For this weeks Watery Wednesday I am showing the Common Eiders I saw while at Barnegat Lighthouse State Park. We had some great views of the male which has white on its back and breast and looks like its has a long nose. The females are more rufous brown in color.

Interesting looking ducks~ love the markings on the male's faces!
These photos brought back great memories of having unexpectedly found eider nests along the vast shorelines of the Aleutian Islands. Its as if hidden secrets are revealed if one explores the world with endless curiosity.

Watery Wednesday
Very nice! I so rarely get birds in flight. By the time I focus on them they're gone. :-(
They are interesting looking birds. They don't visit the west coast.
