Hello, officially our summer starts Monday June 20 at 5:24PM. Our weather has been a mixture of cool and hot days. More cool than hot. When the weather cooperates and all is well, hubby and I enjoy our walks. The Monocacy River Trail near Frederick Maryland is one of our favorite spots for a walk. Here are some scenes and birds from our walk.
Hubby is surprised I can find a hummingbird on the tree tops as we walk, we also saw the Red-shouldered Hawk, A few Indigo Buntings, House Wrens and the American Robins.
The Red-shouldered Hawk posed nicely on a tree branch for me.
I am not sure what kind of tree this is, but the tree has these thorn like thingys growing out of the trunk. I did a google search and came up with a similar thorn tree called the Honey Locust.
Hubby and I always enjoy seeing the wildlife on our walks. Can you find the three deer in this photo above? With all the bushes and trees I was not able to get a clear shot of the deers. They all seem to be missing their heads.

Hi Eileen, today and tomorrow here in Montreal our temperatures are 36 celsius with the humidity, which is about 96.8 fahrenheit. I will gladly take the cooler temperatures over this...perhaps we can swap. LOL! Another lovely series, and the red-shouldered hawk is definitely posing for you! What a delightful bird! Years ago when I was in Lancaster County PA I saw many barns that were similar to your last one with the stone wall. This is something that is not seen around here. This looks to be a great trail, Eileen - plenty to see in the way of nature but also really peaceful.

It is a pleasure to capture red hawks. There are several places where we can see them close to the house. One used to live on the ceiling of the building I used to work.
And summer just ended on my side of the planet. :D

Hi Eileen, Looks like a beautiful spot. Glad you shared the views. That Downy is pretty. I love the hawk. Honey Locust trees are sometimes used for fence posts in rural areas as they are tough and imposing as is when cut to length. Have a great day tomorrow!

I am so sorry to be a week late commenting but we have had workmen demolishing the dining room and kitchen floors. What a mess! I am finally getting to my computer. Better late than never.
