Great Crested Flycatcher

Linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes and NC Sue Wordless
I hope you can join in and share your wild birds and nature scenes.

For this week's wild bird I am sharing the Great Crested Flycatcher. It is one of my backyard birds in the summer season.

The flycatcher has a large head and a crest that is not always prominent. This bird also has a bright lemon yellow belly.

This is a back view of the Great Crested Flycatcher, it seemed to be checking out the bird seed on my deck railing.

This image above and the one below were taken at a local park, this young Great Crested Flycatcher was begging for food on the boardwalk.

I hope this enjoyed my images of the Great Crested Flycatcher, it is one of my many favorite backyard birds.  I hope you enjoyed my wild bird post and photos. Till next week's wild bird post. Join in and post your birdies and to see more beautiful and wonderful bird and nature photos please visit:

Hi Eileen! LOVE this post because you've just identified a bird that I saw late last week for the first time. I knew it was a flycatcher, but had no idea which one. Your photos are great, and I think I may have a new favorite too--Next to the Eastern Phoebe!

Hope your week is off to a good start!

You caught that crest beautifully and, like other commenters, I have to say that lemon-yellow belly is just gorgeous! Wonderful post, Eileen. I'm so far behind. Just posted to Saturday's Critters now. Going back to read some of those critter posts now. Better late than never!

A cute little guy. We have barn swallows nesting under our front porch right next to our picnic table where we eat every night. They are so used to us we don't bother them a bit. Fun to watch all the developments. - Margy

The Great-Crested Flycatcher is a beautiful little bird. Great captures Eileen!

Wally Jones said...

Wonderful series, Eileen! And it just goes to show that great minds and all that - my own post had the same species as a first image! A small note on this bird's name: it's a fairly large flycatcher with a not-that-large crest. Therefore, its name is not hyphenated and is "Great Crested Flycatcher". (I wrote it with a hyphen for years.)

Sorry to have been absent for a bit. Life stuff gets in the way of blogging sometimes.
