Saturday's Critters #156

Saturday's Critters #156

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

Lake Parker is another local park that is close to us in Lakeland. We usually can see great birds up close and they have a wonderful walking path.

The first two photos are of a couple of Purple Gallinules. They seem to be a common bird for the Lakeland Florida area and this park.

American Coots

A pretty Little Blue Heron

The Limpkin is another common bird seen in this park and Lakeland Florida.

Great Egret with a lizard for lunch

As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

We can only get to see these big birds in the zoo. But lately I think I saw some white birds with long legs and they might be migratory birds.

Beautiful images! It is great to have a park like this so accessible. I must travel a bit to get to places like Green Cay and Wadokahtchee, where the birds seem so much more tolerant to the presence of humans. In my neighborhood wetlands where few people intrude am lucky to get within 100 feet of a Great Egret before it flushed.

It's been a wonderful time to see beautiful birds here in FL. We may be calling those moorhens....hmmm! We see coots and another bird we are calling moorhens together all the time. I need to get my bird book out...again! Enjoy your day and this blast of 'cold' weather! Hugs, Diane

Hello Eileen!:) I tried to link up yesterday, but couldn't for some reason. The Purple Gallinules make a lovely couple, and they are sweet images. Your Great Egret capture is wonderful,...your timing was perfect, and it was nice to see the Limpkin, a bird we don't get to see here. Have a happy day Eileen, and thank you for hosting.:)

You have the best sources of finding beautiful birds, Eileen! The pair of Purple Gallinules are really unusual and fascinating the way the seem to communicate with each other. And the great Egret is lovely, although they're not always a welcome sight in our Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex area. Lovely post, have a great week!

Bob Bushell said...

The Limpkin is my favorite, beauty. But, I love them all.

Hi Eileen, I am simply wowed by the Limpkin. They are pretty elusive and rarely spotted in daylight. I think they prefer early AM and twilight to be out and about most of the time up here where I live. Have a great coming week!

Purple Gallinules....not only a handsome bird (one totally new to me!) but what a stunning setting you photographed them in! I often think of bible phrases when I see your posts - the ones that reference how the Lord knows every sparrow and dresses every lily in the field. Such beauty surrounds them, and unlike some of us people, they just enjoy it without a thought to hoarding or ruining it!

Will you find me down here at the bottom? Wonderful photos, especially the one of the egret with his mouth full.

Love them all, but the American Coots so pretty and I was reminded that just 2 years ago we had them visit two ponds on a regular basis. Both ponds were drained and turned into more of a shallow marshland and not as many birds come, especially since the long drought, just not a lot of water there. Thank you for all that you do. merry Christmas~
