Carolina Chickadee

The Carolina Chickadee is one of my common backyard feeder birds. They are cute little birds and at times can be fussy. I am close to the overlap area but I am still not sure if I have seen the Black Capped Chickadee. At times I think I might have heard a different sound coming from these sweet looking birds. My Carolina Chickadee has duller plumage, a shorter tail and a neat lower edge on their bib. they are best told by their song according to my field guide.

Wishing them good luck on their quest to find their way out, through the branches into spring.

I love the Carolina Chickadees, Eileen. They just chatter constantly. You have some great photos.

Love the Great Falls also. I'd love to see them sometime in person.

Nice. Thanks for pointing out the subtle details in the different species. Do you ever see brown caps that far south?

How similar they are to the Black-capped! I wouldn't have noticed a difference visually without your dialog. Very sweet! Love the header this week. ~ks

Living up North for many years, I got used to the song of the black-capped chickadee. When I moved down here & first heard the Carolina version, it was as though even it had a Southern accent. :)
