Common Grackle

For this weeks Camera Critters I am showing the Common Grackle. They are found in woodlands, farmlands and suburbs. In optimal light the iridescent hues are just beautiful to me. They seem to pig out on my bird seed and they love suet.  They are not one of my favorite yardbirds but they can be pretty.

The bronze and violets colors on the wings are gorgeous and check out those eyes.

I hope you enjoy my grackle post and to see more cute and wonderful critters go and visit Misty Dawn's Camera Critters

Thanks to Misty Dawn for hosting and thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a great weekend!

They're terrible, noisy thugs at the feeders, but MY they're so gorgeous. :)

Hi Eileen, Neat pictures of the Grackle. When we were in a condo at Tybee Island, GA a few years ago, the grackles loved to come up on our deck... We had fun feeding them...

Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy

They do have a pretty tint of blue..do you have one of those video cams hidden somewhere to watch your feathered friends?
Well, have a delightful weekend~

They do have pretty colors but are still a nuisance. The same goes for starlings, of which I've seen many at our feeder!

His iridescent feathers are attractive but if he is like the red wings that have been comming to our feeders he muscles out the smaller birds.

Great shots! I enjoy seeing the birds come back. Spring will eventually come, even though we are getting snow flurries tonight.

Wow, fabulous colors! I can understand him not being your favorite yardbird, as he doesn't seem to know how to share, but what photographs!!

He is a pretty fellow, I really like the colors in his wings. I don't think I have ever seen them in our area.

The little Pine Warbler in your post below is adorable.

The grackle does look handsome in your photos. I haven't seen any around lately, but we used to have them around.

While their iridescent colors are beautiful, grackles can be quite a yardbird pest. Great captures!
