I do not remember such a great time for seeing new yard birds but September was awesome for seeing Warblers passing thru my yard. I saw the Black-Throated Blue Warblers, Black-throated Green Warblers, Nashville Warbler, Tennessee Warbler, Northern Parula, Pine Warblers, Cape May Warblers, Chestnut-sided Warbler and a quick glance at a Hooded Warbler. My yard list grew in the month of September.
I know I have posted some of these photos but since I think Warblers are cool birds I thought I would do a re-cap and show all of them together. All of these shots were taken from my dining room or kitchen windows.

Days later the Tennessee is still around.

Not too sure if this is still the Tennessee, look like it.
These are all the warblers I saw in my yard during the month of September. There were a few others I saw like the Hooded Warbler and some others moving thru the branches I could not id. I could hear the Pine Warbler close by. I am thinking I missed even more warblers while I was at work Monday-Friday. Most of these shots were taken either on the weekends or in the evening after work. So, it is possible my yard saw many more warblers. I have seen the Pine Warbler here even in the winter months. The Northern Parula is a breeding bird in the woods around my house.
I am also sad to think that if the they decided to do more logging in the woods around my house it will be BYE-BYE Warblers. The trees and woods here are probably the main attraction for these warblers. They have already done a large clear-cut and then had the nerve to spray herbicide on the area. I against any kind of spraying in this area, we have well water here and I would think they have not proven that herbicides do not hurt the birds and critters.

They are such round, puffy, cute birds. Do they Warble? You can see that I know very little about birds.

i know what you mean about the loggers...there are pine forests behind us...we haven't seen as many deer lately wandering through...i think because the forest back there a ways...is not there anymore. :(

Wonderful photos and what an amazing count and variety of the Warblers. I hope your surrounding wooded area is left as is so it will continue to survive as a habitat for many birds. I loved this recount . . .

Love seeing the warblers.. I think we missed our Rose-breasted Grosbeaks this year. The come through here during Sept. --and we were gone.. Oh Well...

Hi Eileen, Your pictures are wonderful! I have a lot of warblers of some kind around in the woods at the street in front of my place here but I can't figure out which they are as they flit up high and the leaves of the Hickories and Oaks are obscuring the birds. One day, that mystery will be solved and I will get the pictures. Have a super good day tomorrow!

Those are exciting shots and I appreciate you sharing them with us. The warblers are a. difficult to get on camera and b. difficult to ID. You must have been excited seeing all these little birds around. Love the warblers munching on berries.:)

Looks like you had a fall "fall" of warblers this week Eileen and good fun IDing them all in their autumn colours. Your garden must have lots of insects for them and as you say it's better not to have insecticides close by, just let the birds do the work.A shame you had to work those days when you could have been birding all day without travelling too far. Enjoy the rest of your week.

A wonderful selection of warblers Eileen, you are so lucky to have such a variety visiting your garden. I was very sad to read about the logging and the herbicide though, that is such a shame. We had a row of lovely, mature native trees backing onto our garden which were suddenly felled by neighbours because they were shading their greenhouses. I was heartbroken. Some years later the greenhouses have all gone as they are not considered fashionable any more!...and the birds which used to be attracted to the trees are long gone too... :-(
Grr..we too have having more areas of woods taken down and then they spray. When will see realize what we are doing. It makes me so mad. But I do love all the birds you can find just in your yard..I hope they will have enough woods left...Michelle

Beautiful warbler shots! The Pokeweed should be at its prime when I return to Illinois. The Tennessees seem to love foraging in them and even getting the juice all over their faces!
