The Northern Cardinals, I counted 3 males and 2 females at one time.
The Eastern Bluebird does not stop by often but sometimes I catch them sitting in our back yard trees. On this day I saw a pair, maybe checking out my birdhouses.
The Blue Jays were my highest count species of bird. I saw 12 Blue Jays at one time.

On Feb 18th we had about 2inches of snow. The GBBC also asks us to record the weather along with the length of time we watched our backyard birds. There are three White-throated Sparrows below can you find them?
3 Eastern Bluebirds showed up during my count and checked out the birdhouse.

I am going to be blogging and commenting less starting after this Critter post. I will be posting just once a week with my Saturday's Critter party. I just feel the need to slow down and take a break, blogging, commenting and computer time.
I have some of my yard birds to share, with the weather lately I have not been able to go far from home.
The female Junco looks a little more brownish than the darker male Junco.
The Blue Jays try stuffing in as much as they can into their beaks at one time.
We have had some little snow storms and some icy storms, the first week of February. Below are some Cardinals and White-Throated Sparrows and some Juncos sitting on the deck and plants.

Thankful Thursday
Happy Thursday,
On January 27, hubby and I went on a hike at the Hashawha Nature Center. A local park with some nice trails, a Raptor Center and camp in the summer for the kiddies. We had great weather, it was in the low 60's and sunny.
These birds have been injured in some way, they can not survive in the wild. My photos are of the Red-tailed Hawk, Barred Owl couple and there was a Bald Eagle. I do not like the cages but if you click on the photo, you can at least see the birds better.
We took the loop trail, at this section of the trail below it was mostly uphill. A few hikers (young hikers) passed us on the trail.
A pretty view of the sky and clouds.
The park also has an environmental center and a visitor center.
The trail starts off with the boardwalk near the lake.
We walked pass many fields, this one had corn planted in the summer.
Jan 30th, almost the full moon.
I am thankful for all I have, I try to remember there are those (around the world) who would be happy to have mine and all of our bad days.
I am thankful to take life day by day.
I am thankful for all your visits and comments.
Thank you Michelle for hosting. Thankful Thursday

Happy Monday
Happy Monday everyone!
January 23rd, we have many fire roads around here that lead to our lake. On this day, we took a walk on the fire road that leads us to a Bald Eagle's nest. The nest has been in use for a few years as far as I know. We could not see the eagle on the nest but we did see a Bald Eagle sitting in a nearby tree. There were also a lot of Canada Geese about and a few ducks. Here are the photos from that walk, views of the lake, geese and sky. I hope you enjoy.
In the photo below the eagle is sitting close to the top of the tree on the right side. If you noticed a dark blob, that is the eagle.
Straight across the lake is where the Bald Eagle's nest is, from a distance you would never know the nest is there.

January 25, I noticed this Red-shouldered Hawk sitting in our weeping cherry tree. It is not far from my feeders and deck. This hawk looked huge, I assume it was a female. I read that the females hawks are larger than the male hawks. The female can be 25-35 percent larger than the male.
I thought I saw another large bird flying into the pine tree in the back park of the yard. I was thinking the male might have been hanging around too.
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments this past year !

Happy Thankful Thursday!
Happy Thursday & Happy February everyone!
Jan 20th, hubby and I took a walk on the NCR bike trail, the river next to the trail had some snow and ice all along the river bank. The birds were spooking easy just from us walking down the trail. So no bird photos were taken. We did see and hear Mourning Doves, Chickadees and Titmouse, Wrens, Sparrows and Kinglets all along the trail.

A look down the trail.
There is a small waterfall section of the river, that was still very frozen.
We stood on the dam and looked over, the dam gates were open letting water out. One side of the rivers edge was frozen from the dam gate water.

Jan 20th sunset from our deck and a sliver of moon above the tree.
I hope you enjoyed these photos and my pretty sunset. Are you a skywatcher?
I am thankful to see a beautiful and colorful sunset.
