Celebrating a day early tomorrow July 13th, is my 16th Blog Anniversary! These years are flying by!

Another mish-mash of photos, still behind these images are from May 2025 and a couple of flashbacks at the end.

Click on images for better viewing.

1.May 17th, our walk with Miney was on the Parkton section of the NCR trail. I heard more birds than I could see due to all the leaves, check out the list of birds I heard on my Merlin App. The birds can hide well in the tree tops. The Dame's Rocket was blooming and looking pretty, I was amazed to see a large amount of tadpoles in a puddle on the trail's parking lot. Almost hidden in the bottom right side is a Gray Catbird.

I did see two Baltimore Orioles chasing a crow right above the trail's parking lot. The Orioles were heard singing all along the trail.

We walk this trail often and the Merlin App has been picking up the sounds of the Kentucky Warbler in the same area of the trail each time we were there.

2. May 18th, we met my son and his family at the Catoctin Zoo and wildlife Preserve, it was a fun time with the grandchildren. They loved all the animals.

3. More fun at the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve.

Feeding the koi fish, they were jumping out of the water making big splashes. The kiddies needed a wet zone warning.

Luna the turtle was one of my favorites.

4. May 21st, a walk with Miney on our fire road at Prettyboy.

May 21st, my Merlin App birds heard during a short walk with Miney on our local fire road.

5. May 23rd, my grandson Wyatt's pre-school had a little graduation ceremony.

6. May 24th, another local walk on the fire road with Miney.  I loved seeing all the ferns and the Mountain Laurels were starting to bloom.

Same day but back at home the Peacock came to visit us, he sat on our deck railing.  But, he went up on our roof when I had to let Miney outside.

7. Flashback to my sightings of the Summer Tanager.

June 2018, at home on the local fire road at Prettyboy, I was able to see a Summer Tanager seen right off the trail.

This Summer Tanager was seen in April 2013, in Florida at the Ding Darling NWR.

Saturday's Critters # 514

  Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

On Sept 16th hubby and I enjoyed a fun outing with our son, DIL and our grandsons at the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve in Thurmont Maryland.

1. There were a lot of birds to be seen at the wildlife preserve, many were native of Australia and Africa. Parrots, Black Swans, Cockatiel, Parakeets, Storks, Peacock and the Barred Owls are seen in my mosaic.

2. White bellied Storks also known as the Abdim's Stork, found in Africa.

3. The butterfly garden, lots of pretty flowers and a few butterflies and bumblebees. Wyatt looking like a junior birdwatcher took control of our binoculars that hubby was using. Wyatt ended up carrying our binocs throughout our visit.

4.  We had some food for the animals in the children's zoo feeding section. There were goats, llamas, alpacas and some cows.

5. This goat was having a roaring good time, looking for food.

6. This Ring-tailed Lemur looked to be practicing yoga.

7. Kangaroos with a Giant Tortoise.

8.  Murals of various birds, it was fun seeing our grandsons posing with these pretty birds.

9.  We had some food for these Koi fish, they were practically jumping out of the water for the food.

10. The Green Iguana is one of the largest, they can be found in Florida.

11. We saw some of the animals like the Zebra  that could be seen  on the wildlife preserve safari ride.

12.  Giant tortoises look like they were going to kiss.

We enjoyed our walk through this wildlife preserve, our grandsons loved all the animals and birds.
