needs of the at risk youth. There were many happy and sad times throughout Ellie’s life.  I think the happiest of times were made at the Gentle Barn. It would be nice if there were Gental Barn rescues across the USA. Thanks to Ellie and her husband Jay who run the Gentle Barn in California.

Now for my critter part of the post.. I am sharing some various animals you might find on a farm or in a barn.

To see more cute critters, check out the link below. If you get a chance, I hope you read the book My Gentle Barn.

I am looking forward to seeing your critters.

Thank you for linking up to the critter party. I appreciate the visits, comments and the support of my blogging friends..

Good Fences

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

Another week is rolling along and Easter is next weekend on the 20th. April is flying by, even though my days at work are going slow.. This is my first time linking up with Tex's Good Fences. I hope to see you there along with Skywatch Friday.

The photos for today's post were from last Saturday, the Alpacas were seen at the Smithsonian National Zoo. I saw the fence and knew I had to link up with Tex's linky party called "Good Fences".

I love the alpacas they have the cute faces, just adorable animals..

On the same day, I took this moon shot. On April 5, 2014 it is the Waxing Crescent with 33% visible.

I just have to include some birds on my post, so here is a couple of House Finches at my feeder.

The sun is setting, seen from our backyard!

Love the pretty colors looking down the street from the mailbox..

Also on Saturday I was able to watch this colorful sunset.. The sunset shots are from our backyard and the other is our front street. So this completes our day.... a visit to the zoo in Washington, DC and back home in plenty of time for the sunset.. I hope you enjoyed my post.

I hope to see you on Saturday sharing your critters..

To see more pretty skies from around the world please visit  Skywatch Friday

More from Hashawha

I am linking up Camera Critters and Sunday Bridges

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!!!

These photos were from last weekend's hike at our local Hashawha Nature Center.  It was a pretty day for a hike and we saw many signs of Spring.

Above is a beautiful male Eastern Bluebird, a footbridge over a stream, turtle and the boardwalk at the Hashawha Lake.

Above a White Throated Sparrow, I believe the bottom left and right are Song Sparrows.

There are a few places where you have to cross these footbridges over the streams on the trails.

I am pretty sure this is a Northern Red-bellied Cooter. I looked up turtles seen in Maryland to find the name of this turtles at first I thought it was a Red-eared Slider but my turtle does not show the red stripe behind its eye.

Another footbridge over the stream, this is where I found a few Song Sparrows near the edge of the stream.

One of the many Song Sparrows I saw while hiking and birding Hashawha.

On the way home we passed by this farm with these cute Alpacas. I just love these cute critters.

To see more cute and wonderful critters, please visit Camera Critters.  Thanks to Misty Dawn for hosting Camera Critters.  Also, please visit Louis's Sunday Bridges.   Also, thanks for stopping by to see my post. I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend.

Happy Monday!
