Happy Thankful Thursday!

 Happy Thursday,

I am sharing some pretty sunset images taken from my back yard and deck.  The full moon images were from the end of October.

 1. Full moon taken on October 31st. I was thankful for clear skies on Oct 31st, the first full moon of October we had rainy cloudy skies.

I wonder of anyone else is having problems leaving comments, I can type a comment and it will just disappear when I click publish.  I have been having to do the verification with the pictures on most comments too. I am not a ROBOT!!!! Is this happening with you?

2.  The second full moon in October, called the Blue Moon.

3.  The moon seen on November 3rd. The moon phase is called Waning Gibbous.

4.  The sunset on Nov 3rd, the sky was looking beautiful.

5. The sunset colors can change in minutes, they went from looking orange to a pretty pink and purple sky.

6. I am thankful for a beautiful sunset and a lovely end to the day.

7.  I am thankful  and it is a pleasure to watch my back yard birds.

My bird for the day is the Hairy Woodpecker, it looks so similar to the Downy Woodpecker but it is larger in size.  The beak is thicker and the body is just bigger overall.  I can watch both the Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers visit my feeders.

Thankfully, we are happy and continue to be healthy.
I wish you all good health, take care and stay safe!

Go outside and breathe deeply.  Enjoy every moment.

Live simple and be happy!  😊 Keep smiling!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

 Happy Thursday!

Hubby and I enjoy our local walks on the near by fire roads. On this day we walked for a little over 2 miles round trip from our house. I had some luck finding birds at what was once a clear cut area in the forest.  The Yellow-billed Cuckoo were seen out in the open, eating the tent caterpillars.  We also saw 20 or more Cedar Waxwings and a juvenile or female Scarlet Tanager.  On this day I had that deja vu feeling, maybe because previous years we had the same bird sightings during a similar walk.

1. The Yellow-billed Cuckoo, we saw at least 3 of these birds during our walk.  One has a tent caterpillar in it's mouth.

2. I watched a flock of Cedar Waxwings flying around us, a few times I caught them sitting on top of a tree branch, one photos has a juvenile or female Scarlet Tanager with 2 Cedar Waxwings.

3. Adult Cedar Waxwing

Gratitude turns what we have into enough. We are thankful for pretty sky days and lovely weather. My prayers go out to all in the areas with the wildfires. It is so sad to see so much loss and devastation..

4. Below is the Great-crested Flycatcher, middle photo is a possible Tennessee Warbler and Red-eyed Vireo on the bottom photo.

 5. Cedar Waxwings, there are 2 on one branch and the Scarlet Tanager is below on the right side.

6. I was happy to see this Yellow-billed Cuckoo out in the open a few times.

7. Another one of the 3 Yellow-billed Cuckoo that we saw during this one walk.

For Martha's Throwback Thursday and Skywatch Friday. I am sharing the following 3 photos from my archives. A  view of some fall colors of our nearby reservoir and a sunset at the Prettyboy reservoir. A photo of our Goldie Girl, she is missed .

8. Some fall trees and sky reflecting at Prettyboy.

9. Prettyboy sunset, you can be blessed just being in the right place at the right time.

10. Sky reflecting at Prettyboy reservoir.

I am thankful for my archived photos of Goldie Girl, she was loved and is missed.  We remain thankful to be virus-free and healthy.

I hope everyone takes care and stay safe.

Live simple and be happy!  😊 Take care, keep smiling!

Happy Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday,

I decided to share some of my favorite sky scenes and photos. These are all from my archives. I am thankful for great memories from past years and various trips. No specific order or date, luckily I can remember where the photo was taken.  I rotate photos in a folder to be used for my desktop background.  My favorites are images from sea to sea, America the Beautiful. I am thankful for the beauty in our country and around the world.  Some sky and scenes are from our travels outside the USA. They include scenes from Costa Rica, Curacao and Iceland.

This is a sunrise at Flagler Beach, Florida 2015

This sunrise was in our Lakeland Florida neighborhood 2016

The is the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica 2010

I am pretty sure this is from Ruby Beach, Olympic Nat'l Park Washington State 2017

Sunset Curacao, taken at the resort beach 2012

Moon captured at the Guadalupe Mountains, Texas 2013

Sunrise at the Bosque del Apache, New Mexico 2013.   These are the only birds seen on this post, a group of Sandhill Cranes in flight and some ducks in the water.

Iceland, Sept 2019

I am thankful for Katherine Lee Bates, a teacher and poet who wrote the song America the Beautiful in 1893. Bates was inspired after a visit to Pikes Peak in Colorado. In 1904 Katherine Lee Bates revived the song adding the words "And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea."  The song and poem reflects a belief in community and social justice. Bates had a deep empathy and a lifelong interest in helping others who were struggling to make ends meet. This song took on new meaning on Nov 11 1918 Armistice Day, when the WWI ended and the soldiers returned home. On this last day of the war, the soldiers left the trenches singing America the beautiful.

We should all be thankful for our freedom and liberty. Thankful for our home of the free and brave.  I am focusing on things I love and cherish, like my country and it's spacious skies.  BTW, I am thankful for the USPS and when I get my mail/medicine on time.

Be Kind! Kindness changes the world, one heart at a time!! 😊

 Take care and stay safe!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Hello, happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Spring!  🎕🎕🎕🎕

So now, we are almost through the month of March. Yesterday was the first day of Spring and Easter is just about a month away. Time is flying by, spring birds should be arriving soon.  These are some images from March 15th taken in my yard and neighborhood. We watched a pretty sunset from our deck, I took a few photos of the moon, some dramatic clouds, a heron in the nearby tree and a bunny in the yard.

Skywatching! Simple pleasures are life's treasures.

Simple pleasures what makes you tick?

Take time to enjoy life's pleasures!

Sunset on March 15th, a thunderstorm just went by.

Cherish life's simple pleasures!

Sorry for the photo quality, the  bunny was near the end of our yard and my camera was telling me to turn the flash on. He/she is a cute bunny.

I am thankful for a beautiful sunset.
I am thankful for the simple pleasures in life.
am thankful for all your visits and comments.

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thankful Thursday! 🙂

These are some images from our little getaway to Ocean City Md Feb 4-6th.  We stayed at a Doubletree hotel on the beach and we had a nice partial view of the ocean.

Our "partial" view of the ocean from our hotel room and balcony. The sky and view looked beautiful.

More of our partial view, Ocean City Maryland beach.

We saw a few Ruddy Turnstones at the inlet and there were some Long-tailed Ducks.  I was missing the Purple Sandpipers, not seen on this trip.

A few Bufflehead ducks.

Looking back at the Ocean City fishing pier.

Ocean City jetty

Hubby's favorite thing is to watch the waves crashing on the rocks.

The temps were in the 40's this day and there were surfers catching waves.

Ocean City Inlet sunset.

Sun is setting and lighting up the amusement rides.

More of the sunset at the inlet.

I see a small line of birds in flight, maybe cormorants or ducks.

A pretty sunset and some jet contrails.

FYI, I changed my comment form so I can reply. If you ask me a question I will reply with an answer or I will thank you for commenting and for your visit.  I will see how long this will work, when weather permits I prefer to take walks outside and I have less computer time.

I am thankful for each day I see the sunrise and sunset.
Each Day I am Thankful, Grateful and Blessed!
am thankful for all your visits and comments.
