Sunset Beach, Part III

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Today is my son's 25th birthday, Happy Birthday Brian. I am sharing some more images from our weeks visit to Sunset Beach. We walked on the beach every day, seeing birds, dolphins and a beautiful sunset. I hope you enjoy my photos, who doesn't enjoy the beach.

A group of Brown Pelicans flying over the Atlantic Ocean.

The Northern Gannet looks like a gull, they are mostly white and have black wing tips. They dive head first into the ocean for their meals.

It is not often I see Bald Eagles on the beach but here they are, I think the Mrs is telling the Mr to go after her dinner.

A few Semipalmated Plovers on Sunset Beach.

We were always looking for shells and sand dollars. We found this live Sand Dollar mixed in some sea weed on the beach. We put it back down in the surf after taking a few photos. You can tell it was alive with the dark color and  fuzzy hairs or feet.

Sunset @ Sunset Beach North Carolina. The beach had a lot of Sanderlings  and Plovers.

The sunset on Sunset Beach.. I do not know of many places on the Atlantic Ocean you can see a beautiful sunset, this is the place.

I am thankful for my hubby, son and my family.
I was thankful to stay a week at my sister's home while she and my BIL went to Bermuda.
I am always thankful for your visits and your comments.

Ocean Isle Beach

Happy Thankful Thursday!

I have more to share from my week visit to Sunset Beach, NC. We saw an amazing sunset at the beach. Lots of birds and lovely beach scenery. On this day hubby and I walked on the nearby Ocean Isle Beach.

Various shorebirds and gulls resting on a sand bar in between Ocean Isle beach and Sunset Beach. The birds were too far away to get a good clear shot.  This photo just shows that it was a large group of various birds.

These beaches were beautiful, nice clean sand and gorgeous views of the ocean and sky.

I am thankful for all the good that is in my life and being here to enjoy a walk on the beach.
I am always thankful for your visits and your comments.

Sunset Beach, Part II

Happy Monday, wishing everyone a great day and week ahead!

November is flying by, this Thursday is Thanksgiving. Soon it will be Christmas, are you ready? When do you put up your Christmas tree, do decorate the whole house? Lately I have been feeling less is more, I might just put up a small tree and be done.

I have some more photos from our visit to my sister's in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. I love walks on the beach, watching the birds and hearing the sound of the waves. I hope you enjoy.

Snooze time!

Black Skimmers and Gull friends.

Gulls, Terns and Brown Pelicans on Sunset Beach.

Me and my shadow!

The waves were not big, but it is always nice to listen to the sound of the waves.

All the little brown dots are the shorebirds, like Dunlins, Willets, Semipalmated Plovers and more. We saw large flocks of shorebirds at the end of Sunset beach, I think this was a resting spot for the migrating birds.

As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

Sunset Beach, North Carolina

Hello and Happy Monday, wishing everyone a great new week!

On Nov 2, hubby and I drove to my sister's home in North Carolina. We kept her BIL company for a week while my sister and her hubby went to Bermuda for a week.  We enjoy a day with everyone before they left, we all enjoyed a walk on Sunset Beach.

Below, is a shot of the moon on the day we arrived at my sister's. I could see a Cormorant flying by, right in front of the moon.

We were surprised to see so many butterflies,  we must have caught some migrating down the Atlantic Coast.

If you look closely you can see the butterfly flying just above the sand dunes, we saw hundreds of Monarchs and other butterfly species.

Various shorebirds, Plovers, Terns, Gulls and more seen on Sunset Beach.

It is a 5 mile roundtrip walk down Sunset Beach to the Kindred Spirit Mailbox.

A view of the ocean and beach, it was a beautiful day for a walk.

As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
