My feathered friends

I am linking up with  Green Day and Camera Critters and I'd-Rather-B-Birdin.

These are some shots from Thursday and Friday. On Thursday we woke up to a light dusting of snow on the ground. We were supposed to be heading for the Jersey shores on these two days but the forecast of snow and such cold weather changed our minds. Also, me waking up with one of my three day migraine would not have been cool. So we stayed home. I did not go out of the house I watched my backyard birds. And when it snows my feathered friends go into a feeding frenzy.  It is great because I get to see the birds up close. So here is an assortment of my yardbirds. The dusting of snow disappeared quickly.

The Dark-eyed Junco is one of my winter visitors and they have been plentiful the last two days. The Juncos look cute sitting in the pine tree they remind me of Christmas ornaments.

More tree ornaments a White-throated Sparrow and a Tufted Titmouse.

A regular visitor is the Redbellied Woodpecker.

One of my many Bluejays.

A pretty female Cardinal.

A cute Carolina Wren. Friday afternoon the forecast was calling for 1-3 inches. It was really coming down at times.

A pretty male Cardinal.

Pine Siskins are around in big numbers the last two days. I hope you enjoy my feathered friends.

To see more beautiful photos and cute critters please visit:   Green Day and Camera Critters and I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host Fiona of Green Day, Misty Dawn of Camera Critters and to Anni of I'd Rather-B-birdin.

Thanks for visiting my blog and post. I wish everyone a very safe and happy weekend.

Such a huge assortment of birds! The woodpecker looks like he's winking. So sweet! Those poor birds, I wonder how they're able to weather the cold. You have so many wonderful shots here. :)

Love your photos Eileen . . . you are right, the Juncos looked like ornaments in the pine tree. Perfect!

Migraines are the worst . . . I suffered for years, better if I stayed away from chocolate, yellow cheese and tomato sauces!

I enjoyed them very much Eileen, lovely shots all of them. Hope you feel better after that migraine. We had snow here too but not so bad really. Happy Weekend to you :)

I love to sit outside and see yard birds.

These are all just so lovely and I love your shots.

I am rather surprised that every bird you are showing is currently living down here right now too.

I am new to birding but I would have thought some of these guys migrated.

I enjoyed this immensely. I especially like that woodpecker. I have one that I have been playing chase with for two weeks now.

Happy weekend!

Before I read the caption of your Juncos photo, I thought, "They look like tree ornaments! Only better!" :-) That's a really beautiful photo. They're all wonderful - what a fun variety of little feathered friends you have! The bright red of that gorgeous male cardinal is positively shocking. In a good way! :-)

Great photos, Eileen. I love seeing your yardbirds. We have many of these same species in our yard, although I believe the wrens have migrated. Hope you are feeling better.

Sorry your migraine and the snow kept you at home. But you did get some wonderful bird photos. I love the little downy woodpecker and the little wren. I still haven't gotten any birds to my feeders other than sparrows. :(
Hope you are feeling better soon!

It's wonderful to see all those beautiful birds in your garden!
Except for the Wren, we have none of these in France!
Well done, they seem to enjoy your feeder!

Eileen, sorry to hear about the snow and your migraine. I too, have just emerged from an extended migraine this week, my first in about six months. (This is also one reason why I didn't visit this week) Hope you're feeling better. Meanwhile your backyard birds are so pretty and your photos are very, very good. I love sharing your nature with you. Have a wonderful weekend. Jo

You are right they look like tree ornaments. I just love the way they puff themselves up when it is cold, I like the male and female cardinals best. Sooo RED against the snow. It is a great shot.

The Juncos do look like ornaments sitting in the pine tree. I have many of the same visitors to my feeders as you have. The Red Bellied Woodpecker is one of my favorites.

Looks like you did the right thing Eileen, staying in watching birds instead of going out in all that snow. Often our garden birds can be just as exciting as travelling here there and everywhere. You're dead right, those juncos look like little baubles on the pine tree.
