Our World, My World

 Happy Monday!

It is hard to believe it is almost the end of November, Thanksgiving is this Thursday. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  I have much to be thankful for my hubby,  family and good health.

May all the good things in life be yours, not only at Thanksgiving but throughout the coming year!

On Nov 9th we headed home through Delaware stopping for a short bit at Bombay Hook NWR. We drove on the wildlife drive, it is always fun to do some drive-thru birding.

Click on photos for better viewing.

1. We did take one short walk, during this time we saw what I think are Yellowlegs and some Ring-billed Gulls.

2.  Lunchtime..

3.  These photos were all taken from my car. The American Avocet, you can see the curved bill.

4.  Various shorebirds, some of the longer billed birds could be Dowitchers?

5.  A couple of Northern Pintails seen a little closer to the wildlife drive.

6.  A distant view of the Canada Geese, various shorebirds and some colorful trees.

7. I am guessing the birds in flight are the Dunlins, the sunlight would shine on them and they were amazing to watch.

8. The Great Egret tree, a couple of Great Blue Herons are seen one at each end.

9.  The American Avocets

10. The swan below are the non-native Mute Swans. lots of Canada Geese, ducks and coots.

11. I tried zooming in as far as I could with my camera, I still can not id all the ducks below. I do see the Canada Geese, American Coots and Wigeon.

Bombay Hook NWR ended our little getaway, it started at Blackwater NWR in Maryland, then onto Assateague Island and Ocean City Md.  We tend to see and do a lot in a little bit of time.

Hubby and I continue to stay safe and healthy.  Be safe, wear your mask and keep your distance.  Wishing everyone good health, take care and stay safe!

Saturday's Critters #250

Welcome to Saturday's Critters !

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

More photos from Bombay Hook NWR, we saw some wonderful birds. The large white birds with black wings are the American Avocets and the birds in flight maybe Dunlins and Plovers. These images are best enlarged.

I am pretty sure the birds sitting right in front of the Avocets are the Short-billed Dowitchers. But, they are so far away there could also be the Long-billed Dowitchers.

Below are the American Avocets, Dowitchers, Semipalmated Plovers and maybe more thrown in.

I think the Egrets were gathering so they could south south together.

A few gulls and Yellowlegs.

I admire the birders who can watch one group of birds looking to see if there is a different species mixed in. I did notice with this group there were a few Black-bellied Plovers mixed in with the Avocets and Dowitchers. Can you find them?

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

These are some birds and images from my visit to North Beach, Maryland.

Snowy Egret

Barn Swallow

I am guessing this is a Yellowlegs, not sure though.

Osprey,  one of many seen around the Chesapeake Bay.

The Osprey was perched on this tower.

Double-crested Cormorants.

I am again guessing, this is a Snowy Egret.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Bombay Hook NWR

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday   and NC Sue WordlessThey are all fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

We have been so many different places since our Florida trip, a lot of day trips. This post is on a day trip when I took my older brother for his first time to Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware.  Hubby stayed home and my brother (another amateur photographer like me) and I enjoyed checking out the birds and the wildlife.

The Tree Swallows had returned and there were numerous swallows flying over our heads.  My brother was enjoying taking shots of the swallows, he must have taken over a thousand photos during our visit to Bombay Hook NWR.

The boardwalk trail scene.

There were many Egrets, both Snowy and Great Egrets, Yellowlegs, Northern Shovelers and two Great Blue Herons.

The shorebirds were returning to the Delaware shore and the wildlife refuge. I believe this is a large group of Dunlin but there could be other species mixed in this group. I think there are some Egrets mixed in the group above.

This daytrip was late April so the trees were just starting to blush, some Ruddy Ducks and some American Coots.

Above are a few Glossy Ibis, Egrets, a Screech Owl in her nest and an adult Bald Eagle with two juvenile eagles. I had fun showing my brother one of my favorite wildlife refuges. I can assume by how many photos he was taking he had fun too.
Thank you for visiting and for all the nice comments.. Have a great day and week ahead!

I use Pic Monkey to create my mosaics, you can use Pic Monkey free or pay for an upgraded version.

Camera Critters the Chincoteague Variety

With my Chincoteague birds and critters, I am linking up with the Friday Ark  and Camera Critters. Chincoteague is my favorite places to go birding, the shorebirds and variety of birds seen there is just awesome. And of course we saw lots of ponies.. last week critters post is here Chincoteague-ponies . Deer are often seen on the refuge and during the three days we were there we saw lots.

You can click on the photos for a larger image.

I believe these are juvenile Dowitchers but I am not so sure.
Any help with their id is appreciated.

EDIT: I have been corrected on my shorebirds above they are really Willets.

Yellowlegs, whether it is the Lesser or Greater Yellowlegs I am not sure.

My favorite Chincoteague pony "The Chief". A real rebel.

I thought the lighting on the Great Blue heron was beautiful. It was a little windy that day and the heron's feather are blowing with the wind.

A sunset shot of the Bald Eagle posing nicely on this tree limb. A cool sighting! We had different Eagle sightings during the three days we were there.

A herd of deer seen on the wildlife drive.

Have a great weekend! The Weathermen are calling for a unusual snowstorm here in Maryland. My part of Maryland is expected to have one-three of inches of the white stuff. As I write this post it is raining and is mixed with snow. Gee, we did not even have a frost yet and some of my flowers were still looking good. The weather has been very weird lately.

I hope you enjoyed my critter post, thanks for stopping by. To see more
wonderful birds and critters please visit Friday Ark and Camera Critters
