North Point State Park

I have a list below of memes I am joining for this week, and to save time I am doing one post for all. They are all fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts. Special thanks to all the wonderful host and their memes, I hope you have some time to check them out.

Hello, hubby and I like to visit a local park called North Point State Park. I have posted about our visits to this park numerous times with the Little Blue Herons, Tri-colored Herons, Egrets, Bittern and more. On this day we went mainly to see one of my favorite woodpeckers..the Red-headed Woodpecker.

Groom time, the Red-head woodie trying to look more beautiful.

The Red-headed woodpecker is one of my favorites. But, then again I love all the woodies. The Black Marsh trail area has a lot of dead trees that the woodies love.

One of the views from the Black Marsh Trail, I like the reflections in this shot.

I love the red berries, they really pop in this winter view of the marsh.

Above is a barn and farm near the park, various birds have been spotted on the field, far far away I caught a sighting of a flock of Killdeer and Robins.

Not many barns are found in this area of Baltimore County, I did manage to find just one for Tom's Barn Collective meme.

I counted nine American Robins above, I guess they were finding some good bugs in the ground. I hope you enjoyed the cute woodie and my post. As always, I appreciate the visits and your nice comments.  Have a happy new week ahead!

As always thanks to the wonderful group of hosts listed below.

I love the woodpeckers too! I've spotted several flocks of robins around town this weekend and I think they are in shock now because it is snowing and has turned cold. They probably wish they had stayed south for another week!

I have yet to see a robin here this spring, but maybe now that we will have a break from snow they will appear--the weather should be good here all week. I do see red headed woodpeckers from time to time--the owls look for them too!

Have a wonderful week, Eileen

That woodpecker is wonderful -- I see them once in a while here in our RV Park (starting about now, which is either because they are just now migrating through or because they hide out until most of the snowbirds leave, which also happens about this time.)

Great shots of the red headed woodpecker Eileen, a whole flock of killdeers is exciting. I've seen nesting pairs occasionally but with all the house building they're losing their ground habitat.

I sure DID enjoy the red-headed woodie Eileen! What a wonderful bird sighting. I've never seen one myself. I haven't even seen the oddly named red-bellied woodie! My sister was telling me she saw him and some bluebirds at her farm on the weekend. I was jealous! That's a beautiful shot of the marsh too ... love the name of the trail :) Have a great week!

Hi my friend, just so beautiful and I wish that I could see our Red-Headed Woodpeckers her in my back yard. Funny thing they thrive two blocks away, all the same as here, in the woods. You got some wonderful shares of the ones you have seen on your outing with your hubby. Have a great week Eileen~

Good Morning Eileen,
I have been gardening these past few days, so a little late in my visits.
While I have been in the garden I have been enjoying listening to the birds, an occasional woodpecker, a hoot owl, red wing blackbird and more.
I enjoyed this picture of this cute woodpecker!
Happy Tuesday,
Jemma

I wish we had red-headed woodies too! The poor robins are having a hard time with the water frozen and the snow everywhere and 15 degree temps here in my past of NY....they didn't plan on this... 3 or more days of nasty winter coming again...have a good week.

What a handsome chap that red headed woodpecker is! I'm sure his plumage is grey rather than blue, but he looks like an All-American bird from the way his colouring has been captured! Wishing you a happy week!

I always enjoy seeing Woodpeckers as we don't have them.

Hi Eileen, I love your shots of the robins and the woodpecker. As I read your post I had a greater spotted woodpecker on my bird table. They are so colourful aren't they. Have a good week :-)

Hi Eileen,
I'm sometimes quite jealous of the beautiful birds that you always show.
The Red-head woodie I also have never seen before. Just beautiful!

We have a Red Headed Woodpecker that lives in our neighborhood, but he doesn't come around very often anymore ... too much competition. I assume he has found a suet source that is less busy than mine. Haven't seen him this year yet ... most of my Woodpeckers stay all winter, but not the Red Headed ... he heads south, maybe to where you are :) Nice series, Eileen. So many birds and clearly you have the time to see them all :)

I've been hearing lots of woodpeckers working in the forest. It's good to keep them there, one time they made big holes the the side of my cabin. Once the bird started, it took lots of attention to get him to give up. - Margy

What a beauty of a bird!

We apparently have Red-Headed woodpeckers at our local state park too, but I was not able to see any when I went last year. I hope to get there again, soon as the weather stabilizes! Thanks for sharing!

ann said...

hELLO. Her I am way down at the bottom of the list. I think we have seen a red headed woodie here once a long while back, or a species nearly the same. We have the Flickers, the Downy, and the Hairy. They are always fun to watch at the suet feeders. Of course, lost of robins plucking worms from the grass. Have a great week end.

I'm thankful for state parks. Thanks for sharing yours. I do love your Red-headed Woodpecker. Nice shot of the Robin, too. I don't see Killdeer often, but they are always a treat to watch.
