Happy Spring!!

I have more images from our recent trip to Maryland's Eastern shore and Ocean City MD.  It was good to get away and we were outside walking or driving much of the trip so we could do our social distancing.

1. The following images are all from the Indian River Inlet in Delaware, not far from the Maryland line. Click on photos for larger viewing.

2. The Red-throated Loon is similar to the Common Loon but has white in front of their eyes.

3. The Long-tailed Ducks are beautiful.

4. Double-crested Cormorants, I was told there was a Great Cormorant hanging out on this tower too.

5. Female Common Eider with one adult male. The adult male also has the long nose but is white on the back.

6. Common Eider, male and females. Possible Red-throated Loon second on the right side of the photo.

7. Sanderlings on the jetty.

8. Loons and Long-tailed Ducks.

9. Various images from the Indian River Inlet, Delaware.

Our grandson Wyatt is just over a month old. He is growing quickly and is doing well.  He is loved and so adorable.

Below the top photo is of our son and our dog Daisy, Daisy was a guardian over our son Brian. Bottom photo is our son's dog Nibbles watching over Wyatt.

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

On our second full day in Iceland we took a tour of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and National Park. The coast line is beautiful, we were able to hike a coastal trail with beautiful views of the ocean.

The Snaefellsjokull Glacier is known as the crown of Snaefellsnes. Our guide told us, they may see a clear view 1 out of 10 times.. We were lucky this day, my traveling weather luck has held out so far.

The coast line and rock formations are beautiful. Look at the pretty sky too.

A lifer, the Eurasian Oystercatcher.

Some shorebirds, like the Purple Sandpipers,  Dunlins and Turnstones were climbing around the rocky shore.

Me and my shadow in Snaefellsnes.

A seal being photobombed by a Common Eider.

I had help with this bird below, another lifer the Redshank.

More captures of the Common Eider.

More of the beautiful coast and sky.

I hope you enjoyed my photos, I took over 400 photos on this day. I am sure I will be posting more on our Iceland trip!

I am always thankful to see new birds and add to my life list.

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

These are the end of my Ocean City photos, the sunrise on our last morning Feb 6. We were up early to see the sunrise and check out the Ocean City Inlet in case any new sea birds showed up. Then we headed to Blackwater Nat'l Wildlife refuge on the way home.  I will share the wildlife refuge photos in another post.

Thankful for another day and a beautiful sunrise.

Most of the sea ducks were at the opposite side of the inlet, I could see the Common Eider, Long-tailed Ducks, Bufflehead Ducks and a couple of Red-breasted Mergansers.

The beach is a hang out spot for various gulls and pigeons.

I always miss the Dovekie and Razorbill sightings by a couple of days or even hours. But, we did see the Ruddy Turnstones hanging in the same spot.

I am thankful for my hubby who enjoys nature as much as I do.
For each day I am Thankful, Grateful and Blessed!
am thankful for all your visits and comments.

Happy Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday!

I have been worrying about loosing my blog and photos ever since hearing about Diane of Lavender Dreams. I am happy to see she had her blog back on 2/26. Would it help to buy your domain and blog name? Would blogspot still be able to come along and take it all away?  If anyone has purchased their domain thru Google or Blogspot? If you think it is a good idea, please let me know.

On Feb 4-6th we were in Ocean City Maryland.  Bird watching is one of my simple pleasures and the sea ducks and birds in Ocean City did not disappoint me. I also enjoy the sunrises and sunsets.

Here comes the sun!

A beautiful sunrise and a beautiful day!

Our hotel on the beach, we had a nice room with a partial view on the 5th floor.

I think this may be the Common Loon, seen swimming in the ocean while we were watching the sun rise.

Ocean City Inlet, a great spot for seeing the sea ducks.

I am pretty sure this is the Common Eider below, seen at the Ocean City inlet. They have a long-nosed appearance. This one could be a first winter male?

The Common Eider and the Bufflehead ducks.

A male Bufflehead with a few females or first winter males.

Two Common Eider @ Ocean City Inlet.

The Long-tailed Ducks were seen at the Ocean City Inlet.

The Bufflehead ducks were seen in groups.

I am thankful to enjoy watching the birds, my simple pleasure.

Barnegat Lighthouse & beach

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

Hubby and I enjoyed an ovenighter to the Jersey Shores.. We started out at Barnegat Lighthouse and beach and then worked our way back down to Atlantic City, New Jersey were we spent the night.

Barnegat Lighthouse and the beach are my go to spot to see the winter ducks..I was a little disappointed with the amount of Harlequin Ducks, usually we would see them all along the rock jetty. This visit we saw a few out in the ocean but nothing like the quantity we saw in past years.

When we checked the weather before leaving they were calling for sunny weather, I think someone goofed.. It was mostly cloudy at Barnegat..My sky and fence shots are of the Barnegat Lighthouse..

Another shot looking back at the lighthouse and a few Savannah Sparrows..also known as Ipswich Sparrow.. a lighter colored Savannah which is seen on the coast..The fences along the jetty wall are there to protect peeps from falling on the rocks and into the water..

Another distant shot of the lighthouse, a few male Harlequin Ducks and bottom right are some Common Eider..

Our cloudy sky at Barnegat Beach.. the wind picked up too. I think the weather arrived a day early.  At least it did not rain, I am looking on the positive side.. We missed seeing a lot of the usual ducks like the Long-tailed Duck and the Scoters.. We left Barnegat Beach and started our drive south again, we made a quick stop at Edwin Forsythe NWR which will be another post.. But, I have a sky shot from the wildlife refuge..

I hope you enjoyed the first part of our getaway and photos.. Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..I hope you enjoyed your visit.
