Neighborhood and backyard birds

I am linking up with World Bird Wednesday  and  Nature Notes

This weekend we some family things to do and a friends surprise 50th birthday party so we stayed close to home for our walks.  I did some backyard birding and hubby and I took a walk on the fireroad near the side of the house.

Some of my backyard birds were the Redbellied Woodie, Tufted Titmouse and a Junco.

These are some shots from along the fireroad and down to the lake.

One of the two  Hermit Thrushes we saw playing along a small creek off the fireroad.

One of the four eagles we saw while out for a walk. The other three were juvies that were chasing each other.

A few of the Canada Geese we saw on the lake. They were pretty noisy, I thought maybe because the eagles were nearby.

My youtube video of the geese and one of the eagles we saw at our lake. Not really our lake but I like to call it ours, it is just a short walk out the back door.

To see more beautiful birds check out World Bird Wednesday  and Nature Notes.  Thanks to Springman of World Bird Wednesday and to Michelle of Nature Notes.

There are surprises in our backyard.

I found some a few days ago. They are birds for my pictures.

Love your header of the fire road just inviting me to go for a walk. The eagle reminds me of a wise old gentleman sitting there watching his neighbours. The geese are noisy but look gorgeous flying over your lake. How lucky to have a lake close by. We have a small one about 15 min walk away. It sometimes has Magpie Geese on it. have you seen one of them?

Amazing what you see in your backyard, Eileen. I only have to step into the lane to see a variety of birds. Your photos are beautiful and I love your header! Have a great day. Jo

Hi Eileen, Oh that woodpecker is great but it does not hold a candle to the Bald Eagle! Excellent photographs! Have a super day tomorrow!

Hi there - still very jealous of anybody who gets any form of woodpeckers in their garden! I still miss them!

These are familiar birds to me Eileen, we are seeing the same birds. Not a bad one in the bunch!

I think we must be feeding the same seed! Have all of these too, except the titmouse. Love your captures, Eileen. :)

Your backyard is a little piece of heaven and your pictures are too!

I'd call it "our" lake too! In fact we do that. Now we are on "our" canal!

Is maryland a transit point for the Canadian geese. Some one features this too. Because I don't think Maryland is that much warmer than Kingsville in Canada when i saw them.

I'm impressed by the variety of birds you see close to home. It makes me wonder if there really are many more around where I live and I just don't see them.

How lucky you are to be able to capture an eagle.

Thank you for your photo of the junco. I saw one on my deck last week and another in the parking lot at work yesterday but I couldn't find out his name anywhere else online.

We have just started encouraging birds to our yard this year and are having a great time watching them. (We have 2 cats and didn't want bird to equal snack.)

Happy Monday!
