Saturday's Critters #169

Saturday's Critters #169

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

These are some images from our visit to the TECO (Tampa Electric Co) Manatee Viewing center and the nearby Apollo Beach.

Yellow-crowned Night Heron, it looks like it is surrounded by sudsy water. Not sure what the foamy white stuff is, not snow. Whatever it is, it comes out of the TECO plant.

The cold weather or water temps drop in Florida, the manatee arrive at the Teco Plant.

What a cutie!

Absolutely stunning. It must be a thrill to see one, not to mention seeing all of those - what a wonder! And love the egret - we had those in Southern California - wish there were some here. Have a grand weekend.

I hope the foam isn't toxic, but it contributes to a very nice composition with the night-heron. I still have not seen a concentration of manatees-- only one or two and just their noses!

Phil Slade said...

I've only ever seen Manatees on the TV. It must be thrilling to see them in real life. Such an unusual animal and well worth a visit. Especially when there are birds to see and photograph as well.

Thanks for inviting me along today Eileen. I hope your weekend if warm, sunny and bird filled.

Hi Eileen, your Snowy Egret is like our Little Egret with black legs and yellow legs; looks as if they dipped their feet in gold paint! How lovely to see manatees. Something I'll only see on screen and not in real life. Thanks for sharing. I'm surmising the foam is non-toxic! Thanks for hosting this wonderful meme. Greetings Jo

How amazing to see the manatee so close! The water is soapy looking though, I hope they don't suffer any ill effects.
Thanks for hosting, Eileen!

Years ago I drove a friend to Florida for her winter stay . . .
On the way, she talked about the Florida Manatee . . .
"What's a Manatee" I said, "you don't know what a manatee is?" said she . . .
Nope . . . I didn't, it was. my first trip to Florida . . . and learned a bunch on that trip!

Wonder what that white fluff, foamy stuff is . . .
I can't imagine it is healthy for the herons, birds ???

Thank you for "sparking" a Manatee memory!

I've never seen a manatee, but I adore them! Great photos, as ever!
It's terribly cold here... /whine.

What mythical creatures, the manatee. And how fortunate you are to see them. Yes. March is the windy month. Last week it whipped up a massive prairie fire in northeaster Colorado. Today we have some rain--enough to settle the dust. Sometimes I think we make too much of weather, don't we? Love you photos of the manatee.

Great photos!

In 32 years of living in Central Florida I have only ever seen a yellow-crowned night hawk once. It was quite a thrill!

Of course, I meant night HERON, not night HAWK.

Manatee seems to be a kind species and beautiful capture on the aquatic mammals! Very sorry to the see the water gets polluted by the industrial plants creating a endanger environment for wildlife... this is something happens at everywhere and should be stopped

Don't you just love the Manatee!!! I've paddled in a kayak before with a group of them and I wanted sooo badly to get in the water with them - but wasn't permitted to do so!! Nice heron and egret!!!

My first thought was that the white foamy stuff was snow too!

Eileen, great captures! We visited Florida in 2013 and managed to see some dolphins, which was totally exciting. Of course, we spotted some of those long-legged bird varieties but I couldn't tell you now what we saw. I'd say things are beginning to get pretty warm in your neck of the woods. It's cool here this week but the future forecast is calling for spring-like weather next week which I can't wait. I hate it anytime our weather drops below freezing at night. That's just too cold to suit me! Have a good week!

The Crowned heron is something else too!
Enjoy your week, I am off again to the Atlantic coast!
