I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday
January 5, 2014
We seem to be having snowstorms or freezing rain every couple of days now.. I am already tired of winter and I wish Spring would arrive early..
Our pine trees branches heavy from the snow are hanging over near the driveway.
I've been keeping the birds well fed during these super cold days. It is suppose to be even colder next week. I hope everyone stays warm and safe.
The view out my dining room window..I shoveled a path around the deck to walk and fill the bird feeders.
The White-throated Sparrows usually like to feed off the ground, so I throw some food on top of the snow.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I always appreciate your comments.

the cardinals sure make a pretty splash!
Wonderful photos of the winter scenery and lovely birds
Greetings
ummmm, you don't love snow, shamefull!! hehe, i am partial to all the changing seasons and weather patterns. your images would not be as beautiful in summer, without the snow!!
and i find the birds are slower in the winter, they pause longer at the feeders. they are hungry and food is harder to find!!
the skies and sunsets are more beautiful as well!!
it's 44 degress here at the shore, we are getting rain and the snow is melting ;(
That red bird looks so nice on the snow covered branches, and I love that icy road (although I doubt it's fun to drive on it).
Beautiful the Cardinal, it stands out among all others, perfection.
The Red Cardinal is surely a bright colour against the white, hope you fare well in the week ahead with more cold weather. Cheers, Jean.
Amazing shots, Eileen. The cardinal and sparrow are exceptionally gorgeous.
Hello Eileen!!I hope you're safe and warm!!You sure have a lot o snow there!!Here 15c and sunshine today!!Your yard birds are beautiful and very lucky having you,to take care of them!!I realy like the Cardinal bird!!So beautiful!!Be safe!!Have a nice week!!Hugs!

Seems we all have visions of white to share, the crimson of the cardinal cannot be beat!!! Wonderful!!! Cathy
Hi Eileen,
Wow! That beautiful cardinal is such a burst of colour and warmth against all that cold, heavy snow! Just saw the international headlines on the evening news: looks like your neck of the woods, along with Southern Ontario and eastern Canada are headed for a major snowstorm and more freezing temps! Hang in there!
Stay warm and safe!
Poppy
Eileen your snow pictures are beautiful. My you have quite a pile of it there. I love the birds set against the white snow --some stunning photos. Have a good week and stay warm.
Same here cannot wait for spring to come. Great photos Eileen thanks for sharing.

That cardinal picture looks like a Christmas card! So pretty. Their vibrant red color is such a welcome sight during these dark and dreary days of winter. Your blog is such a joy!
Great shots of your feathered friends...they seem to be enjoying the snow, it is pretty,,,,and spring is on the way....SoOn :) Stopping in from Mosaic Monday
Always love those bright Red Cardinals. Nice photo!
Looks like the same birds visiting my feeders are visiting yours!
I like the idea of scattering seed on the deck for the ground feeders but I think Topaz would likely eat most of it.
Great shot of the sparrow with the corn in his beak.
Judith
...while you're longing for summer, I'm longing for autumn - loved each of the snowy pics and the beautiful birds you look after Eileen
Hi Eileen. You have a while before spring arrives! Your photos of snow and birds are great. Just keep warm.
Your photos are showing the best of winter, so anyone else whose not going through it may be envious! :-) But I am right there with you--This cold and ice got old by the end of the first day! Stay safe and warm, the worst is predicted to be here on Tuesday. burrrrrr!!!!
It certainly looks cold. The red cardinal even looks unhappy. I am glad you are feeding them.
I have seen on the TV the bad weather you are having in the US. Stay warm and have a cosy week.
Hi Eileen, Oh you sure did get hit with the cold! I love the shot of the male Cardinal in the snow. That is a beautiful photo. We also will be quite cold (for Florida that is) on Monday night - forecast is for upper 20's with wind chill perhaps at single digit levels. Hope you have a good week and that you and yours stay warm and safe! Blogger is acting funny about my wordpress account so I will sign with wildlife watcher.wordpress.com.
Love seeing the pretty birds in the snow, but I am ready for Spring also. Thanks for stopping by and comment. Thought I would add the talking squirrel to an otherwise dreary post.
I messed up and deleted your comment for accident. I have had this notebook for over 2 years and still have issues with the touch control. I have to make sure the cursor is way over to the side while reading or the slightest thing will make it click. I am so sorry. :(
Have a great week and stay warm.

These are beautiful Eileen. I love the Cardinal especially.
Pine, snow and cardinals ~ I will always love that combo . Great shots.
Love the male cardinal in the pines! Beautiful! Great shot of the White-throated Sparrow, too!
Beautiful shots of the birds in the snow. Nice to see all that snow since I don't have to be in it.
Oh my, love the cardinal shot!
That image of the red cardinal in the snow is lovely. I love the doves too. Bless your heart for feeding these poor creatures!
Wonderful shots, Eileen. Cardinals are so vibrant and stand out in the landscape. Stay warm!
I love the cardinals!
How nice of you to feed the birds! And in return, the birds model for your camera. :)
I was just saying I need to get out and get some bird feed. The birds are lucky to have you. Great shots!
Well, at least the snow makes for beautiful scenery! So nice that you take such good care of your little visitors! The captures of the cardinals are so pretty!
Eileen, you can't be tired of winter yet! It's hardly got here!
Without you feeding the birdies I imagine they would perish in their thousands in the bitter cold of winter.
I say a big thank you on behalf of all the birds!!!
Beautiful photos Eileen - I think I would feel like you after too much snow and ice...
The rain we get here in winter is inclined to get us down too!

Topsy turvy world. The snow looks very welcome to me at the moment as we are sweltering through a heatwave and the poor birds all have there beaks wide open panting trying to keep cool. I have put out water for them.
Beautiful are your snow and bird photos, Eileen!
Greetings, RW & SK
Winter does give you the chance to share some beautiful photos with those of us who don't have a snowy winter. It does make life more challenging though!
Eileen beautiful collages.
The birds enjoy the snow, but they should find enough food.
Greetings Irma
If you have got this bad weather now it means only one thing... The UK are set to have it next. Maybe not as bad as you guys, but we never seem to be prepared for winter.... EVER !!!
Nice pictures - I wish we had just a bit of weather like that in our winters - but it's not to be!
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Real pity that the bad weather is persisting. It is nice to see you taking special care of the little darling birds.
Wonderfull cardinal shots and scenic winter.
Happy new year, Eileen ... and those Cardinals in the snow are the just totally and utterly magical! I would so love to see these birds!
Beautiful pics as usual, Eileen!
I'm soo tired of winter too.Longing for spring and summmer:)
It's nice to see your beautiful photos of the winter, but not going outside.
Our school is closed until Wednesday and we are keeping getting snow!
The Cardinal and the sparrow add some splashes of colour to your snowy garden Eileen. Like you i soon tire of the winter and long for some warm sunshine. Here's hoping we get some soon. Take care with all that ice around and have a good week ahead.
I love your heart for birds. We're in the 20s here and I made sure the feeders were filled, too. The white-throated sparrow looks very appreciative of your efforts. Great portrait of him!
i love the cardinal. gorgeous instead the white snow. ( :
Your photos really do an amazing job of capturing the beauty of winter :)
It is cold here, in the teens but we never have snow. The cardinals are so beautiful! Stay warm, Eileen!....Christine
Oh, in your real winter.
I am delighted with all the birds. Cardinals captured my heart.
In my country there is this bird.
I wish you a nice week.
I send greetings from distant Polish.
Lucia
Snow sure makes for pretty pictures. The red cardinal really shows up!!
Such cute birds! I try to throw out some extra seed for the birds this time of year. I think nearly everyone is wishing for spring right now!
Sparrows are so adorable and cheerful!...:)JP
Glad to know I'm not the only one in the whole world who just does not like cold. I'd definitely be wishing for an early spring if I were there. Your birds are very lucky to have you .... and they pay you back for all that seed by posing beautifully.
Absolutely gorgeous snow and bird photos ~ xxx
Beautiful shots of the winter scenery and birds.
Looks like Michigan . . . snow, cold and birds . . . that just about sums it up!
I don't like to be cold, but the snow certainly does make wonderful scenes! Stay warm.
Great photos - the snow looks so beautiful but I think it would be too cold for me to manage!
It sure looks pretty but I would't like the cold!
Snow makes for pretty photos but I know what you mean and I agree totally. I didn't know that about the sparrow liking to eat off the ground. I'll have to remember that. Thanks Eileen, stay warm :)
Your cardinal photographs are so beautiful. It seems like the eastern and mid-west sections of the country are getting slammed this winter with lots of snow and frigid temperatures. Best to stay inside and warm!
Dearest Eileen;
I always LOVE to see your proud looking birds(^_^)v They sure look great in the winter scenery. Oh, I heard the news about the unusual coldness in America! Please Take Care and wish you won't stay outside too long for your gorgeous pictures, my friend. Warmest thoughts from Japan.
Lots of Love and Hugs, xoxo Miyako*
Love those beautiful cardinals!
I can't imagine winter being that cold! Our Winter averages 20C (68F).
We are currently having a Summer heat wave (38-42C/100-107F) with the usual electrical storms.
Hello Eileen, when i see all those photos of winter here in the blogs, i appreciate the scenes, the shots, but at the same time I am thankful i am not born in these countries. I might not be able to withstand that cold, haha!
the contrast of the red cardinal on snow looks really very pretty, beautiful collection of photos again
Those cardinals are amazing. So pretty and red and sharp.
This has certainly been a challenging winter for many areas of our country, Eileen! I hope temperatures go back to normal soon. I love your photo of the cardinal--he looks extra handsome against that pine tree!
Your photos are beautiful! Love the pictures of the cardinals. We see them here in the winter, and they are very tricky to photograph! Great job!
Hi Eileen
Wow that snow though is a really good backdrop for the red cardinal (she says reading the name from the other comments and trying to sound knowledgeable, I mean everyone would expect a Wren to know her cardinals from her red birds?!!!)
Good news I have been working on some critters for a Saturday post. I might get overtaken by the tennis this week but we'll see, I'll be back with you soon!!
Have a great week
Wren x
What beautiful shots! And here I am in Sweden longing for our snow to come. It's very very late this year.
I always enjoy seeing your bird buddies.
beautiful sparrow shot. i like them a lot, they're the ones that are plentiful around my neck of the woods.
I also long for spring, but your winter scenes are beautiful. Wonderful bird photos!
Wonderful photos of the birds in your yard. Amazing !
Best regards, Synnöve
we still has no snow, it just rains here. :(
There's my favourite RED bird again!!! Have a wonderful weekend coming up!!
